They had to make money to continue buying the bio-stimulant that keeps them running. Also they wanted some form of revenge on Museum for causing them to lose said funding.

Eternal Movie spoilers

They stumble onto a third group of people vying for Foundation X's money during a job and decide to help the potential "Quarks" (psychic soldiers) escape. The guy running the place ends up killing all of the potentials and Daido Katsumi (far right) loses it. He gets control of the Eternal Gaia Memory which can deactivate other memories near it and kills the guy running the Quark camp.

He decides to turn everyone in Fuuto into NEVERs in Forever A to Z and all of them get killed because NEVERs can't survive Memory Breaks. Katsumi gets the T2 version of Eternal and the others are written such that they have characteristics similar to W's memories. From the left to right: Metal (melee expert, physically tough), Trigger (gun expert), Heat (she hates that her body is cold), Luna (he's flexible, wiggles around).

There's been talk of revisiting them again. I'd love if they could get their own show. I love 'em to pieces.

The Batman & Inception scores had great ideas....but he didn't really build upon them. He just kept repeating them over and over. So much it sounded like a cut and paste.
