You mean in terms of battle systems? I don't disagree, but I think little things can make a big difference in how much fun a basic turn based battle system is. Probably because it is a pretty basic system.

X-2 has my favorite battle system by far but nothing can touch on VI for me. The later portions of the game especially, even if many of my favorite moments come before. It's just so well paced, so involving, and really elevates most of the characters in my mind.

Thinking about it, the characters and the general world are much more important to me than the story in a game like this (even though I love VI's story). I want a world I can't wait to explore, full of townspeople I want to talk to and feel invested in in my own weird way. And I want characters whose individual stories are just as important to me as the game's main story, if not more so.

This is where XIII really succeeded for me. It has one of the best overall casts in the series, with everyone getting a pretty worthwhile arc and good development. No one felt like filler, which is a big issue with RPGs in general. There were aspects of the game's main storyline I wasn't sold on, or that I wish had been better developed, but they really got things right from a character standpoint.

VII's system is more convenient in that you can shift leveled materia around and actually control when you do limit breaks, but VI has a glitch to exploit, so it doesn't really matter.

But that's what makes Kefka such a fascinating villain. VI is full of characters with understandable motivations, whether what they do is good or bad. Then, in the mix is the entity that seems insane, who seems completely evil, and who people suspect may be inhuman. He's unpredictable, has tremendous power, and is able to accomplish things far beyond what most video game villains are able to accomplish. It's not just that he's an interesting character- it's that it's really compelling to see how this world reacts to him. To see what draws people to work alongside someone like this, to see the way he disturbs even those on his side, and to see the way a group of screwed-up but incredible people come together to defeat him. I should probably be posting this downstairs and not here where I'm basically preaching to the choir. :laugh:

Someone said that the trailer for The Avengers was too Hulk-Centric?

I felt it centered on Stark. It might just be because that's what we are looking for in the back of our minds. I'm worried it will be too much Iron Man and others are worried about the Hulks bad movie record (Thor was still better than the latest Hulk movie).

I liked The Incredible Hulk. first because Leterrier did a much better job than Ang Lee at filming a crazy big green monster rampaging the city, then because I like Tim Roth in general.


I really liked both Hulk movies. :sad:

Only Marvel films besides Spidey 2 and Cappy America I've enjoyed more than once.



Personnally I enjoyed most of the recent marvel movies with various exceptions: The punisher and its Sequel (Warzone), Blade Trinity, and surprisingly I guess, the Spiderman sequels. Don't start me of the reboot. X-3 was a monstruosity, and Wolverine was fun in a stupid way. twas okay. Recent marvel movies that made it for me are Captain America, Thor (yes...I liked it. it's probably not as bad as most people think.), Iron Man 1 & 2, Blade 1 & 2, and the X men movies except 3.

There were of course NO fantastic four or Ghost rider movies. never. these were never made. Don't say otherwise. they don't exist. A shame, really.

I shudder to think of what they'd do with Doctor Strange...

i didnt like the soap opera version of Hulk. mostly because the graphics and some of it was :erm: eh.
but it had some strong points, I remember finding it a "guitly watch" because the ending was quite nice.

a "sense" of "reality".
