I had an issue or two with minor things along the way (I can't shake the tendency to over analyze movies as I'm watching them sometimes) but I thought it turned out great overall. Just ran throught the list of films from 2011. There were some pretty decent ones. Drive and The Descendants being the only ones that REALLY grabbed me.

There were a few more that I thought were decent.

Insidious, Hanna, Scream 4, Fast Five, Bridesmaids, Tree Of Life, X-men: 1st Class, Super 8, Horrible Bosses, Harry Potter 7.2, Cappy America, Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, The Help, The Debt, Moneyball, 50/50, The THing, Hugo, The Muppets, M:I 4, The Artist, Dragon Tattoo, TinTin and The Iron Lady.

So far this year I've liked The Grey, The Woman In Black and The Cabin IN The Woods.

Haven't seen Hunger Games yet.

Looking forward to The Avengers, Looper, Cosmopolis, Lawless, Antiviral, Prometheus, MIB III, Spider-man, Dredd, Frankenweenie, Silent Hill: Revelations and The Hobbit.

Not to mention all the little films that don't get any press and pop out of nowhere. I find those are often the best.

7.00 AM: Woke up. too early. fuck. head hurts.
8.15 AM: leavin' home with le mum. Ferry is at 9.30. everything's cool.
8.50 AM: arriving at the Calais Harbour. went through customs, even though the feckin car was empty. people on DOc island sure are paranoids.
9.50 AM: after boarding, ship is leaving, found a sit next to the bar. first "English" coffee. tastes like watered down shit. can see the inside bottom of the cup through nearly 12 centimeter of coffee.
11.30: Entering Great Britain. first sight to welcome french tourist ? a cop with an HK G36C with tactical light and foregrip. looks at me with murderous eyes. flipped him the bird.
first asshole of the day. then remembered that Doc might be a future man by Cuckoo's standards, but he's a past man to mine. has to rewind my watch one hour in the past. this is going to fuck up my chronology. I'll blame it all on doc.
11 AM: Arrival in Folkestone. Towns looks like a zombie. not completely dead and rotten, but still really decayed when compared to the memories I have of FOlkestone circa 1988. Went into Old high Street, once a nice, overactive commercial street.

NOT. A. SINGLE. ACTIVE. SHOP.

All the street's dead. except in the higher part, with a few art galleries and hispters shops.

11.30 AM bis: parking in the town center. Le mom goes to try and find herself her holy grail, Bronnley Lavender Cologne (bottled, not in spray, mid you). Having lower expectations and desires, I go and get myself a whooper and onion rings at the nearest Burger King. Then DVD shop and first win of the day: Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) for a few �.

12.30: going to Sainsbury. Bought a shitload of Doc Island food (Heinz beans, mint sauce, Scones, Stilton, Malt vinegar). thought of CM, bought myself some Mac n' Cheese. Wonder how it tastes. will try out tomorrow. Got insulted by a chav. told him to fuck off. second asshole of the day.

13.00: Le mom and I part way for a good 2 hours. I go exploring folkestone. raid a few charity shop, got some nice deals. Lots of cheap Tolkien Stuff. I'm a happy docrate already.

13.30: found a real bookshop. How can people read books if they cost an arm, a leg, and your ass' skin ? Still, got my hand on a big lovecraft omnibus, I'll finally get to reread all his main tales on something else than a PC screen. more chavs in the street. A few insults here and there. nothing interesting. Le mom calls me. 3 chemists and still not a single hint of a bottle of Bronnley Lavender Cologne. she's got no luck. The only thing she's truly looking for, and she can't find it. I tell her I found lots of stuff in the 10s or so charities I've visited.

15.00 Finally decides to give it a rest. Explored half of Folkestone town center, took a bunch of photos of a creepy old cemetary, got insulted and nearly assaulted by a CMA (Crazy Muslim asshole). Flipped in the bird. after kicking him in the balls. guy had tried to take the bag where I had my Lovecraft book. no one touches my books and go unscathed.

15.20: after a cup of coffee at Debenhams, and 5 chemists, my mother has lost all hope of finding her Bronnley Lavender cologne. going to the car, I go and buy myself 2000.AD at the local WHSmith store, and gives a piece to an old guy playing guitar like a boss.

16.10. After parking for a solid half hour on the seaside, we decide to call it a day and go back to dover. We manage to snatch a place on an earlier ferry.

17.30. Ferry leaves Dover. Hell then begins. hundred of pupils (French, Belgian, dutch, and english) on board. They scream, I have to kick and elbow my way to the toilets. 4th to 15th assholes of the day. just going to get a coffee is an adventure. worse part is yet to come. I go nearly apeshit while eating a scone in the cafeteria as a bunch of idiots put on Justin Bieber. Suddenly mass murder seems to be an interesting option. I reign in my rage, finish my scone, get up and leave. Had to kick a kid who was trying to deny me leaving the cafeteria. he now has my 42 printed on his shirt. prick.

19.00 Civilization (Okay...France. still...), at last. we go back home, thinkin' it still was a damn good day.

My head still hurts. must be Bieber. Beyond the crazy muslim preacher and a bunch of overzealous pakistanese islamists, no looneys. England, I am Disappoint. All the while... Le mom still laments on her not finding Bronnley Lavender Cologne. She is now planning with military precision how to raid all the Kent Coast towns until she finds a chemist that has some. sometimes, she scares me...

I like unabridged when it comes to the "good books": Dante's Inferno, Paradise Lost, The Art of War. None of those volumized editions where you get 3 chapters per book. It's like collecting comics as they come out when you can wait and get the whole set in one digest.

I love used books. Amazing how once it leaves Barnes and Noble it only costs $1.50 for a hardcover. Makes sense in a way for paperbacks. They are pretty cheap new at no more than 7 bucks.
I use peanut butter to remove stubborn stickers. Smear some on it and let the oil soak in for a bit. Usually comes right off.

used books sellers are a goldmine. not only is it cheap, but often books are in really good state. even if it's not a book seller per se, Oxfam has some sweet eals sometimes (snatched the Tolkien Illustrated encyclopedia and Tolkien's World - Paintings of middle earth for 7�, which roughly equals 8.6 €, against 43€ if I had bought them new. in pristine condition. Same for "Children of Hurin", (Hardcover), 1�, pristine. I've bought more than 3/4 of my collection second hand, either from garage sales, second hands bookstores, charities, Online second hand stores, and sometimes, I found them in the trash. (gotta love that Household waste sorting, as it enabled me to get half of King's dark tower novels for free.)

In other words, buy second hand books. especially if you like horror novels, as lots of classic are only available that way (at least in France they are).

I had a buddy who had weird stuff sent to his house this week.

Expensive clothes and a fancy schmancy $800 watch.

His wife got a call from someone supposedly from the post office telling them they had received packages sent to the wrong house and that someone was coming by to pick them up.

My buddy checked his credit cards and sure enough there were some paypal payments made that they didn't make.

They called the police and the "post office" guy who came to the house to pick up the merchandise was arrested on the spot.

I had a buddy who had weird stuff sent to his house this week.

His wife got a call from someone supposedly from the post office telling them they had received packages sent to the wrong house and that someone was coming by to pick them up.

But I am already used to this one. DBPoweramp.I really like this software. I rip audio cds , and I can convert audio files without neeeding to open teh software. I have added in your right click more options like "edit tagg" and "convert to"
And you get the file after you run setup.exe, go to the folder Plugins and extras and run dMC-ref-codec-pack.exe
it will install al audio codecs in there. They do not occupy much. Everything together might max 80mb. After you run all thoe you will be able to convert any file audio extension to what you want.

Saw The Avengers last night.

The place was pretty packed and it was hard to find seats, but it was worth every penny. I loved everything about it, the action, dialogue, acting, effects. The only character I was really worried about was Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Mark Ruffalo in my opinion did a better job as the Banner/Hulk than any other actor that had came before and the Hulk was utilized magnificently ( :laugh: Poor Loki).
