There's:
The first movie that started it all (with James Spayder and Kurt Russell) in 1997 (Roland Emmerich/Dean Devlin)
Then SG-1 started the same year (They mostly used David Arnold's movie score and rehashed it for a majority of the first season)
Then Stargate: Atlantis came out after SG1 was finished.
Then there were 2 tv movies
Then Stargate: Universe came out
and now it's been cancelled and any future plans of a movie for SGU is also cancelled.

After the DVD releases, they re-released them on DVD again.
Only this time thinner packages, and it's largely debatable if anything else changed...
However, they released the pilot episode and called it a movie: "Children of the Gods" which is basically all first 2-3 episodes (however long it took).
But the neatest thing about that release is that instead of recycling David Arnold's score, they got Joel Goldsmith to compose new music for it.
And they also removed some scenes that would keep the storyline flowing and with less scenes that didn't make sense.

]I found a cool little device that plugs into an HDTV via HDMI and plays [COLOR="red"]MKV, DivX, XVID, AVI, M2TS, WMV9, MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, TS, RM, RMVB, FLV, VOB, MOV, MP4 with subtitles files: SRT, SUB, ASS, SSA from a memory stick. It's not released until July so I've time to save up for it. Made by Crystal Acoustics, which are pretty reliable.

This is good news. I'll be able to watch everything on my PC in comfort "next door". :D I can tear through teh Kamen Rider's I've been putting off.

A memory stick... One of my friends bought a media player box that can handle nearly most of those formats, as well as the HD formats.
The neat thing about it was you can hookup an external HDD to it. It can also read and play DVD ISO images (if constructed properly) right off the external HDD.

Waiting on the movie won't ever spoil anything major for you, I don't think. Believe they deliberately try to keep the movie from effecting too much series continuity so people who can't see it opening week can keep on watching. Den-O is the only real exception to this, and really, the movie is still fun when you watch the show first. Was a little frustrating at the time but it's actually really neat how they handled things.

I love this game. Know it can alienate a lot of people, but survival horror games are much more frightening the more helpless you are. That your camera is most effective when the ghosts are right on top of you is pretty great too.

There's also a lot of neat, Eternal Darkness esque creepy out of the corner of your eye. Man, I want a new Eternal Darkness too. Really enjoyable game and with a few adjustments it'd be flat out amazing. It was pretty impressive how often the game succeeded in messing with my head even when I was well aware that the game was doing things to mess with my head.

I don't really know about bitrates on music.... I still buy cds, for the most part. I have the score for the original and Revolutions. The soundtracks for 1 and Reloaded.

I googled it. You get an inlay, jewel case and booklet; I initially assumed it was just a crappy CD-R like we'd make at home.

It sounds like a good deal for unsigned bands. If they set up a marketplace for things like that I'd support it. I miss the old tape trading demo days of yore. Think of the volume of people that would submit stuff, though. It would require a lot of work to maintain. The thing I read said amazon take 60% which is a bit much but any direct profit for a band is a good thing.

I still don't like the idea of it for proper commercial releases.

It's not until you turn the disc over and see the blue hue that you realize what it is.

It's not bad in the short run....it's just that CD-Rs have a significantly shorter lifespan.

Kohana didn't bother me, I did think Hana would come back at the end, then because of young Nogami it made it more suitable that she didn't reappear.

Kohana kicks their asses in just as believable ways, but she gets away with smiling and having fun more than I feel Hana would.

I don't think any of them would be an ideal leading man but for a supporting role there are two I fliped a coin for.

Forest Whitaker or Daniel Day-Lewis. Daniel can be restrained and/or intense, he's almost method at times.
Forest has a vulnerability that might suit a Burton character but the role would need to be written with that in mind.
He could have fit in nicely in Big Fish, I think.

I love Jeff Bridges, and both Sean Penn and Philip Seymour Hoffman can be fantastic in the right role but I don't think an original Burton script would suit them. Last choice would be Russell Crowe. He's Mr One Dimensional in all his films. Can't watch him at all without my thumb cvreeping to the button with the big square on it.

I went for the winner as well but would be happy with either.

I don't think Ewan McGregor was a bad choice at all. I thought he suited the role and film just great.

Mark Wahlberg though. He was a pretty flat Burton actor. The monkey shit in the corner was more entertaining to watch than he was.

I never found Helena to be all that sexy at all really. I found all of Burton's actresses before a lot more attractive than her. Even Sylvia Sydney. :schock:

....and yeah. I am tired of Depp and Burton. Depp brings something different to each role but it'd be nice to watch a film where the film itself isn't eclipsed with "what's Johnny gonna do with this one?"

As much as I laugh at FG, I really don't get a lot of their cultural references, especially the music.
The most I got from their music was the Bryan Adams song and the John Williams reference they keep doing.

Amazon likes to print music on demand now. Some soundtracks are available only in CD-R pressings. They only make them when somone orders them.
Which is the same as me downloading an AccurateRip lossless rip of the soundtrack with a proper cue file and burn it to CD myself. :/
I don't like it.
Dexter Season 2/3 score is only available in CD-R.

Hopefully, this just means it will never-ever go OOP...considering it's POD.

with the direction the music industry is headed, don't be surprised if, in another 10 years, most cds are released this way. more and more people are getting their shit online, less and less are buying actual cds. there will always be a few people that want to buy a hard copy of music, so POD will become more common, especially for niche markets (classical, film scores, jazz, etc). only the highest selling shit (taylor swift, eminem, lady gaga, bieber type crap) will be sold on real cds anymore. not saying i like this, but i think the age of the cd is coming to an end. digital will kill cds just as cds killed vinyl.

Everytime I go to turn the disc over to the shiny side, there'll be my reflection staring back at me... sad as ever :'(

It's not until you turn the disc over and see the blue hue that you realize what it is.

It's not bad in the short run....it's just that CD-Rs have a significantly shorter lifespan.

it's pretty unfortunate, but in a way it's good for soundtrack collectors. when a score is released through one of the smaller labels (FSM, intrada, lalaland, etc) it's usually in limited quantity (5000 or less pressings). once it's sold out you have to find it on ebay or elsewhere for a ton of money (assuming you aren't willing to torrent it).

it sucks the cd-r doesn't last as long, but you can always back it up in lossless on a hard drive.

Some Industrial and Black Metal still get the odd vinyl release, and it's heavy duty shit. It's like three 1990's LP's stuck together. I was a big vinyl junkie and some of the releases in the early 90's were like Rolf Harris wobble boards. Took me a long time to give in and adopt the CD. I'm a grouch.

I was a big vinyl junkie and some of the releases in the early 90's were like Rolf Harris wobble boards. Took me a long time to give in and adopt the CD. I'm a grouch.

You need to spend to get a quality player, and a decent needle and pick-up is a must. I don't know if it's conditioning with me growing up with vinyl or not but I prefer the sound of it to CD's. A well cared for vinyl sounds like warm sex in your ears.

I've heard vinyl is preferrred over CD. But I do think an amount of technicalities is involved.
My family owned a thrift store for awhile and they had a few record players come in. Different speeds/sizes. Most of them needed a little work, especially the needles, and they were altered cosmetically in some areas. So their value went down.
Some of them were from companies that no longer exist, so finding replacements or getting them repaired would cost more than the price it went for in the store.

actually quite a bit of music is now being released on vinyl. a lot of music is also being rereleased on vinyl for the first time, like radiohead albums. i still think it's a pretty small market though.

I agree. As long as they don't try to squeeze too much on each side. Any more than 30 mins and I'd want a second record.

The end of Sgt Pepper's had a loop on the runout groove with that bizarre "Never could be any other way" (or something like that) that went on forever or until you got up and turned it off. It was cool.
