I always wanted to make a little album using oldies music used in horror movies.
Shutter Island, The Shining, Insidious.
I tried to google, but google sucks :/
I only found two articles and lost one of them already.

Here's a list with music but some of it ventures into more modern sounding 'old music', such as Zodiac.
I did want "Bang Bang by Vanilla Fudge" on the volume, but felt it didn't sound as old as the other songs so I opted out on that one.

I love the 2nd & 3rd scores. Zimmer's best work since the '90's me thinks.

I was so excited for the 4th Pirates score and it turned out to be a colossal letdown.

EZIO�S FAMILY
Dammit. And it just keeps getting better.
It builds and builds with such drama and stirring effects. This stuff is fantastic.

LEONARDO�S INVENTIONS, PT.2
I love the mixture of strings, classical guitar and piano, with this soft textural airy sound. Very nice.

VENICE ROOFTOPS
This reminds of something John Murphy or Clint Mansell would compose. I suppose it�s the urgent guitar strumming. The voice work is mixed in very nicely. Not too noticeable but brings a great deal to the table.

VILLA UNDER ATTACK
The choir work is great. I�m a sucker for chanting. Anytime. Anytime.

I really used to care about the covers. Just the track list cover.
The initial cover was always fun to do.
But to make an inlay of the tracklist was another task.
:sad: it eventually proved to daunting of a task. So I just skipped it altogether after my first volume.
As long as the idea gets across, the cover should be easy-peasy.

Not intense or latent with action and funneys like the earlier ones. not at all action. all the action you see is what's revealed in the trailers. the funny parts too. still makes me laugh at a few scenes.

And honestly, I don't remember hearing the retail soundtrack.
And I haven't downloaded the "complete/expanded/every note versions" either, but all I heard was the common pirate motif established in the first movie.
An okay watch. Nothing to jump about for the music or even ask for every unreleased track.
And if you can watch it free, by all means do so!

also, before i forget. The Adjustment Bureau is very much worth it.
Nowhere near as bad as "The Box" (with X-Men's James Marsden and Cameron Diaz).
I thought it would be similar to that, given what the trailers reveal. But it's so much more than that.
The trailers nowhere near reveal the quality of the overall movie.

I'd recommend watching that over Pirates 4 any day of the week.
And I would actually pay to watch TAB if I had to choose which one. (In fact, I did, rented on DVD :))

I'd watch any film based on a Philip K. Dick story. Love Dick. Most of them fail but there is always the chance they will do the man proud.

I thought TAB played too safely and was terribly rushed in several spots, especially the tagged on ending to please the studio execs. What a pile of preachy the angels are among us crap.

I'm kinda harsh with scores as well, unless it's something that tugs my fanboy chain and then I try to make that apparent (F451 and Carpenter) because I know I'm being slightly biased.

Almost everything Kubrick gets a 5, most of Lynch, Cronenberg etc. I'm on safe ground there as the films always deserve full marks.

I thought TAB played too safely and was terribly rushed in several spots, especially the tagged on ending to please the studio execs. What a pile of preachy the angels are among us crap.

The Fly is a wonderful piece.

I always thought of it as an Opera...without the opera.

That makes an odd kind of sense. :-P The way it's structured in acts, and the relationships. Nice.

Supernatural is great, and shit. When it's good it's really really good and when it's shit it's a rehash of tired old horror movies. I have the first 4 or 5 seasons. And the anime. Anime was poo.

I'd very much like it if Shore released an album of The Fly opera.

Probably won't be getting one anytime soon though. He's hard at work on The Hobbit now and wouldn't have time to oversee the recording process of his opera.

I had The Evil Dead opera once. It wasn't great but it was funny in places.

Nowhere near as bad as "The Box" (with X-Men's James Marsden and Cameron Diaz).
I thought it would be similar to that, given what the trailers reveal. But it's so much more than that.
The trailers nowhere near reveal the quality of the overall movie.

I'd recommend watching that over Pirates 4 any day of the week.
And I would actually pay to watch TAB if I had to choose which one. (In fact, I did, rented on DVD :))

Once again, I'm alone. I thought The Box was great, The Adjustment Bureau was even better, and the new Pirates movie was good (but predictable, like everyone else has said).

I'm surprised people haven't been talking about Source Code more; it's a great sci-fi, but it would've been better if they cut it 5 minutes short (the usual "tagged on" "happy" ending).

They both played against type with this movie, much to their credit. It's definitely Kelly's best after Donnie Darko. I'm not sure why it divided audiences so much.

A little research doesn't tell much, but the opera is loosely based on Cronenberg's version. Cronenberg had a huge hand in the direction of the opera as well. They did however set the opera in the '50s which is a huge change and lot of the key transformation moments that made such an impact in the film are completely absent.

I can't think of a reason why Shore and Cronenberg wouldn't reuse themes from Shore's 'The Fly'. Reading the liner notes, Shore indicates he wrote The Fly score with the intention of an Opera quality to it.

I dunno. Nothing to prove either way. :confused:
