It was mostly about the telephone calls. That distance between people and the awkward words people say that try to make a connection through wires, and loads of crazy analogy crap that only really pleased me, if I'm honest I have to say it reads fine without it.

Yep, and it's a VERY clean site.

The problem with sites like HF/FS/RS ect - when compared to MU/MF - is that their 'cool downtime' in-between downloads tends to be nuts.
Also, for me, MU (free or premium) has always downloaded faster.
Sure, the speeds aren't always the highest, but MU tends to AVERAGE higher than most other sites.


For uploaders I'd suggest using HJSplit (it's what I use) to split the zip/rar file into 999MB files.
It cuts down on links but also lets free users download the file.

The HJ split I had before was on my old PC. I was using AVG back than and in retrospect it was shit. I would never go back to it. It hated jdownloader as well. I've just avoided those ever since because it spooked me. If it ain't on cnet I'm cautious.

I use HJ Split but mainly to join files. You've probably resolved this by now but it's good to hear peoples program stuff.

Yep, and it's a VERY clean site.

The problem with sites like HF/FS/RS ect - when compared to MU/MF - is that their 'cool downtime' in-between downloads tends to be nuts.
Also, for me, MU (free or premium) has always downloaded faster.
Sure, the speeds aren't always the highest, but MU tends to AVERAGE higher than most other sites.


For uploaders I'd suggest using HJSplit (it's what I use) to split the zip/rar file into 999MB files.
It cuts down on links but also lets free users download the file.

Haven't played NWN1 after it crashed my PC (we're talking near all of my data lost)...still can't bring myself to install it.

I like JD, it's my main downloader - even if it can get bloated.

I use JDownloader. It seems ok. Kinda complex in parts when it doesn't need to be; so far I just use the copy link and it auto adds it to the download list and press download.

Can you link me to a picture of the cover of your Dmitri Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 8 in C minor? It says on WIki: "It has been transcribed by Rudolf Barshai for string orchestra, in which version it is known as Chamber Symphony in C minor (Op. 110a)." I want to find the one you you used.

Mine is actually from a Kronos Quartet recording coupled with George Crumb's "Black Angels"

It's terrifying. The Shostakovich stuff is pretty crazy in a dizzying sort of way.

The Crumb stuff is crazy in a horrific I think I'm losing my mind sort of way.

Reminds me of Penderecki's scarier stuff.

It probably would have been an easier find, had I credited it as Kronos QUartet in the first place.

I don't like crediting the players though.

I'd rather credit the actual composer.

It'd be tagging the Batman theme by The London Sinfonia Orchestra rather than Elfman.

Not that the players don't deserve credit. There are some really spotty orchestras out there I'd rather not listen to. ('90's PRague Philharmonic was terrible).

Yea, the composer just seems more correct. Sometimes there is a limp performance by the players which is why I asked which yours was. It's so full of epic. It would fit perfect in a Park Chan-wook film. :D

I wish there was more demand for some of these works. Then we would be graced with some better recording and/or orchestrations.

My dreams were filled with Tetsuo last night. I watched III last night, went turned right around a watched I again. Listened to both OSTs twice over and started to write.

......quite a welcome change in dreams.....for some reason, I've been having really horrifying dreams this past week.

I wanted to do something like that only a quick stop animation thing with a cartoon bear and a pile of slop. Shame. Now I've seen that and I couldn't help but to compare.

I might give 'er a spin anyways.

Animation is usually around 10 fps so you'll have to draw the bear dozens of times unlesss you can come up with some way of moving limbs and easily changing expressions.

You could go the south park route and have cgi construction paper models that you make a bunch of parts and templates before hand and just swap out the ones you need when the current pieces are no longer useful for the shot. I believe there was dozens of Jack Skelinton heads with slight variations in expressions to do his head.

Through the use of gluing tinfoil to the back of the characters for easy and still movement and a way of changing expressions with nothing but different heads and scotch tape, I figured I could come up with something in the story that works with that. Like a joke. The characters being horrified at the crudeness of the way they are being animated or something.

I don't know. Like I said, I never gave it a lot of thought. There's just too much I want to do.



What did you think of Tet III? I really enjoyed it after the poor second one.

I really liked it. A vast improvement from the 2nd one. I won't be revisiting that one. My review is going to kind of nasty to that one, because I felt even the music smelt like caca.

No. If you GIS search for Tetsuo you get lots of Akira, though. Mostly the big mutated arm.

I have Akira on dvd. I revisit it every so often. It was my introduction to anime many years ago.

The worst thing is when they change the voice cast but not get better more talented actors. I know Eva Retake only has Shinji & Misato but that was because everyone else is retired from the biz, cam Clarke is still working.

The BBC did their own translation of Akira and the subs they provided were way better than the official dvd release. I had it on video years ago recorded off TV but it's long gone now. As far as I know it's never been screened by them since. :sad:

It was written by Aronofsky. It said in the intro of the UK edition it was intended as a companion piece. I agree totally that it helped make sense of the film. It was a huge format comic. Can you remember who the artist was?
