i think he's the least insane of the gop candidates. if you are republican and governor of massechusetts then you gotta be pretty centrist. funny, republicans in blue states are actually almost identical to dems in red states like virginia. i'd say romney is pretty close to a dem like mark warner in his political views. i'd rather have obama (the lesser of two evils) any day, but i really hope mitt gets the gop nomination. if bachmann or gingrich gets it, that will be very alarming. i know libs want that because they think they're unelectable, but voters are unpredictable. undecided voters, to quote family guy, are the biggest morons on the planet. if americans were dumb enough to vote for W, then i wouldn't put it past them to elect one of the teabagger douches

I've never really watched Voyager

it's not as horrible as many trekkers would have you believe. the best seasons were the second half of 3 through season 5. season 7 had some good moments too.

Voyager I gave up on long before the end.

i gave up on it after the pilot lol.

then, years later i borrowed the dvds from a bud. it grew on me. if you can make it through the 1st 2 seasons, it's not half bad.

my one major criticism is that they really overused the borg, to the point that they didn't seem threatening the way they were in tng or 1st contact.

Nice work. It was nice to discover the real reasons as much as the comedy aspect.

The hardest part was coming up with ones that I knew the source and explanation for! There are so many weird old comics I've never read. It's hard to find out the reasoning behind a lot of those, though, so hopefully people enjoy reading it. :) Maybe I'll do a second one with less Batman.

It's always lurking. Some days I'm better at finding temporary distractions to take me away from it. Some days I look around at all my worldly possessions and everything in my life and realize that none of it means shit. Those are the days the Depression overtakes me. I'm finding that the window between those two extremes is becoming shorter and shorter. Not sure what happens after that.

I don't even bother with the "hot" ones. On OkCupid, I end up messaging the overweight, average looking ones. What little replies I get back never evolves into anything. I put so much time and effort into seeming interesting and charming and rewording and seeming smart in those initial messages, they have no idea how much work I put into it. A couple times I hit it off and got 2-3 messages back. And then all of a sudden, they simply stop responding. For no reason. I assume because they get dozens of messages per day, they're able to pick and choose the best and continue from there. Alas, I am not the best.

Well, in my experience, I was a whole lot happier with a female companion. It filled a part of me that had remained empty my whole life. It was like I found my other half. Yes, depression would sometimes seep back into my life, but it was always when I thought she wasn't interested in me anymore, or she was being mean to me, or we got into some superficial fight and I felt bad. I was always nervous about our relationship ending. And yeah, other real life shit would sometimes influence my life, like when I lost my job, I got depressed. But I would have been 100 times more depressed if I didn't have a girlfriend to fall back on. I know it's different for everyone, but I've always been really dependent on the whole female factor. It gives a balance to my life.


also, @ bud, where you're looking for mates is a big factor. if you're looking at bars and clubs, then you're probably looking in the wrong place.

you almost have to forget you're looking, and that's when you'll wind up meeting a girl that's into you.

I've tried the "forget you're looking" approach lots of times. It doesn't help me. Somewhere deep inside, I always have a little fleeting hope that I might find someone. Even when I consciously tell myself to appear disinterested, I know my body language is betraying me. And no, I don't hang out in bars or clubs. I don't drink, I don't have much of a social life. OkCupid is it for me. It's where all the fucking rejects go.

i really liked q and janeway's chemistry. almost as classic as him and picard. he only did the one ds9, i kinda wished he'd done at least one more. i'd always hoped he'd be in a next gen crew movie, though i guess they nicely wrapped his involvement up in the tng finale episode.

i think 'all good things' should've been the basis for the 1st movie, instead of generations storyline.

The Batman took a long time to get good, for me. It did get good eventually, but I still think they missed the boat when it came to some of their character re-imaginings.

Brave and the Bold, on the other hand, was fantastic. Hilarious, smart, great action, wonderful musical numbers, use of obscure characters, and the occasional emotional episode. It really highlights what's special about Batman- that he can be reinterpreted in so many ways. Also, best Aquaman ever.

I'm mostly okay with Alfred and his pistols. He regularly whips out a shotgun in the comics, so it isn't as big a stretch as it might seem. And I do love seeing what a badass Alfred really is. I'm just not sure how well it will work in practice. I also wish they'd used Cass Cain instead of Katana- Cass was in the main cast of a pitched Batman toon they didn't go with- but I get the impression this character is Katana in name only. I'm happy they're going to be focusing on lesser known villains. Cartoons are the best way to get people familiar with these characters.

I'm really psyched for that animation block even if I don't wind up digging the shows. All the shorts look incredible. Claymation Batman. Doom Patrol. AMETHYST PRINCESS OF GEM WORLD.

Wait did Brave and Bold end? I saw something in WWII with an army guy leading Dracula, Frankenstein, Medusa, & the Wolfman into battle with Nazi brain controlled Dinosaurs and decided that it was officially the greated show ever.

rubinek kidnaps data in "the most toys" just watched that one today actually. combs did an assload of guest bits, as brunt the ferengi, weyoun, and shran, among others. robinson was classic as garak in ds9. lloyd cracks me up as a klingon..."give me genesiiissss!" ashley judd was at her cutest in next gen. you know wesley totally put his penis in her mouth too.

I wasn't born with that part of the brain, sorry. I'm a mutant. I think in order to show a girl I'm interested, I have to show interest. I've been so naive and ignorant my entire life, I must have seemed indifferent to more than a few women, but it never made a difference. I'm just one of those people who disappears when other people are around. (Invisibility is my superpower.)



I don't even bother with the "hot" ones. On OkCupid, I end up messaging the overweight, average looking ones. What little replies I get back never evolves into anything. I put so much time and effort into seeming interesting and charming and rewording and seeming smart in those initial messages, they have no idea how much work I put into it. A couple times I hit it off and got 2-3 messages back. And then all of a sudden, they simply stop responding. For no reason. I assume because they get dozens of messages per day, they're able to pick and choose the best and continue from there. Alas, I am not the best.



Well, in my experience, I was a whole lot happier with a female companion. It filled a part of me that had remained empty my whole life. It was like I found my other half. Yes, depression would sometimes seep back into my life, but it was always when I thought she wasn't interested in me anymore, or she was being mean to me, or we got into some superficial fight and I felt bad. I was always nervous about our relationship ending. And yeah, other real life shit would sometimes influence my life, like when I lost my job, I got depressed. But I would have been 100 times more depressed if I didn't have a girlfriend to fall back on. I know it's different for everyone, but I've always been really dependent on the whole female factor. It gives a balance to my life.



I've tried the "forget you're looking" approach lots of times. It doesn't help me. Somewhere deep inside, I always have a little fleeting hope that I might find someone. Even when I consciously tell myself to appear disinterested, I know my body language is betraying me. And no, I don't hang out in bars or clubs. I don't drink, I don't have much of a social life. OkCupid is it for me. It's where all the fucking rejects go.

Thanks for humoring me by responding, by the way, Lye. It's always appreciated when someone takes the time out of their busy day to help someone else. I don't ever take that sort of thing for granted.i know it's fucking hard, being a shy, awkward or nerdy guy. i'm not trying to sound like some sort of expert on women, because i'm far from it. if i hadn't been lucky enough to meet my wife, who is willing to see past my awkward aspie exterior, while most girls wouldn't, i'd certainly be single, because until her i fucked up just about every relationship or potential relationship to ever come my way.

Ah, I thought it was an all DC thing like the Robot Chicken one. I'm so excited for that.

Alfred keeps shotguns in Wayne Manor and in the Batcave, so it's less of a stretch than you might think. There's clearly some sort of disconnect there for Bruce, though I can't recall any writers ever delving into that. I think I'd rationalize it by saying that he kept shotguns there even before the Waynes were murdered, so it's easy for him to see them differently.

Of course, if you go back far enough, Batsy himself wielded guns. And Alfred hadn't been to fat camp~


Wait did Brave and Bold end? I saw something in WWII with an army guy leading Dracula, Frankenstein, Medusa, & the Wolfman into battle with Nazi brain controlled Dinosaurs and decided that it was officially the greated show ever.

We've seen all the episodes (since they air in other regions before they do the US), but I'm not sure if CN has showed them all yet. I don't have cable anymore, so I don't actually watch them when they show here anymore.

It really is amazing! So many good songs, I'm such a sucker for a cartoon with a good musical number. If I made a top 5 list I think I'd have to make really specific rules to narrow it down. I'm pretty sure the DC Nation block doesn't start until 2012. I might have to get cable again, if there's no good way to see all the DC themed shorts and bumps and all that.

I've never even walked out on a movie, though I almost left Pearl Harbor because it was excruciating to sit through.

Alfred was actually an actor prior to becoming a butler. He was an RAF medic in All-Star Batman and Robin (which was also written by Miller!), and that's probably what you were thinking of. He's definitely a pretty capable fighter, though, even before Bruce began working to become Batman. Both Alfred and Bruce seem to be audiodidacts, and they're both capable of some pretty incredible stuff. Maybe it's a bit of nature versus nuture thing. Though Thomas Wayne did once fight crime in a batsuit himself. ;)

Bruce is definitely not comfortable with other Gotham vigilantes using weaponry. He's actually weirdly controlling when it comes to all the Gotham heroes, whether they wear the bat or not. Part of him seeing it as "his" city, I guess. Probably why Kate Kane never uses guns even though she's former military. But he's much closer to Gordon than he is to most, and he's certainly comfortable with him wielding guns. It might be an issue of training to- that he only feels like it's okay for people to use guns if they're not capable of fighting without them.

This is why Bats will always be my favorite. :) Such an interesting character.

Hmmm...I thought in Year One, when Bruce was wounded, and sitting there waiting for inspiration--before the bat flies through the window--he mentions having a butler with combat med training as being another one of the "gifts" his father had provided him?

Then it has been a while since i actually read year one. I had the actual first run issues in my not-quite-grubby little hands....

I have had no contact with Bat's universe in years and years now. I think the last thing I read was Long Halloween...:/

Greetings,

I'm considering investing in your program, but I
have a question for you before I do. Essentially,
I'm no longer looking to hook up with women left
and right. In fact, I think I've met "the one,"
but I'm having trouble making her realize this.
I've been pursuing her for about five months
(during part of which time she was away at school,
but we kept in regular contact, at first through
e-mail and, later, over the phone), and I get the
sense that she's very guarded about relationships.
She's *very* goal oriented (which is one of the
many things I love about her, BTW), and therefore
very busy, and - I suspect - she's been burned in
the past, relationship wise. At any rate, on a
couple of occasions, it felt to me as if things
were moving forward, and then she backpedaled;
perhaps she "got spooked," and took a big step
back to protect herself. Most recently, we were
out for the first time since she finished school,
and - insofar as I was able to determine, I was
getting the green light all night: at a movie, I
slipped my arm around her and she leaned in,
resting her head on my shoulder; later, we were at
a club for a band, and when we were ready to
leave, she reached across the table and held my
hand for a while; on the way back to the car, it
was pretty chilly, and when she complained about
the chill, I stepped over and hugged her. She
responded by stepping into it: she pressed her
face hard into my shoulder, and stepped into full
body to body contact - hip to hip, shoulder to
shoulder and everything in between. When we got
back to her place, I moved to kiss her and she
shied away such that it would have been
*extremely* awkward for me to actually do so.

At any rate, we've gotten together since (in fact,
I offered to cook dinner for her, and she somehow
maneuvered it around such that I was *her* guest,
and she cooked for me) and we talked a while. As I
said above, I think she got a little spooked. She
specifically said that she thought the
relationship could've evolved into something
romantic, but that it hasn't, and she wasn't sure
why. At this moment, she says she doesn't believe
it will. We remain *very* close friends, but I
still believe she's the one, and I've told her
that I'm still going to pursue this, and she's
keen on still spending time together (for her, for
now, as close friends).

My question is this: do you believe your program

like this girl A LOT, and that she's probably a
fantastic woman... and I hate to see you working
so hard against yourself... and screwing this up
when it's right there in front of you for the

that you don't get it... blah blah blah.

But for some reason I feel like I just have to
lay things out for you directly.

Look, man... the reason why she's telling you
that she "doesn't know why it hasn't evolved into
something romantic" is that she doesn't FEEL IT.

She doesn't FEEL IT.

Get it?

SHE DOESN'T FEEL IT!

She doesn't feel ATTRACTION for you.

And you can't CONVINCE her to feel it by
chasing her around and telling her how you "feel"
about her.

like: "If she only knew how I felt about her,
she'd feel the same way" and "If I keep pursuing
her, she'll eventually see how much I love her"

Well guess what?

AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN, HOMEY.

Right now you are playing what is referred to
as a "losing game".

Think of it this way. If you stop on the way
home from work every day and buy a lottery ticket,
you'll win once in awhile. Hell, you might even be
lucky one day and win big.

But your chances SUCK.

You're probably going to lose a LOT more than
you win over time.

Like I said, you COULD win big. There is a
chance. But you probably won't. And I mean
probably with a BIG P.

I refer to the way that you're acting as "Being
a Wussy" (that's the technical term... made it up
myself).

When you act like a Wussy, you do things like:

-Pursue

-Cling

-Share "feelings"

-Act submissive

-Seek approval

-Pine away

This is WUSSY behavior.

It's distinctly FEMININE in nature.

When guys act like this, they're getting in
touch with their inner little girl (and she needs
a spanking in the worst way).

And are you ready for the WORST, WORST part?

When you act like this around a woman (and
ESPECIALLY a "goal oriented" woman who's probably
smart and powerful like yours) they CANNOT feel
the emotion of ATTRACTION towards you.

Women aren't attracted to Wussies.

This is a UNIVERSAL truth.

And by the way that you describe your
relationship with this woman, SHE REALLY WANTS TO
BE ATTRACTED TO YOU!

She's trying, man.

And she probably KNOWS that you'd be a great
guy to be in a relationship with... but she just
doesn't FEEL IT... so she holds back. I'm sure she
WISHES that she could be attracted to you. I'll
bet you money.

Look, you need to STOP acting like a nice
friend guy Wuss IMMEDIATELY if you want this to
turn into something.

You're probably beyond help with this
particular woman, but I'm going to give you a few
ideas JUST IN CASE...

1) Stop calling her all the time (if you do),
and stop spending so much time with her.

2) Start dating other women IMMEDIATELY, and
make sure she knows about it.

3) Stop being all lovey with her, and don't
tell her how you "feel about her" anymore. Stop it.

4) Accept that you will probably be friends
with her forever, and start acting that way.

5) Don't try to kiss her or be physical with
her at ALL anymore until you understand what you're
doing.

Remember, what you're doing ISN'T WORKING.

If you do these things that I've described, you
will probably have the best chance of turning this
around.

NOW, the next thing you need to do is what you

Nah, I think the best comedians are the ones that aren't funny to everyone. Some things are lost when you try to hard to have a broad appeal. Conan just hits my funny spot. I'm sure there are some terrifically funny people I don't get. I don't like Will Ferrell (except the landlady sketch), though I guess that's true for a lot of people.

I went grocery shopping proper, finally! :D I am exhausted and sore (I don't have a car) but I got so so much stuff! Gonna make so many good things. Sopapilla cheesecake! Yeah, I was just going to go with food coloring or that reddish sugar sprinkle stuff. I have some in my cupboard, but I can't remember the name of it and I'm too tired to get up and check. The filmmakers made a film that's meant to be given your undivided attention.

Sit back and involve yourself with the flow of the film.

Commercial breaks, piss breaks, the pause button and shit like that breaks the tone that's being set.

This is especially crucial with horror films because the tone is a MAJOR player in the final product.

PC! Not many of them get translated into English, they're very popular in Japan. Phoenix Wright, 999, games like that are pretty the same sort of thing, though. The writer of 999 actually wrote my favorite visual novel of all time, Ever 17. :D It came out in NA, but it went out of print quickly. I am extraordinarily lucky that I took a chance and bought it right when it came out.

Okay, so it's almost 12/11, one day after my proposed deadline for submissions for the STS X-Mas Album.

I still have not yet received entries from a few choice shit-shooters:

I apologize in advance, but a couple of you got double submissions. I allowed them because I tried to include as much content from you guys as I could, but I think it's unfair to the others and will self-flagellate in repentance.

The most important missing submissions are from cuckoo and Sparky who are contributing (last I heard) original creations, so I understand it'll take some extra time. I'm willing to extend the period to turn them in, especially because the tone of this set hinges on whatever these two submit, but it's only two weeks till Christmas and I wanted to be able to give it a little bit of airtime. Not trying to rush you guys, just a friendly reminder to hurry the fuck up. ;)
