I’ll be honest, I really don’t like Santana so I was ready to skip this.

I REALLY REALLY liked this. Saved the best for last, I see.
I wanted it just to keep on going. The final two minutes were a really nice touch. I lay down almost immediately when I first heard it and just absorbed it all in.

More great hip-hop I’m being introduced to. I’m really glad there’s a hip-hop fan attached to the 10 Songs thing. It’s a wonderful way to explore some music I need to explore more often and don’t know where to start.

I haven’t heard any recent Danzig before this. This was a little slow and not much to it but something about it grasped onto me. Weird.

Indeed! After hearing the remix in The Sopranos, I searched for the original and ended up liking the remix much more!

Such simplicity…yet such brilliance and beauty. Can never go wrong with Cash.

I love Cash, this won't be the end of him.
Also used in the opening titles to the remake of Dawn of the Dead (2005?)


TEN MILLION SLAVES / Otis Taylor
Never head this version before. Very cool. Fantastic song. Makes me want to do bad things and run with a smile and laughter in my heart.

I love this version over the electric version. The electric version was used in the movie AND the trailer for Public Enemies.
But once I found out the banjo version, I never looked back at the electric version. It was also really hard to find too.


SOUL SACRIFICE / Santana
I’ll be honest, I really don’t like Santana so I was ready to skip this.
…but I ended up liking it. Not too noodly with the guitar, like he usually is and the percussion is great. :D

I haven't listened to too much of Santana, but this one really clicked with me. Looking for this version was difficult. I found a shortened version which didn't do it justice and found a few live versions which were equally less than par.
Also used in Zodiac (2007?)


ROCKET / Working For A Nuclear Free City
Never heard of these guys before. It’s cool I like. A psychedelic feel to it.

This one took forever to find in lossless. I kept an eye on this for nearly a year before finding it in lossless. I even tried to order it from HMV before they told me some bollux. :mad: But this one is really good to listen to when trying to relax.
Also used in the movie Push (2009?)

This was another hard to find gem. even in mp3 it was hard to find. According to wiki...

In the movie Spun a cover of the song is played during the opening credit. The cover is a quite different from the original being acoustic country-blues/alternative rock played by The Djali Zwan with members of The Smashing Pumpkins including Billy Corgan, Slint, Tortoise, Chavez, and A Perfect Circle.
I was only able to find this song on a CD-single rip. The other songs included I didn't like so much. This was the real keeper.
I heard it in Spun and instantly fell in love with it.
I don't think there's too many more like this :sad:

Listening to the soundtrack, I heard this one play and had to try remember the track. I always play music in random order then look at the playlist if something catches my ears. This was definitely one of them.

I found a CD-single of these guys in lossless. I really liked this track a lot. The other remixes were okay, but this one I loved a lot.
It was used in one of the trailers to DOTM (awaits Neg's ninja attack).
I'm thinking of hunting down more stuff they did.

This is pretty good.
I don�t know if you are familiar with Radiohead but the texture/soundscape sounds like a lot of their more recent stuff, flavored with a hip-hop beat and R&B vocals.

AMERISCAN / The Restiform Bodies
I don�t know if it was intentional but it sounds like more Radiohead textural design fused with hip-hop. This was REALLY cool. I definitely want to explore them more.

IT�S CALM NOW / Scott Matelic
Super chilled with a great heavy beat and just a hint of a threat. It has a �I could listen to it forever� kind of thing going for it. I REALLY like the dreamlike break it takes at the 3 minute mark.

PLAYIN� WITH FIRE / Collective Efforts
This was cool. I�m beginning to sense a love for the heavily jazz flavored hip-hop.
That�s fantastic. Has Lye listened to your mixes yet? I�m sure he�d be all over them based off of his previous comments about liking the laid-back.

B.E.A.T. / Five Deez
The cello at the beginning is an interesting way to start things off. More of the chilled out.
I�m digging it. Five Deez again too. :D A lot different than what you had on the first volume. Just as good though.

This is great. Makes me think of older hip-hop. With a great noodly guitar to boot.
