interpreter of maladies by jhumpa lahiri is a good collection of short stories.

also, any of bukowski's short stories are a win. often humorous but also can border on pornographic at times.

So this one time, after reformmating the XP, I decide to install the Visual C++ code runtimes again.
I typically need all versions as most of the audio/editing programs I use are built from the different versions of C.
C++ 2005/8/10.
The same goes for NET Framework.

All the devs don't really like updating their programs to the newest building language, so some programs are stuck in the 2005 era or the NET framework 2 SP1.

It's not that once they're installed is the problem. It's getting all the redistributable runtimes again to isntall.
I can't remember which is already installed and what else I need.

There needs to be a utility to install all of them for you. And in the proper order.
The NET Frameworks are horrible to deal with.

Windows update is slowly improving the installiton of that for you. But still has issues when you have any external devices plugged in.
For some reason Windows seems to think you need the NET Frameworks installed on your external harddrives.

:erm: Although... If I'm going to be running portable apps from there... might not be such a bad idea.... :think:

Indeed, 4 stands with 3 and Homecoming as an entry with a satisfying, varied, and effective melee system.

There is only one area, in fact, where your inventory will feel like a hinderance. Here, you are tasked with collecting a large quantity of spirit-warding items to use later, in your apartment. Said apartment acts as a hub-world between various sub-spaces, and houses set pieces such as hauntings that must be dealt with if you are to achieve the “better” endings. This area is experienced in first-person and is effective in how it goes from being a safe-haven to just another part of the nightmare as the game progresses.

It also further ties into what becomes an interconnected game world. At first, you will explore individual, discrete areas. Over time, however, you will end up revisiting each of them in a series of threaded experiences. This stands somewhat below Metroid-level backtracking in terms of enjoyment. It’s one of the less painful ways to do it, yes, but it is backtracking nonetheless.

The final unique feature of 4 is how the lead, Henry, is hands-down the least interesting character in the game. basically it's a sandbox game. ou can either play in survival (where you have to find ressources like wood, coal, iron, gold, and the hardest diamond). Wood is get the old way (cutting trees), Iron and the others are obtained through mining. to do so you craft tools and equipments, first from wood, then stone, then iron, and so on (there's a lot of craftable stuff), and you build yourself a shelter, from a small wooden house to a gigantic complex. no limits, but the ressources. you also have to find food and can grow crops, melons, pumpkins, but you need to find some seeds first.

Of course, it looks too simple. so the mines, to increase your trouble, are infested by zombies, skeletons, spiders, and creepers, which more or less look like walking hissing explosive cactii. they work a lot like proximity mine. approach one or hit one, he starts to hiss before going boom on your ass. personally, as I prefer the exploration aspect, I play on peaceful difficulty, so no monster for me, save for the occassional safari :rolleyes:. the survival mode doesn't really have an end, unless you're really into finding you way to that part of the world called "the end", and fighting a big dragon.

There's another mode, the creative mode, in which you are basically invincible. and can fly. the aim of this mode isn't survival, but more like building gigantic stuff, like castles, underground/underwater complex. there's even a guy who built a 1:1 (in minecraft) replica of minas tirith. unlimited ressources, so the only limit is how patient you are. I also use creative to test redstone circuits before applying them in survival mode. You can take a look at minecraft by playing minecraft classic from Minecraft (http://www.minecraft.net)

I think you have to register to do so, but classic is free, and looks a lot like creative mode. one last thing: there are tons of mods and skin packs for the game.

I never used MySpace (I had an account with like 3 friends that I made so I could see someone's private pictures or smth once) so maybe I'm biased, but I at least think it's a significantly better tool for keeping in touch with people than that was. That's got its drawbacks too, though. A lot of people make it their only method of sharing news, so if you miss a post (and Facebook is glitchy a lot), you miss important updates people would've told you about otherwise. For example, I just found out a long time friend of mine got engaged months ago (from Pinterest, sadly), and she'd never bothered to tell me even though she apparently would like me to travel for the wedding? She just assumed I'd see it on Facebook.

What I do really enjoy about it is that it's a great news feed tool. I see all sorts of cool articles I might've otherwise missed, and it's completely replaced iGoogle RSS feeds for me. If it doesn't glitch it'll be really great for making sure I don't miss new Nuts too.

I follow a major inker who posts the uninked versions of pages he's worked on throughout history, and talks about what he changed, experimenting with styles, stuff like that. It's really cool. Lots and lots of really overpriced games. There's stuff you could probably get for $15-20 at Amazon or GameStop still marked at full price. They have some Xbox and PS2 stuff, but no Game Cube games.

Cube games are impossible to get here in-store now.

My brother said GAME are selling PS3s for �100 to clear out all their stock. That'll be good for someone.

no trial! I didn't even have to see a judge. It was just legal stuff w/splitting from my ex. Just talked to a court house lawyer and signed paperwork for him to present to the judge. Yeah, I just read about that. The Animal Humane Association put a stop order on the show. or whoever those peeps are that look after animals.
That's the third horse to die that was involved with that show.
According to HBO, the horse was being taken back to his stall when he fell and hit his head really hard. The horse had to be put down.

I didn't even know about that show. Dustin Hoffman is in it.

I've never seen the show. What a weird situation that must be. Sad for the horses. From what I've read it doesn't sound like they were behind mistreated, there were just a lot of unfortunate mishaps.

As long as I can find it in avi I can split it. Even in another format, I can convert it, but depending on codecs used it doesn't turn out. I should probably get a good mkv splitter, everything's in mkv now.
