People love to hate. I didn't play it at the time, it wasn't until it hit PSN that I got the opportunity. I really liked it.

I can understand why it would be hard to like the game again when all the jackasses ruined it for you....

It's mostly the extreme, insane fanboys, though I don't think they've been a major problem here for a good long while. FFVII is probably mid-pack for me, as far as FF games go, which is still pretty good. I think the first disc is wonderful and I'm less enthusiastic about the rest of the game overall.

When I was younger, I had a lot of bitterness about the game because I felt like the ending was the biggest letdown ever, but it doesn't bug me now.

Sounds about right. Thats why I could never be a "hardcore" or "pure" gamer. Cynicism runs rampant on gaming sites.

Unless its a MP game, fanbase won't effect shit for me. They can keep their stupid opinions and that doesn't effect me at all when I play. However in a MP game, its a very different case.........

1) I stared with FF1 (yay, hand me downs) and went from there.

2) I played games like NiGHTs and Panzer Dragoon before FF7 so the graphics didn't blow my mind.

3) I watched anime and Saturday morning cartoons so the story didn't blow my mind.

4) I've always found JRPGs where the battle system makes everyone the same (SEE: FF10) rather boring.
-Only exceptions is the 'Job System' because of the customization you can do.

5) The fan base for the game is so damn annoying they're one of the reasons why I'm pro-choice.

6) After playing FF3/6 and CT...well...FF7 was such a letdown.

7) Starting with FF7 it seems like the whole of Square-Soft started to go down in quality.
-It only got worse when they merged with Enix.

That's not really blasphemy XD I'd probably like X-2 a lot more if they had stuck them in an entirely different world with different monsters. So much of it was just X all over again (which I loathe) and then the job system. I don't like EXPLICIT job systems.

XIII's lets you level the roles, you don't have to level the characters, too. This is mainly a shot at III and not X-2.

I'd love a non-job, non-X, Josie the pussycats style game with Gunner Yuna. Cuz yum~

I can understand why they did it. The gameplay was becoming stale. It was the solid parkour that kept me coming back. The city design was more important to me than the character. So far, in the trailer, I've only seen him jump around in trees. Kind of odd.

For a game that I initially thought a one trick pony (when I played Ass 1) it has a surprisingly different appeal to different people. One of my best friends loves the stealth aspect, I love the running across rooftops, and there is the historical aspect, and the tactical POV you mentioned.

Horses were useless. I've not played the most recent one so don't know if they fixed anything there. I did like assassinations from one horse to another but in towns they were a pain.

Lucy was secretly working with the Templars and the Goddess saw right through her. Desmond falls into a coma and they (Shaun, other chick, and his father) hook him into the animus to save his mind. There he meets a copy of Clay Marciack (Subject 16) in the Program on Animus Island. by finding animus data fragments littered across Istanbull (optional) it reveals Desmonds past in more deph (he was raised as an Assassin, but ran away). Basically at the end of the game, the program collapses, Data Subject 16 saves Desmonds mind and Desmonds awakens. After that they are shown to be in New York.

So very good <3 Gonna be obsessed with Wild Arms all night now.

A startling number of the battles in XF are objective-based and require very specific, very unforgiving methods of approach. This issue is easily my greatest problem with the game as a whole, because battles became a matter of extreme trial-and-error. If you don't have the exact classes for the task at hand, you'll usually fail and that means a lot of wasted time. The immense joy of strategy RPGs for me comes from delving into each and every class and exploring how best to use them, outfitting your party with the right members to provide the maximum reward. But XF essentially demands that you approach things a certain way, making a typically creative gameplay type into a linear one.

The problems don't end there. As I mentioned in previous coverage of the game, each of your characters has a VP, or Vitality Points gauge that drops as you perform actions (even waiting). A number of battles require the traversal of a large amount of terrain, and even if you have light armor equipped and possess a VP regenerating skill, your characters will still deplete their gauges before the battle ends. This might not sound so awful, but when the gauge empties, your health begins to drop which subsequently cripples your party.

My final complaints, while not gameplay related, are still pressing. First: XF just doesn't feel like a Wild ARMs game. That Western style presentation the first titles in the series possessed gave them their charm, and XF lacks that. The game's character designs and plot feel nothing like the dusty, pistol-wielding numbers they should be. Second: there is a severe lack of animated cutscenes. The Wild ARMs games have always had beautiful anime clips that breathe some life into the experience, but only still pictures show up in XF, which is really disappointing.

2's first intro is probably my favorite.
You should give 3 another go. It is quality. 4 is shit, but I give them points for trying something different. But still taking the Wild West theme out of a franchise known for it was a stupid move I hope someone got fired for. I couldn't tell you much about 5. Only got about 2 hours playtime before it was stolen.

Sorcerer Hunters also called Bakuretsu Hunter. I picked up some random anime discs at a Gamestop one day when they were getting desperate to dump their dvd stock. This series was among the pile.
