It's been sitting on my desk waiting for a revisiting too.

I watched all 3 documentary special features last week.....it gave me the thirst. So I never put it back on the shelf for that reason alone. I'm in the middle of Angel and Undeclared at the moment though.

I did all 5 seasons of Angel last summer. I don't know Undeclared . I shall google.

I seem to go back to Angel and Twin Peaks every 2 years or so.

It's like going back home for me.

From what I've seen, the original script was pretty great. Shame they had to PG-13 it.

Also, I think the Devil's Advocate is a pretty terrific movie. I always watch it on TV and when I actually pop in the DVD I get creeped out because I forgot about some of the stuff they cut. Obviously, this applies to Charlize Theron discussion.

I have no idea how someone is to believe that it's blasphemy to a god. I assure you, no divine creature cares where you want to stick things, or have things stuck.

You know how in comics when someone knocks one out they have stink lines? I walk down the street and I have heathen lines. They can smell me coming and gang up on me. One of them got me a few weeks ago. He handed me his pamphlet and I lectured him on wasting paper.

My mom's church friends and pastor/preacher/whateverthefuck kinda give me a wide-berth if they happen to be where I am. This usually happens at hospitals.

They try to make small talk, but it falters pretty quickly and they're left to awkwardly try to carry on as if I'm not sitting there glaring at them.

They get god-points if they convert a heathen. 10 god points gets a golden dildo and a ticket into heaven's tupperware party. No deposit. No return.

I have one that's pretty funny and one that's just mildly strange.

When I was in the process of losing my faith, I was still going to church for a decent while. We had a youth pastor who tried really hard to be relevant and often said pretty stupid things in the process. He'd have print outs of stuff from the internet or would bring in episodes of Friends and try to somehow turn them into a sermon, it was all very silly. Once, in the middle of his sermon thing, he said "It's not like Burger King- you can't have it your way". One of the kids called out something to him about how that was about sandwiches, not people, and he responded "to god, you're even less than sandwiches". Repeated that line for years. ; ;

My weirdest story happened back in 2001. I was actually with FFShrine member crayzieman at the time! We were hanging out in a small-ish city's downtown area, and we saw a group of street performers. I LOVE street performers, so I got excited and made my friends go over to see them with me. Big mistake. They finish the song they're playing (which was not religious as far as I could tell), and the lead singer asks us how we're doing. We respond to this normally, but then he got this really weird look on his face. There was a big pause, then he asked us if we'd been born again.

For some reason, I told him I was Catholic, because I thought that'd get him to shut up. Nope. He starts SCREAMING about how Catholicism is a cult and how they worship false idols and just going on and on. At this point, 2 of the friends I was with booked it, so it was just me and one other guy stuck being yelled at. He hands us these tracts and we try and follow after our friends, but he stops us and is all "WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING". We tried to tell him we were going after our friends, but he kept on yelling and asking us if we'd been saved. When one of us said no, he went on a "WHAT IF YOU DIED TONIGHT" tirade. This included him describing us being murdered and implying that the tracts he gave us might have anthrax on them (remember, this was 2001). At this point, we were too terrified to stand around politely any longer, so we took off running. I feel like he chased after us, but I don't remember seeing it, so this may have been something I convinced myself was happening because I was really scared. We saw our other friends in the car and they pulled up to us, slammed on the brakes, and we dove in. It all felt like a movie scene.

I truly was scared out of my mind in the moment, but it's a pretty awesome story now.

This included him describing us being murdered and implying that the tracts he gave us might have anthrax on them.

Last Crusade was such a good movie. ; ; Of all the franchises to revive, Indiana Jones seems like a strange one. Always like watching Harrison Ford interviews, though. They're often quite bizarre.

I actually "talked" to Jedimon about it. His response pretty much let me know that he was just being his cheeky self.

Which is a big part of why I love him so much. He can have any opinions he wants.

I'm all around fine with Temple. Willy is a problem but not a very big one; 1st movie has a traveling girl, 2nd has a girly girl who hates this kind of thing, 3rd has an evil girl. Makes sense having them varied like that.

It really is incredible! Just to see all these actors come out to encourage the children of Japan like this makes me tear up, and so much of what they say is so touching. ; ; The Blade spoiler bit and Yuuto eating his Shiitake. ; ;

There are a whole lot unposted (mostly from Sentai I haven't seen or stuff I left out cause of spoilers) and that haven't been translated yet. I know Mako, Femme, Gills, and Urataros all wrote stuff and probably more than that.

I just feel like you'd never see something like this in America, in such an en masse fashion. There are actors who help causes, and there are children's stars that would do stuff like this in a heartbeat, sure. Just not sure we'd ever see such a unified display.

It feels like a huge justification to how Toku makes me feel in general. Sunday morning monster shows ARE serious business :D

I'd like to chalk that up to the actors really being involved with their characters, and caring that they're Riders and Senshi ^_^ As a reason that they can write in character so well, I mean.

I almost bought a pack of buttons with that picture on it, but they were REALLY small buttons :( Wouldn't have minded some of their shirts either, but those were also too small for my liking.

I'm experimenting with homemade hamburger patties.

With the usual onions and garlic, I've ground up bacon, sausage, two spicy smokeys, corn, jalapenos, cumin, chilis and tomatoes into the patty as well.

I'm throwing together some homemade cayenne infused chipotle mayo.

Put on some smoked sliced ham, banana peppers and jalapeno jack cheese and I've got the tastiest heartburn/attack I'm ever going to experience.

the other day i made a roux for the first time and made my own cheese sauce for mac and cheese. it was great.

Roux can be fun.

I like making different types of stock too.

Except fish stock. I don't like making fish stock.....there's nothing really like getting your pores opened with fish steam.

Experimenting with different types of cheese for Mac N' Cheese can be great and sometimes not so great too.

What type of cheeses did you use?

since it was the first time i just stuck with the basics and used sharp cheddar.

I've only started liking blue cheese in the past year so I tried mixing that and Gouda Old for my Mac the other week....and OMG it was soooo good.

mandi, while i have you here, i need help. gokaiger was uploaded as a sub standard sd version with soft subs. what does this mean exactly. i remember you saying that the ones previous were hard subs and it was different. should i wait in case they upload it as a hard sub version?

Do you have VLC? Soft subs are easy to use, just download the raw and the subs, open VLC and start up the episode, and then go to video > subtitles track > open file and open the subs file. If you download them to the same folder the subs might load automatically too.

The color coding is extremely appreciated on sentai series, so I think using T-N is probably a good idea.

You can just grab the torrent from Over Time, no need to patch that.

If you don't normally use torrent, I can use HJSplit and then throw the parts up on megaupload. Can try and find an mkv splitter and just do some straight splitting too.

I got the 3 separate D/L's. This might get confusing.

I followed the instructions (mostly, get to that in a minute) and after unzipping got:

3 avi files
Windows batch file
xdelta file
An xdelta application file (exe)
A torrent seed file thingamabob.

The long avi that I had to rename is the 'film' and is perfect as it is except it has no subs.

The instructions say to open the exe and it will produce an mkv, I presume with subs. Eh? I have an avi, I don't want to convert it to mkv. Because it's a collection of episodes put together (isn't it?) I can't search the net to get an srt file to use with the avi.

An srt is all I need to watch it.

The reason I didn't follow all the instructions is because the xdelta application file, that creates the mkv from the avi, has to be allowed by my anti virus. It put me off letting a program I've never heard of make changes and/or install something on my PC. Once bitten... long ago.

Can either you or Neg create an srt file from the soft subs you have?


Was thinking about doing Summer Wars for Movie Club, does this sound interesting to people?

I watched Mamoru Hosod's version of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and thought it was okay. It had heart.
I watched it again about 6 months later and enjoyed it more. I've seen it 4 times now and have fell in love with it. So Summer Wars gets my excitement meter stirring. It was something I was considering buying at some point.

Was talking to Rob last night about how watching a series in an on-going fashion has definitely dampened my affection for it. It's a distinctly less palpable connection.

Feel like chatting with people in between episodes helps a little with this, just because you get the speculation factor and get each other psyched up about stuff. This is if you have a place to talk about stuff where people are somewhat positive towards it, of course. I know if I watch an episode a little late and I miss online discussions of it it feels like there's something missing.
