Mine looks like a hard-edged violent prison flick. :laugh:

It's supposed to be a somber story about a brother and sister reconnecting.

I understand. The simplest solution would be to change the text to a gentler font. That would shift the focus. The real question is 'which walls should talk?' If you show a prison, it implies it's prison walls. If you show a hospital room, it assumes a hospital. Since the actual plot is a road movie, any location fixes the mind in that location. So the real issue may by the title.

As for Look Sharp, I see what you mean, the stripes are reading like Venetian blinds. They should read like an impact slash. There were originally going to be more gradations in the stripes. I got lazy. I should finish the design.

Rereading the description, it sounds like it was the walls of the home they grew up in, which I believe, we never really see. The drag is, I completely see the emotional traumas of the past that are informing the decisions of the present, but when combined with the thriller aspect of the escaped killer and the FBI chase produce a layered story that is difficult to sum up in a single image and/or title. Neat story though.

That's why Look Sharp is what it is. Originally, I was going to do Joe Haldeman's Forever War, but 1) I couldn't narrow it down to 10 tracks and 2) I wasn't happy with the music I found.
So I looked at the problem from the other way around. I looked for pieces that when combined naturally tell a story, and then built that story. The initial inspiration was Watching the Detectives, but oddly enough, the song itself was too on point to make the final cut. I do have more tracks, that add whole plot threads to the story. At some point down the road I may do as another album the 20 track, 2 disc version.

There are some shows that go really bad, and then some shows that aren't consistently great anymore past that point. With Buffy, for example- I think there were rough parts in season six and parts I can't even watch in season 7, but quite a few of the show's very best episodes happened in them. The Gift would've been a wonderful ending to the show in a lot of ways but I just can't stand the thought of losing Once More With Feeling and Conversations With Dead People and the yellow crayon monologue. I guess that's why people keep watching shows too, even when they're not as good as they used to be. For when those glimmers of greatness pop up.

I never hated Riley as much as other folks did. He was pretty useless by the time S5 came around and his character bowed out at the right time.

But the episode where he came back is embarrassingly bad.

All The Way, Doublemeat Palace, Older & Far Away, As You Were and Entropy all were really lacking I think.

Dawn was pretty useless after S5 but wasn't quite as annoying for the most part. :laugh:

I might be mixing up season numbers, Lye. I just remember a period where it started to drop in quality and then some really really good episodes, and then another decline. I know the Tony Hawk episode was when I admitted to myself it was just not a good show anymore. I'm sure it does still have its moments, though.

Sparky: I finished all the Hunger Games books. The first two were pretty good but the last one kind of sucked. Think it might have been good if it was two books? Can nut them all when I'm feeling a bit better.

They don't get too graphic with most of the deaths (it's not really much like Battle Royale, it's more about the sadness of it all/political stuff with way more focus on the fact it's being filmed) but a couple of them are pretty interesting. Second one seems like it'll be really cool visually if they get it right.

I hooked it all up, tested it out...... the cd part was chunkin and not workin..... so I took the whole thing apart, opened it up........ some dummy wedged 3 cds into that poor thing :laugh: So I pulled em out, put it all back together, and it seems to work fine now. :) Yay! Now I can listen to my cds without killing this disc drive in the laptop :p

I first saw it about a year after it was made. I got a chance to see the current version when AMC ran both the dubbed and subtitled versions. The dubbed one pissed me off for some the sound editing changes they made, so I don't think I saw all of it.

Indeed. i haven't seen much of ATLA, but I was surprised at the global quality. highly unusual for recent american cartoons. and a plot. a good plot. character psychology. psychological development. And legend of Korra looks promising. good score, a strong female lead, and very lovable characters (I really like the brothers and the Tenzin/Korra dynamic).

I said one day they'll have to do it. it is more or less inevitable. As for the second part of your question, I guess it is because a digital release cannot be sold as a "collector item". you cannot boast that you have copy n�2566 of 3.000. It is also impossible to re-sell, and let's face it, many buyers and people on the FSM board make it a habit of buying some scores, listen to them for a while, and when the time is right (IE when they can sell it on Ebay for 3 times its real price), they sell it. They wouldn't alienate their supporters, would they (even if they are a minority. but a noisy one, which is always better than a silent majority). Final reason for that not to happen: let's face it, it's easier to retag and suppress eventual watermarks in digital releases than to wait for your cd, rip it, tag it (although that step is easy now). A score release on a monday; 9.AM would be everywhere on the internet by noon.

There are probably other, more subtle reasons.

But subtle I ain't. :D

Collectors? Its my belief that something shouldn't be collectable if It is made for the purpose of being collectable. I mean if the item was rare and definatley valuable, sure. But CDs are easily replicated, ripped, etc. I feel no regret if I download something that someone puts up here if it is out of stock, rather than buy it at a gouged price from some needledick bastard.

Me and Taylor brought home a 30-pack of Coors Light and we CRUSHED it. We CRUSHED that beer, bro. We were crushin' beers and crushin' burgers, FUCKING GODZILLA-STYLE, BRO." Yes, OK. We got it. I'm the only person I know didn't like Batman. I bought it as part of a double pack to get the anime and gave the film away. It was cheaper to buy them together than buying the anime separately for some reason.

Mononoke was my first Ghibli so it has a special place in my memory, even if some of the others are better. Plus Gaiman. :rolleyes:

Sorry to say this but Batman Begins is loads better than Batman '89 in my opinion. I think Returns is better than Begins, and The Dark Knight tops em all. Mask of the Phantasm comes as a close second in my book.

The newer films are too rigid and up their own ass serious. His gruff voice is laughable.

I don't like Batman '89, except aesthetically. I love Returns, though.

Mononoke and Spirited Away are probably the most interesting visually (Howl's is up there too), and Whisper of the Heart is the story that resonates with me the most.

Also, Miyazaki, not Ghibli, but damn do I love Castle of Cagliostro.

Really the only Ghibli I don't like is Earthsea.
