My stomach sank:

I must see this. All my friends are like "OMG thiz movie is sooooooo scary" so I had to have some good confirmation from someone else.

I had the complete opposite reaction. I laughed at "The Grudge".

Looks like it's a fap fight to the finish.

Maybe its because it reminded me of FEAR which (at least the first one) traumatized me a little the first time I played it. I didnt even really watch it. It was almost background while I played BF2142 back in 2009. It just kept consistently getting in my head. Where as The Ring was far more dramatic and much better as a movie. Samara's father's (Brian Cox) suicide was very well pulled off.

I wanted to love The Grudge. I really did.

I was a huge fan of Buffy and was eager to see SMG in a film. Plus Sam Raimi's named attached as producer and Takashi Shimizu, the director of the original film on board, I thought it had to have some great qualities. Plus the Asian horror remakes hadn't worn out it's welcome yet.
