ps3 update: i got the controller earlier today and started to tink around on the system. when i was tryin to play one of my games, it would not read it, and it was a near perfect condition. i got screwed and now im really upset. i tried 2 other discs with no success.

2. P. Head isn't a boss that needs to be beaten. He is a symbolically literal embodiment of James's unconscious need to be punished, due to his repressing of the fact that he killed Mary. Yeah, symbolically literal...

He is also a representation of James's sexual perversions and need to be in control. They've made him into a series mascot, but they've wisely left him "unbeaten" save when James faces both of them at the end of 2. They destroy themselves, in the end. He only WITHOUT QUESTION shows up in Homecoming and the movie as cameos.

He can only be faced and resolved once he is no longer needed. I.e., when James faces the truth.

Alex becoming one in one of the endings of Homecoming is the only truly contentious thing done with him so far. There is a painting of him in the Historical Society in 2 and it is easily theorized that James used that in creating an avatar for his instrument of punishment and they are indeed inherent to the town itself.

I only take issue with the fact that they seem to want to make him a symbol of punishment for EVERYONE who stumbles into Silent Hill.

Alex never saw the Historical society. Therefore, I feel comfortable in always arguing that they are UNIQUE TO JAMES GODDAMMIT even if they were indeed a figure present in some literal way when the town was a civil war prison camp. Or even if they were only an artist's rendering of the atrocities committed at that time.

We can write off the only canonical siting of him outside of 2 (in the Grand Hotel) as James's wandering soul in some form. Assuming that the In Water or Resurrection endings are canon, of course. We'd like to believe Leave is canonical, but you have to be pretty optimistic to think that. You know, just passing by~

The knife in the elevator door at the beginning of Homecoming? Just a big knife. Only reason you'd think it was the Great Knife is because a similar thing happens in the movie. Movie stuff is easily written off as them wanting him in there. Should he have been in there? No. But it's pretty inconsequential and him just being a regular monster is fine enough IN A MOVIE. It's not something hideously wrong and it doesn't detract from what is a very very very good video game movie. Concessions are made and things forgiven.

It'd be more grievous in a game, but even then I'm not butthurt about them using him outside of 2.

James still being in Silent Hill IS canon, now that I've had some sleep. Frank says they never came back from Silent Hill. This could mean Mary's illness took place entirely in SH, or that James told everyone that he was taking her back there, before she died. Sounds like they never came back at all, if I'm remembering correctly.

Of course, the question of whether anyone gets out of SH is a big one that has never been resolved, but was touched upon in a direct way in the movie.

There was definitely a time in my life I was more embarrassed about music I liked! I just don't care anymore. :rofldata: I'm trying to find songs I really like, but am vaguely embarrassed about liking? Enough that I wouldn't sing along with them in front of people, though one of them is only embarrassing because I know what the Japanese lyrics mean.

Journey totally would've been on mine pre-Glee but I'm kind of sick of them now. Makes me sad.

I think tv theme songs would be a neat one, although maybe there'd be too many repeat songs? It's interesting to me, what tv show themes I usually skip and which ones I always have to listen to all the way through. I love a lot of ending themes too.

Took me awhile to decide on that one actually.

I have a few remixes that are completely re-recorded backing tracks with live instruments and not just a bunch of electronic tweeks here and there and the only part from the original song is the vocal track. Technically that'd be a cover....sort of.

Any buds hurt my ears and they encourage ear infections so I don't bother. On ear is more comfortable and cleaner.
Plus the idea of sticking it into my ear and getting dirty just seems counterintuitive. Especially since ya'll have seen how dirty my ears can get.

Gotta say, I'm not too impressed with the pic quality.

If it's not available in HD, it's the equivilant of one of those 700mb files in xvid.
If it is HD, it's the equivalent of a 700mb in h264.
best viewed on a laptop screen.

I went through my account settings and it showed me streaming preference.
I picked HD when available.
And it showed that averages to be about 1-2gb per movie. Average 110min movie.

But seriously, I can't even have HD streamed too well at all. it lags the system something fierce.
it's choppy because the video downloads in segments. first 7 minutes is like 20 small pieces all downloaded then played and the cycle keeps going.

i don't like internet in that you can't use your own codecs, media players and splitters.

it streams in h264,avc,mpg4, etc.

Microsoft SilverLight is utter shit.
No options what so ever. change buffer size. big whoop.

I want it to treat the film as progressive, zero deinterlacing, color dithering, low latency, dvxa/cuda hardware decoding, manually set the deblocking method.
