I kinda don't want to do it tho......... I feel like what's in my head is always changing so I'm going to make the story very loose. So when you guys hear it, you can think of the story your own way..... I feel the more imagination you put in for yourself, the more you'll appreciate it. Like reading a book....... usually books don't describe people or settings very well. We make it all up as we go along.... but when a movie gets made and we see that what we thought isn't what was filmed.......... Am I going somewhere with this......... Brain tired methinks........

When I heard wind of the first Silent Hill being remade, I was predictably rather excited, as I had always wanted updated graphics and for the tank controls to be taken out behind the meat processing facilty and put out of their misery. When I first played what it actually turned out to be--a reinvisioning--I was vehemently opposed to writing my own neuroses and psychoses over a character who shines as one of the whitest knights in all of gaming: the stalwart and stoic Harry Mason.

I chose to stick it out and was highly rewarded for my bravery. Though it may seem mysterious and magical from the outside, the algorithms used to determine the endings you receive and the contents of your psychological write-up are rather simple, and can yield a good variety of results. There are two parts to the ending you will receive and these are determined by things as concrete as your participation in Dr. K’s exercises and as ephemeral as what you choose to cast your gaze and flashlight upon.

Speaking of which, the Wii version of this game stands head and shoulders above the Sony ports in large part because you are able to control your flashlight with the Wiimote. The level of immersion provided by this, as well as holding it up to your ear when listening to voicemails and calls, is rather staggering and I cannot recommend it enough. As strange as it is, this is probably the definitive Wii experience, for me. Plus, the PS2 version takes door opening animations as a chance to load FAR more than the Wii original. Yes, they were all developed at the same time, but it is clear that the Wii hardware is what the game was designed around.

The change from blood and rust to ice may seem controversial as well, but this provides an entirely new atmosphere of dread, especially in the chase scenarios that do an amazing job of conjuring terror as you flail helplessly around confusing and labyrinthine stretches of the town.

The game quietly and unnervingly presents a reality-of-Oz interpretation of Harry’s experience and actually fleshes him out while making him even more worthy of being a Silent Hill protagonist (as strange as that concept may seem the first time your let it flicker across your brain). Controversial, unsettling, and chilling, Shattered Memories forces you to explore your own memories and decisions as much as Harry’s.

Buyer's Guide: Originally released for the Wii in 2009 and the PS2 and PSP in early 2010. Easily available in used bins everywhere. I would assume that the PSP port has the same loading issues as its big brother.

I definitely agree about the value of having people who have a passion for a given game do a Nut (or review of whatever kind). It just feels like a rock and a hard place situation, a bit, anyway, when you're putting a numerical score on there.

It's a lot less dicey when you're just writing up something about games, or anything really. Numbers kinda make it quantified and official. They summon a need for criticism and objectivity.

That's really the only reason I'm willing to have them taken down. I'm not being emo about it. I just realized I hadn't really thought about how objective you wanted them to be. What the specific, expected aim was. How journalistic this endeavor was, etc., etc. That's because I hadn't been paying attention since I hadn't wanted in.

I definitely see the need for ones that aren't fanboy-tastic. There's that part of you that wants to be super positive about your favorite games, so other people will want to play them, though. Then apologist tendencies if something you like is reviled in general.

Need to do one for something I have lying around at the moment, instead of a favorite.

You can look at something with love and also try to access it's faults and grade accordingly. A 5 for me entertained me throughout and also had an outstanding technical aspect that deserved praise.

I like the scoring, not for the quantified aspect you mentioned but because of the final little in-joke nod that makes me laugh or intrigues me.
Some of cuckoo's film reviews have convinced me I want to see something because the funny bit out of 5 part. Stuff that has actors or a director I wouldn't usually give time to. Without his review and final thought in the scoring I'd have been blinkered.

I think hard about my scores....trying my best not to let the fanboy score it. LOST is difficult. I know what seasons 4 and 6 will get. I'm still tossing and turning as what to give 5.

Scoring Pink Floyd and Green Day albums are just as difficult.

Giving Warning a 3� was really hard to do as a fanboy but I can't justify giving it anything higher based on the amount of filler that album has.

I like the score because speaking to other reviewers (who get paid to do it) they find quite often the reader will decide if they want to read the review by quickly scrolling to the score then backtracking.


One more thing, you brought a different style. That's a good thing.

TBH, I was really looking for an excuse to write this story. The basic outline is something I had in my head for a while.

This is a barebones version.
A military father has pretty much shut out his own son due to the son's homosexuality. Later on a soldier under the father's command comes out of the closet, this is a younger man who the father treated as his own son. He decides to change his ways after the soldier is killed and his acts of valor covered up due to a conspiracy in the command. The Father resigns his commission and leaves to reconcile with his family while he can.

PS was an amazing system but a lot of those graphics were rough too. There were a lot of games that used 3D even though they couldn't make it look good yet. Silent Hill was one of the only games that made that work for them, what with all the grainy-ness. Thankfully a lot of Playstation games still used sprites.

I wish so hard more companies would do sprite games, HD sprites look freaking amazing.

I've got a wad of games here that I'll part with for you fine folks and no one else.

i used a new tool to diagnose my laptop and do some malware scans.

i was suffering from a "time synch" issue on Vista.
apparently some other people were too.
i looked and tried lots of things that didn't work.
i also lost some Admin rights too... BUT I AM THAT ADMIN!!

so with this new tool, i decided to try the silly option of "Add Addmin" :rolleyes:

Well, it added an admin... >.>
just on a separate user account...

and i disabled all services and crap to prevent multiple user accounts, so if i did anything, it wouldn't register with other accounts so well...

so now i have my account and another saying there's 2 admins... :notgood:

so without thinking... i hit "remove admin"
it says to me "done, now reboot foo!"
so i do........
























and here's the kicker...........









































































:sad: it won't login because i guess it removed all accounts with "admin" privilages......
except the Guest account... which is disabled :laugh:


and top things off, i deleted the Recovery Partition on A: :erm:
I got it backed up on me external though so... :le sigh:
but in order to boot from an external usb source (cus my dvd drive is kaput on the laptop)...
i have to format it.

i'm not going to back up a 1TB external just format it so it's proper bootable with the Recovery drive installed....

i mean, let's be realistic: 1TB of data??? ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!!
I'm still in the middle of organizing: deleting archaic software, outdated, no gooddddd, never used software and repeated files.

i had 5 tracks for the soundtrack and then this happens.


so now i'm turning my usb stick into a bootable device with a LiveCD installed on it and then boot up the laptop in hopes to recover my user account without reformating.

or at the very least, get to read an external and backup all my data then reformat the whole thing and reinstall it all WITH THE RECOVERY PARTITION THIS TIME! :laugh:

Apparently, if you're multitasking while it boots up with no user account and no recovery partition, it will countdown and autoload the recovery manager...which doesn't exit :laugh: it was funny when i looked back at the laptop when it was at "2" :laugh: "what the heck are you doing? you realize you're just going to give me an error"

This is absolutely true. But the quality of the games overrode it far more often. I just liked a lot more PS games than I did for 64.

Even PS2 isn't super special awesome in the graphics dept. Especially now that we've seen better.

PS3 is the first system I've felt gives the SNES a run for its money, in terms of overall quality, and games. PS3 has action games going for it. SNES....good god, RPG wonderland :love:

Yes that was it. After Beating the game I did an endurance run and completed as many of the helping quests as possible as well as kill the four bosses.

there's also a tweak (that requires 3rd party software) that forces unused DLL's to be flushed from the memory.
this issue happens, likely, because there's a program DLL still in the memory bank and stays until you reboot. or gets flushed after 6 hours or some junk.

you can also close explorer and restart it and go back to the folder/file you were at and it should work now. <----long method.

I think Metal Gear Solid 3 was definitely one of the better looking PS2 games. Best looking for PS3 would have to be the Uncharted Series, God of War III, and MGS4 (due to its extensive use of in game graphics cutscenes, so the transitions are seamless).

I never owned an SNES, I alternated between a Sega Genesis and a N64.

After both of those broke (Long goddamned time ago, maybe when I was in 3rd grade) all I had was a Gameboy Advance.

Then the Christmas of 02, I got a PS2.

My first games were Mark of Kri ( I still have the game, amazingly), Kingdom Hearts (same thing), Mobile Suit Gundam, Star Wars: Starfigher and Jedi Starfighter, and Star Wars Racer Revenge.

I only switched in hopes that the new container thing wouldn't over inflate itself like it did in 3. So much crashing when trying to watch youtube :notgood:

It really is. Modern Warfare, Cooperative Calligraphy, Remedial Chaos Theory, are some of the best television I have ever seen. And dozens more episodes. Community makes me laugh more than anything else on and I find it more emotionally effecting too. I genuinely tear up when Troy tells the story of the ghost and everyone's just smiling. Probably in my top 10 tv scenes ever, along with a bunch of scenes from Freaks and Geeks and Buffy.
