Naw. It's only this one person on youtube is the only person that I know of that actually physically has this show and very slowly encodes and uploads them. I really liked Doggett and Reyes.

...but no...they were no Mulder & Scully.

The series finale of The X-files was pretty disappointing too.

I thought the final season was pretty good though.

I have to say, I liked Doggett a lot. he was so different from Mulder, and at the same time he had that "tough as nails" thing going...(Robert PAtrick was awesome in that role, even if I kept waiting for him to cut people in piece with his forearms changed in liquid metallic blades :erm:).

As for the final season, I don't remember that much of it :erm:. I should snatch the DVD sets from season 5 onward, as I have pretty much all the first four seasons (minus a few eps irrelevant to my interests) on VHS. I recorded them at the time, as it was either watch X-files OR Poltergeist. A choice had to be made.

Now I regret not recording poltergeist. only one season on DVD, second one pretty much only for US amazon customers. Fuck you, MGM. fuck you to hell !! :notgood::mad::erm:

the dialect for that movie was based on ancient Chinese to match the time period they were aiming for.
and even the actors, fluent in Mandarin/Cantonese, found it difficult to remember it all.
syntax is different. characters meant different things back then.
there were even more characters back then that aren't used anymore with different and the same meaning.

I studied it a little while studying history (we had a whole course on how to transcript and study medieval texts), and the whole thing was...weird. I'll try to find an exemple tomorrow, with a transcription in todays french and an english translation.)

it should. afaik, jdownloader doesn't convert formats. rather it just seeks out the different formats that youtube has on its servers.
no transcoding.
your other program, should be the same.
most programs caught on to the zero-transcoding bit.

if anything, it's just saved in a different container file.

may still be mpeg or h264 inside an AVI, mp4, etc.
i'm not sure if the original files are stored on the servers. or just maybe available to the uploader's account.

Well, as far as dialects went, we had a shitload of them in France. first you have to understand there were two families of dialects. one in the north, the "Langues d'o�l" and one in the south, the "Langues d'oc". within each of these there were differnet dialect. the map below show a rapid example: the langue d'oil dialects (in green)

I lucked the hell out on project selection for Music Appreciation.

We ran out of preselected topics, so I asked for fim score.

I got it and I have 3 months to work on it.

Any suggestions? I really want to incorporate most of the greats imo (Williams, Goldsmith, Poledouris, and Elfman) along with some more diffrent people.

no discussion of film score history would be complete without mentioning the golden age composers: the ones i consider most important are miklos rosza, alfred newman, alex north, and of course bernard herrmann. herrmann is especially important cuz i think you can really hear the genesis of the modern styles in his scores...elfman even stated he was the reason he was inspired to get into scoring...i can also hear some herrmann influence in williams...the seventh voyage of sinbad is a good example of great classic action adventure scoring

something else you may or may not want to discuss would be composers that started in rock/pop/jazz...elfman, of course, but also mark mothersbaugh and stewart copeland are good examples. kamen also has ties to rock music, having worked with pink floyd and bowie, to name a couple. a lot of people don't realize this, but barry also started out in rock and roll...the john barry seven was a major force in british pop in the early 60's, and his rock and jazz roots can be heard on a lot of his film music, especially his earlier scores.

i know i'm forgetting a few but if you need feedback/input, i'd love to give it.

Some like themes, others work with the motion on screen, while others work with the emotion on screen, and while even more others will like to play with atmosphere/moods.that's why i love barry...very theme oriented. and of course williams with the leitmotif...i love his work in the 80s when he would a different theme for every action sequence

Underdogs like Eric Serra are beyond comprehension to the normal film score lovers.
He's so in tune with his work and how he relates to the director.
It's so subtle, it's almost like the score wasn't meant for that movie.

At first glance, Eric Serra doesn't seem fitting for James Bond. Most would say John Barry, Bill Conti and David Arnold. But bring up Eric Serra and Goldeneye, you'll immediately see the respect that is given in their eyes.
He's not the first one you think of. He's also not the last one you listen to.his work with besson is my favorite...he was born to score fifth element...no other composer could've done it quite the same. i'm a little more lukewarm on goldeneye though...not great but better than arnold and conti, for sure. it's just sad that barry never got to score for the brosnan/craig era


@aden you should at least take a look at the italian born composers as well.

morricone is the giant of course, but also goblin, with their 70's prog style that worked so well in dario argento's horror films (did you know their theme for deep red/profondo rosso was one of the things that influenced carpenter when he wrote the halloween theme?)

also, bruno nicolai, fabio frizzi, giorgio moroder (he hasn't been active in recent years and seems to get overlooked a lot now but he's worth mentioning if for no other reason than scarface and midnight express),

and more recent guys like dario marianelli are also great.

@ Aden : Don't forget to study the composer's musical background. it's often quite important. Williams' and morricone's background are very interesting, same for Vangelis or Zimmer.

iirc, williams began in jazz (many of the composers that started in the 60s did)

morricone was a gifted child, composing music at an early age.

anyone else kind of find it funny and awesome at teh same time that whatever sword fight you watch, you can always tell who dies (and not just by the main character fighting :laugh:), but like how they die.

It's all in their stance.
even if it's near the end of the movie where the main character could possibly die, you watch how every one of them goes into their initial stance and how they change to their next stance, you can see who's going to die and how.

2. P. Head isn't a boss that needs to be beaten. He is a symbolically literal embodiment of James's unconscious need to be punished, due to his repressing of the fact that he killed Mary. Yeah, symbolically literal...

He is also a representation of James's sexual perversions and need to be in control. They've made him into a series mascot, but they've wisely left him "unbeaten" save when James faces both of them at the end of 2. They destroy themselves, in the end. He only WITHOUT QUESTION shows up in Homecoming and the movie as cameos.

He can only be faced and resolved once he is no longer needed. I.e., when James faces the truth.

Alex becoming one in one of the endings of Homecoming is the only truly contentious thing done with him so far. There is a painting of him in the Historical Society in 2 and it is easily theorized that James used that in creating an avatar for his instrument of punishment and they are indeed inherent to the town itself.

I only take issue with the fact that they seem to want to make him a symbol of punishment for EVERYONE who stumbles into Silent Hill.

Alex never saw the Historical society. Therefore, I feel comfortable in always arguing that they are UNIQUE TO JAMES GODDAMMIT even if they were indeed a figure present in some literal way when the town was a civil war prison camp. Or even if they were only an artist's rendering of the atrocities committed at that time.

We can write off the only canonical siting of him outside of 2 (in the Grand Hotel) as James's wandering soul in some form. Assuming that the In Water or Resurrection endings are canon, of course. We'd like to believe Leave is canonical, but you have to be pretty optimistic to think that. You know, just passing by~

The knife in the elevator door at the beginning of Homecoming? Just a big knife. Only reason you'd think it was the Great Knife is because a similar thing happens in the movie. Movie stuff is easily written off as them wanting him in there. Should he have been in there? No. But it's pretty inconsequential and him just being a regular monster is fine enough IN A MOVIE. It's not something hideously wrong and it doesn't detract from what is a very very very good video game movie. Concessions are made and things forgiven.

It'd be more grievous in a game, but even then I'm not butthurt about them using him outside of 2.

4 feels pretty stand-alone, even if you haven't played 2.

For whatever reason, part of why 5 is great is because it at least has the trappings of the old guard. Might only be Wesker, at play, but whatever. It's the stand-out characters/mythos of the originals with the camera that actually makes tank controls work.

Co-op, light grinding, buttery smooth.

Silent Hill environmental puzzles are just as easy as RE.

They just usually have 3 logic puzzles with varying degrees of difficulty. Perfectly fine on easy and normal. I've only done 3's on hard and they were....fucked up.

One didn't seem to work out correct and one just required WAY too much outside info. I think that was the optional one in the library, though. The main ones being kinda off is the biggest problem.

Putting the save location inside a console was the worst move ever made (microsoft?).

Get in the habit of backing your PS3 saves onto a mem stick before shutting down, it takes about 2 seconds. Never lose game progress again, even if the hard drive fails or you want to pop in a new one and have to format.

Im pretty sure the game starts out in NYC, and then he is run out. Even though most everyone he knows is dead, I'm more than ceartin he still has a load of enemies that he cant take on all at once. For Max, NYC is just the grave of his family, friends, and his sanity. The devs want to get a feeling that your a stranger in a strange land. Max doesn't speak portugese so the player wont see translations. Max doesnt know what he is getting himself into.

The 2 USB ones didn't have the lift up flap. It lifts up very easily so if it seems not to have one then it most likely doesn't.
