What was your thoughts on Dead Island bud?

I started up a free trial on Gamefly.com in order to play it. Unfortunately I didn't do my homework. All I knew about it was that great teaser vid that came out last year. I was expecting a 3rd person action-adventure, but it ended up being 1st person. I hate first person games. Everytime I die, it's always from behind or the side, because I can't see what the fuck is going on. That game was a cheat, especially when you would get swarmed out of nowhere. I never stood a chance.

Storywise, the game is ho-hum. Zombies storm an island, yipee. Gameplay is about your average GTA clone. Doing a lot of pointless side missions in order to gain money to upgrade your weapons (why do you have to pay for anything in this game? It's total anarchy. Makes no sense...). I quit playing after awhile because it became so repetitive and boring. It's been more than a month and I still have it out from Gamefly. I guess they win in the end. :-P

Lately, I've been so immersed in horror movies, I haven't had time to shoot the shit or do anything, let alone start it up again. I was planning on doing a nut on it when I was done, but who knows when that will be? My completist attitude keeps me from returning it until I've finished it.
