You can just listen to the following here: http://youtu.be/4W9Cs6KPTus

I'm happy to tell you there's very little in this world that I believe in. Listening to the comedians who comment on political, social, and cultural issues, I notice that most of their material reflects kind of an underlying belief that somehow things were better once, and with just a little effort we can set them right again. They're looking for solutions and rooting for particular results and I think that limits the tone and substance of what they say. They're talented and funny people but they're really nothing more than cheerleaders attached to a specific, wished for, outcome. I don't feel so confined. I frankly don't give a fuck how it all turns out in this country, or anywhere else for that matter. I think the human game was up a long time ago, when the high priests and traders took over. And, now, we're just playing out the string. And that is, of course, precisely what I find so amusing. The slow circling of the drain, by a once promising species and the sappy, ever more desperate belief in this country that there is actually some sort of an American dream, which has merely been misplaced. The decay and disintegration of this culture is astonishingly amusing if you're emotionally detached from it. And, I've always viewed it from a safe distance, knowing I don't belong--it doesn't include me and it never has. No matter how you care to define it, I do not identify with the local group. Planet, species, race, nation, state, religion, party, union, club, association, neighborhood improvement committee. I have no interest in any of it.

I love and treasure individuals as I meet them, I loathe and despise the groups they identify with and belong to. So, if you hear something...that sounds like an advocacy of a particular political point of view, please reject the notion. My interest in issues is merely to point out how badly we're doing, not to suggest a way we might do better. Don't confuse me with those who cling to hope. I enjoy describing how things are, I have no interest in how they ought to be. And, I certainly have no interest in fixing them. I sincerely believe that if you think there's a solution, you're part of the problem. My motto: FUCK HOPE.

P.S. In case you're wondering, personally, I'm a joyful individual, had a close and loving marriage, my career has turned out better than I ever dreamed and it continues to expand. I'm a personal optimist, but a skeptic about all else. What may sound to some like anger, is really nothing more than sympathetic contempt. I view my species with a combination of wonder, and pity, and I root for its destruction. And, please don't confuse my view with cynacism. The real cynics are the ones who tell you everything's gonna be alright.

And, P.P.S., btw, if by some chance you folks to manage to straighten things out and make everything better, I still don't wish to be included.

If you can like these artists from these songs, I imagine you can appreciate anything they've done?

It's on the compilation blog. Might offend Bob Dylan fans. First song doesn't really fit the theme, but the beginning is the beginning. Just imagine you walked into a jazz club mid-set or something.

Really glad I'm avoiding spending money right now so that I don't have to talk myself out of buying a toy from a show that I'm not even watching right now

We don't talk about Doc's penis enough. :)

I wonder what it's doing right now.

For some reason this makes me think of how /co/ likes to say that Warren Ellis has a doublepenis. I am pretty sure that this is the primary reason that the board gets visits from him every once in a blue moon.

I'll never understand Christianity's problem with sexuality. I know ultimately it's about controlling people, but still. Way to be opposed to what is probably the defining characteristic of our species.

ASSHATS.

Have you (or any of STShitters) ever read any of the Christian movie content review sites? The sites themselves tend to be more reasonable than you might think, but the stuff people post in the comments is INSANE. These people find sexual comments in the tamest, most innocent bits of dialog. And when they can't, they misquote the dialog so that it looks as though characters in freaking Pixar movies have been talking about giving each other blowjobs. I think they're mostly just afraid to face that they are monster pervs. Like how so many super homophobic people are gay.

Quitely Sandman. I like it. A lot.

Thought of you when I posted it, so I'm glad!

Pat Perry is one of the few people I've posted stuff from who isn't a comics artist. He does however, draw him some Batman, which is all it really takes to catch my interest. He reminds me a little of both Frank Quitely and Gabriel Ba, which is a pretty high compliment!

Geof Darrow is probably best known for Hardboiled and Shaolin Cowboy, but he also did a lot of concept art for The Matrix films. I know him because he did some really great covers for Transmetropolitan. He's less prolific than a lot of other artists I love, and I have to think that's at least partially because everything he draws is so intricate and must take forever. He just does really wonderful stuff.

I think my interest in a lot of comic artists begins with either Batman, Grant Morrison, or some sort of combination of the two, and Simon Bisley is no exception. I think he primarily works with 2000 AD, but he did some wonderful covers during Morrison's Doom Patrol run and worked with Neil Gaiman on Batman: Black & White, which I highly recommend. He's also done a lot of Lobo stuff. He's really good at hyperviolent stuff and I think that's the sort of work he gets offered the most, but I think there's a lot more to him as an artist. Also, Tim from Spaced is based on him. True Facts! Here's a little by him I like:

Phil Noto is a terrific artist who doesn't anywhere near as much work as I think he should. I found out about him via his really beautiful Superboy covers. He draws a lot of fun stuff and I feel like he'd totally fit right in here if he ever stopped by.

And here is yet another random dump!

I used to read those, for laughs. Agree that sometimes the reviews can be very well written.
The comments can make me  and

Those Geof Darrow pics are amazing. So much going on.

Batman: Black & White, which I highly recommend.

I have Vol I and II in hard cover. I never got around to getting Vol III.

This is fantastic. Not because it's the Foo's (meh) because of his lines. They are awesome. Also, I loved Space: 1999 as a kid.

This, awesome. I like Klimt. While watching Elfen Lied I watched the credits every time because I couldn't get enough of the paintings.

He can't fly but he can cosplay. :rofldata:

Wally Woods 22 panels... saved. Liked it.

One of the other boards I visit everyday is constantly attacked by religious and political groups.

The board is currently receiving scrutiny from overly enthusiastic Mormons. The site runner made a bad remark about a film score radio station being shut down to get replaced by a Mormon radio station and the sparks just flew.

The Christian nuts are the most common though. They find the Harry Potter scores particularly evil.

Because the site supports Danny Elfman, it also means it supports negativity towards Sarah Palin. Therefore those nuts constantly come out of the woodwork too.

I was going to quote my favorite bits of artwork you just posted, Ndi............but too many. It'd just be easier to say I love them all.

LOST, Bioshock, stylized Batman profile, PEter Dinklage :D and the Jawa thing are particular favorites.

Really glad people have been enjoying stuff. :)

While watching Elfen Lied I watched the credits every time because I couldn't get enough of the paintings.

When you get around to watching Eden of the East, I think you'll really enjoy the end credits! I watched them every time, anyways. Can't remember the opening credits as being particularly interesting visually, so they probably weren't.

Since we're talking about interesting anime credits, I really liked just about all of the Honey and Clover opening credits. First one will always be my favorite, though.

also, Batman's cosplay skills were what killed Stephanie Brown, back when Steph was still dead~

I feel like when movie makers collaborate with really great artists like that, it always results in awesomeness. Not sure if Shaolin Cowboy is up your alley or not, but the Wachowskis collaborated with him on that as well! Want to say they worked with him on another comic as well, but I can't think of what it was called for the life of me. I never read it but it's probably very good.

Foo Fighters Shrine represent~

In unrelated news, I wonder if I am the only person in the world who debates whether or not a game is too porn-y for them to play.

MangaGamer.com (http://www.mangagamer.com/r18/Titles/Details/359B59DA-2B1C-4FD1-8574-58C8343CF220/kara-no-shoujo)

The game in question. It looks really neat but I feel like random cgs of my character plowing girls will be kind of distracting. Maybe they're pretty much skippable? I figured I would bring this up here because I have no idea where else I'd mention it. This is the only place where I feel free to be this weird~

Neg

I haven't seen (or read, in this case?) much of the Wachowski's stuff outside of Matrix. In fact, the only thing besides the obvious (V for Vendetta) is Bound.

I don't even remember the qualities of that as a movie. Will and I wanted to see it for......ya know. Oh youth~

Not that I'm any less weird, now. Well, to be fair, I don't randomly seek out lesbian stuff because I seek out stuff I'm actually into, not stock interests of 14 year old boys.

You did mention watching Lain! And I'm pretty sure I recommended Haibane Renmei to you, which has a very similar art style. If I didn't, I'm recommending it now!

Lain is really a spectacular show, and the look of it is what drew me to it in the first place. This was way back in the day when you pretty much just bought VHS tapes that looked good and hoped for the best. Back then I didn't really get the difference between animation and art style and I got really offended over some review I saw that gave it a low score for animation quality. Lain's animation certainly never gets in the way of the show being enjoyable and in many parts I think the less fluid animation actually works in the show's favor. Wish my tv was working, really want to watch it now!

This is for the folks who have played Prototype.

I've been studying the generation engine. Wait, is that such a thing? The script/algorithm that generates people/cars/etc. The reason I have been paying attention to it is because I'm kinda anal about using this particular girl as my.....avatar, as it were. The problem comes when I'm advancing the narrative. When you do, as you're aware, you have to consume military officers, and that means they get set as your disguise. Also, it seems like when you're doing missions more Web of Intrigue victims pop up and that means more disguise changing.

It's silly of me to persist in doing this, but w/e, I'm having fun and this is part of it.

If I want her to show up in the specific palette I want (yes, I am that specific about this) I'll grab the first of her that I see, regardless of the colors. This will trigger more of her, in various colors. From there it doesn't take long to find the right variant and consume her.

Basically, the way it works is that if you pay attention to a specific person (or thing), in the form of attacking, consuming, or destroying it, the game will generate more of it. I know this works for cars and not just people for a very humorous reason:

Every time I have seen the tow truck, I have destroyed it, and then went flying off on my merry way. Why, you ask? Because it's pretty much the exact color and make of Larry the Cable Guy's character in Cars. It must die. Well, yesterday I destroyed one and stayed on the ground, running around. I proceeded to come across something in the range of 20 of them in the next couple minutes!

Yes, I do have too much time on my hands. You know this.

GTA was similar. During the steal a specific vehicle side mission it was never to be found except in one specific area. Once you finally got it and drove it to the drop off point it was everywhere, all over, all the time. Spend 20 minutes looking for one, drive past 100 on the way to delivery.

Silent Hill: Homecoming. Fuck you, Konami. Why? You just sucked all the fun out of it. This... why? Too hard, irritating and hateful.

Man, Robbu, back in the day I had to drive across the Canadian border and pay money to get bootleg fansubs on VHS. These were of varying quality and sometimes part of the sub would cut off at the ends and you couldn't read everything. Also, sometimes the boxes were mislabeled and you didn't get the right stuff. And this isn't BACK IN MY DAY hyperbole, it really used to be this hard to see fansubs! We are pretty freaking lucky.

If he does maybe Him, his gal, & you can work something out.

If I am integrating myself into any comic writer's relationship you know it's going to be Grant Morrison's. =p

See, my experiences with the disguises were totally different! I'd try to pick the ideal one and try to follow the person around when there were minimal people around, so that I could kill off all witnesses, in spite of it not being at all necessary. Then I'd try to walk around normally without randomly punching anyone so that no one around me would suspect THE DEADLY TRUTH.

This is why Prototype's story doesn't matter. ^___^

Nothing worse than two people having matching pattern soiled Strawberry Shortcake undies. Makes you wish you'd worn the My Little Pony piss stained ones instead.

I like The Rock. Maybe there's a one movie exception rule when it comes to Bay.

Also, I think a good fight scene should never be boring. It should be so intense that you're afraid to look away, it should be great to watch from a visual standpoint, and you should be able to learn more about the characters from it even if the scene is lacking in dialog.

Of course, I've enjoyed plenty a movie with beautifully crafted fight scenes that don't have much story to speak of, and I've really liked stuff that had a great story but didn't have very well done fight scenes. It's the movies that lack in both departments that I can't stand.

also, Michael Bay and any other directors who do this: RUNNING AWAY FROM THINGS IS NOT A FIGHT SCENE. YOUR MOVIE IS NOT ACTION PACKED IF 95% OF IT IS BAD COMEDY AND PEOPLE RUNNING FROM THINGS. IT IS JUST A BORING MOVIE.

I find a company called Dragon Dynasty is doing some nice presentations.
DD has released the Infernal Affairs trilogy, Fist of Legend, Hero, The Tai Chi Master (Twin Warriors over here), and I think they did an Iron Monkey release too.
Although the DD version of Iron Monkey was subtitled differently than the Hong Kong release IIRC. The subtitles gave a different story and overall feel to the setting.

Doc, have you heard that Yuuto is in Hibiki?

From what I understand he's pretty despised, but he has his purpose. He spurs two characters into action, gets things moving along. I can totally convince myself it's actually Yuuto before Den-O. Just like Zanki IS Jiro

I really thought he was going to grow on me, but he never did. :( Yuuto is still the greatest though, as is Zanki. Where are you?

It's maybe a flash problem. I used to get those when I used firefox.

I did too. Switched to Chrome and everything is perfect.

Also, I love Let's Be Friends Again, but Clark should totally be dancing with Ma Kent. ; ;

I tried to win an iPad out of a grab type machine once. It would've been worth the dollar if they are as nice for reading comics as people say.

also, I assign voices to every character but I generally don't think the sound effects out loud, if that makes sense. There are some exceptions to this, if you snikt what I'm bubin'

Serious bunny shit.

i thought of sts

I like me a nice fappuccino. Especially if it's a group effort.

Especially a group made Maple Fappuccino.

Neg adds in that nice light whipped creamy crown, Tom tosses in the bitterly sweet coffee flavoring and I the maple.

Doc finishes it off with a gentle white chocolate powerding over Neg's whipped fap cream.

fuck that. i'm not downloading a third browser just to watch youtube videos

I updated my Opera the other day and I've been nothing but disappointed with it.

It fuckered with the flash but seems to have fixed itself when I went to go try again before I posted this.

Fuck you, Opera, for making me look the fool.

......and:

Oh yes, Doc. Oh yes. :)

Holy jeebus I hate Keanu's The Day the Earth Stood Still. With a RAGING PASSION. The 5 minutes where he's being a dick were pretty cool, though.

I keep waiting for him to tell Hibiki that he's Preeeeeety strong. "Are you, now?"

Ep. 39

cuckoo77

I never saw the Keanu one.

I kind of wanted to because I like it when he plays cold like that.

This ringing endorsement from someone who likes Keanu as much as Neg does doesn't bode well.

Sexy....

It's a shame the sites I've found either:

A) Don't accept PayPal
or
B) Have INSANE shipping costs
or
C) Don't have the cards that I want.

I'm going to get me some Tenchi Muyo, El Hazard, and Silent Hill cards...some day.

Insane shipping costs just come with the territory. Harsh reality.

Your wallet becomes numb to it, eventually.

Yaro means farmhand. It's an effective insult, though it's tossed around in toku, a lot.

Gets translated as jerk, bastard, ass, etc. Subhouses getting creative. Especially with someone like MOMO who says it every sentence.

If he already has the 13 Riders Ryuki belt he should grab the Legend Rider version, since it comes with normal Knight and Ryuki decks.
