Now I remember ! I bought a few heritage miniatures in englad 15 years ago. If yours are still sealed, they can command a relatively good price on the Ebay. I know there's a guy in the US who has bought the mold and keep casting these LOTR miniatures, but originals might still get you a good price, I'd say 25-30$ a blister on the E-bay. at least that's what I heard. I'll admit I'm no expert.

If you want, I'm going to a gaming convention on June 2nd, where there will be lots and lots of miniatures enthusiasts. I'll ask around for the value of these.

Logging off, going to sleep. Still ill. feck

yar, i saw that. didn't know about their tech though.
there's about 3 or 4 lines that did LotR.

I want the one with the Balrog.

They more or less all did the Balrog. I know for a fact Games Workshop and Prince August did. Games Workshop because I've seen it in White Dwarf, Prince August because I had one. sold it a long time ago.

Ah. I get the story now. The movie somewhat.
The old movie was okay.

But from the looks of the trailer, the whole concept of money would be greatly enhanced by the visuals Luhrmann. He usually has really quirky representations for parties.

I'm willing to bet it wasn't all the kid's idea.

More than 70% of the population doesn't have the balls.

The ones that do have the balls, don't need to go on one of those shows to for the attention. They do it on their own and don't worry about that sort of acceptance.

Have you seen those drama queens on the "adult" competitions?

They make that kid look like The King Of The Brave & Bold compared to their reactions.

I liked Belle and Sebastien. Never saw the end, though. Still, watching it was rather unusual, as I was more attracted to more "violent" anime (lots and lots of anime aired here in the 80s-90s. maybe more than anywhere else, save for Italy), Like Saint Seiya (known aroud here as "Les Chevaliers du Zodiaque"), City Hunter, Hokuto No Ken (Ken le Survivant), Dancougar, and a few less violent things, like Nadia : the secrety of blue water (of which I was and still am a huge fan.), or Cat's Eyes.

And Harlock, which was my introduction to Space Opera. God was my generation lucky.

Hello, and welcome to Cooking With IXA! The only cooking show hosted by a rider with an IXA system. This show is sponsored by IXA's Restaurant and Hibiki's Soba Shop.

Welcome to another episode of Cooking With IXA! This week, we'll be making brownies. Helping me out will be my assistants, PunchHopper and KickHopper!

"..."

While I wanted to make something more complex, my assistants forgot to go shopping. Instead, we'll be making a pretty basic brownie.

"...there are no grocery stores on the road to hell."

First, pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees and have your assistants grease a 13x9 baking pan.

...or just do it yourself.

Next, get a large mixing bowl and add in the following ingredients:

2 cups of sugar*

1 cup melted butter**

1/2 cup cocoa powder

1 tsp vanilla extract

4 room temperature eggs

1 cup of flour

1/2 teaspoon of baking powder

...and a pinch of salt!

Thoroughly mix all the ingredients together. This is a two rider job!

Once the ingredients are mixed, pour them into your greased pan and pop it in the oven. Then...

Find a way to kill time for the next 20-30 minutes.

Once your brownies have finished baking, pull them out of the oven and let them cool. This is a good time to let your friends know the food is prepared! Be sure to notify your nekojita friends last.

Now that your brownies are finished, slice them up and serve them. Remember, brownies taste better when shared with friends!

Thank you for watching Cooking With IXA! Stay tuned for the latest episode of Kuuga's Kitchen. This week, Kuuga's making Spinach Enchiladas Verdes.

*sift the sugar with the flour, it'll mix easier that way

**use real butter. I just really need to go grocery shopping. ; ;

Not sure how it became a "classic".

No idea. It's maybe the whole nostalgia for an era thing. Not my thing, though.

Nutshell has all the TNG films, the man with no names films, a clive barker film, Joss Whedon, a Star Wars, Danny Elfman and Ennio Morricone mention and a Tim Burton film. :)

I'm getting it out, and I will fap it.

In the Nut Suite I managed to namedrop Nirvana, Mr Bungle, Joss Whedon, Seth MacFarlane, No Doubt, Primus, blink 182, Patrick Stewart and Danny Elfman all in one post. :D Could have thrown in Mighty Mighty Bosstones, FIshbone, Faith No More, Reel Big Fish, Marilyn Manson, Sparklehorse, John Hughes, Craig Kilborn and Bear McCreary in there too.

Fitzgerald was good at that.

To be fair I thought the novel was alright.

I like The Beautiful & The Damned most though.

I suspect the Gatsby film is mostly famous because of Redford. It's not necessarily a very well made film.

i didn't mention him because even though he did jazz, i still think he was classically trained at first, like goldsmith.

but yeah, for a while there, his early scores had a pretty swinging sound, almost like an american version of 60's john barry

Yeah.

There's no way he's not classically trained.

His music.....it's nutty layered orchestrations that only a classical music enthusiast could write.

But it's busy enough to have hear some of the heavy jazz techniques.

He was. Then after the war, during which he serverd as a conductor and arranger for the air force band (or so wiki tells me), I know he had a carrier as a jazz pianist, and also played the piano on movie scores, notably some composed by Mancini.

Back then he was known as "Little Johnny Love" Williams. :rofldata::rofldata:

he also played for goldsmith and herrmann. i'd love to have been a fly on the wall when he was hanging out with either of those guys. i get the impression he had a sort of friendly yet competitive relationship with goldsmith in particular, since they were about the same age and basically co-dominated the film score world from the 70's to the 90's. iirc, goldsmith nearly got the job or scoring superman the movie. i bet goldsmith was on spielberg's short list back when he was looking for composers to score sugarland express. in an alternate timeline, goldsmith scored every spielberg film, and spielberg recommended him instead of williams when lucas was searching for a composer for star wars.

i think goldsmith was a tad bit more adventurous than williams. more willing to experiment with avant garde music and modern techniques. he was one of the earliest film composers to incorporate synths with an orchestra. as much as i love williams, i could never see him scoring anything quite as unique and brilliant as goldsmith's planet of the apes or even alien

elfman's come a long way. seems like his early scores more or less were trying to imitate herrmann. he's gotten way more versatile.

silvestri is definitely one of the most versatile composers working today

I make it a point to avoid pain wherever possible plus I can't imagine any piece of art I would want that 10 years later I wouldn't regret. Even something nerdy like the triforce or the mark of shame seems iffy.

Design your own so it becomes something more than just a piece of art.

Early Elfman had so much theatrical chamber music in his scores as well.

Took him about 3 albums to shake that sound of with Oingo Boingo.

Took him many, many more years to shake it off with his film scores.

he also played for goldsmith and herrmann. i'd love to have been a fly on the wall when he was hanging out with either of those guys. i get the impression he had a sort of friendly yet competitive relationship with goldsmith in particular, since they were about the same age and basically co-dominated the film score world from the 70's to the 90's. iirc, goldsmith nearly got the job or scoring superman the movie. i bet goldsmith was on spielberg's short list back when he was looking for composers to score sugarland express. in an alternate timeline, goldsmith scored every spielberg film, and spielberg recommended him instead of williams when lucas was searching for a composer for star wars.

http://suzumiyayuki.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/mind-blown_thumb.gif?w=300&h=300

I just had a nerdgasm, just trying to imagine the kind of score Goldsmith would have created for Star Wars. And in this Alternate world, Spielberg would have worked on Star Trek, Poltergeist, the Rambo movies, the Burbs, Alien...

Now I is the sads. because no more Goldsmith.

i imagine goldsmith's star wars might've sounded similar to his star trek the motion picture score. perhaps shades of planet of the apes, though lucas was using mostly romantic era classical music for the temp track, so probably would've been pretty light on the avant garde sound
