You can get cops involved but cops can be huge bullies too. A friend and I had a bad incident with a cop when we were teens. We are lucky that her mom picked us up and was really awesome. Cops just seem worse now, though that's probably just because the internet means awful cops get more publicity.

I feel like a lot of this stuff isn't even bullying. There was a "bullying" suicide around here, and in the news reports they were saying she'd been sexually assaulted, had glass bottles thrown at her...I mean, that's a lot more than bullying in my mind. I feel like we go out of our way to diminish the awfulness that people do sometimes. Stuff gets labeled as bullying or domestic violence when really it's people absolutely beating the shit out of someone or torturing someone.

I HATE bullies. I've been bullied in school, and that's the worst part of my life. I was humiliated in every possible fuckin' way. the beatings were a part of it, but not only. Random acts of "sabotage", like shredding (or even once burning) my notebooks. they went as far as pining thumbtacks on me, repeatingly kicking me in the balls and racketing me.

I wasn't the kind of kid that looked easy to bully, mind you. I was relatively big and strong for my age, but I didn't know how to react in front of a bunch of assholes like that. I was more or less alone, the school teachers didn't move a fingers, so I eventually broke down, and even tried to kill myself.

When I went back to school after the easter holidays, I had decided that fuck it. it was them or me, and now I was going to hit back. I had my parents blessing to hurt them, and I went back with a whole paraphernalia of chains, reinforced gloves, brass knuckles and a little training with my mother's companion, a truck driver who wasn't a stranger to fighting. It's also at that time I discovered wrestling, and, believe or not, without the wrestling mat nor the precautions wrestlers take, a sidewalk slam can hurt real bad.

April, May and june of that year saw me often come back with detention hours to do the next wednesday and bruises. but in the end...they called it quit. I was mad, acting like some kind of berserk lunatic and I didn't care anymore. So I literally tore them up. One of them still limps and another, I've been told, still makes nightmare about me. most of them were expelled at the end of the year, after various other kids complained, as they were less afraid of these guys, who were more or less forced to fight me on a permanent basis.

a few years down the road, the school fucked up big time. they let of those guys come back, in highschool now, but he could still prey on younger kids. One of said kids killed himself IN the school. after leaving a letter about the bullying he had endured.

So yeah...I can relate to the bullying problem, even if I'm the exception to the rule. not many kids are physically strong enough to fight their way out of bullying.

There’s been a small amount of Internet furor over an angry, dismissive negative review by Roger Ebert of the movie Fanboys: a review that can, at best, be described as an outright flame of fandom everywhere. The controversy isn’t over the film itself (which, admittedly, does not look very good), but that the ‘Bert claimed that Star Wars fanboys, and indeed, anyone who would consider sitting in line for a week waiting for a theater screening (Browncoats, Trekkies, you name it) are living an “idiotic lifestyle.”

This puts me in a weird position. Most of the work I’ve done for years is the critical equivalent of uppercutting fandom in the balls. I started by spending about five straight months writing essays about why Star Wars sucks and why Boba Fett is a phony. I’ve taken shots at Whovians, Battlestar fans, and of course, Squareheads (my term for Final Fantasy geeks). And yet, I feel directly insulted by Ebert’s remarks. I’ll be the first to admit hypocrisy in taking the fans’ side here, but I’m asking for a letter of marque on this one.

In an attempt to (weakly) justify myself, yes, I do enjoy tipping the sacred cows of fandom every once in a while. It’s fun watching fans get militant and flustered in impotent Internet rage, posting screaming, incoherent diatribes online in retaliation. Once again, I think it all comes back to my own unique blend of hypocrisy and my self-effacing nature. For every Star Wars slam I make, I expose an irrational worship of the old sci-fi show Sliders. Every time I issue an Internet bitchslap against people arguing who the best Doctor is, I’m embroiled in another argument about whether Deckard was a Replicant, and getting in my trillionth argument about AD&D alignments in another forum thread. I’m a fan. My crusade is against blind worship. I love a lot of weird stuff, but I can still admit that it’s flawed. I don’t care that you love Doctor Who, but don’t try to claim that it’s never sucked. It has. It does. But real fans can still love something in spite of– no, because of its flaws.

That’s me. I love you guys, and you’re a load of flawed, screwed-up weirdos. But that’s okay. I am your king, and you are not alone.

I'm listening albums and trying to cut songs and just rocking out to everything instead. If there's something really special about one song it's easier but when the whole album's great it's hard. Trying to decide whether I want something cute and funny or something full of energy and wonderful, something with audience participation or something that changes up the song in a neat way, something with amazing solos...but this playlist is really fun.

I used to want to do that. Re-rooting hair seemed like lots of fun but the rest seems kind of awful. Really the only thing I've done is fix matty pony hair, because it's kind of necessary. I assume you have G4s though, hair might be different. I only have experience with G1 and G3 molds.

Actually I wasn't modding a figure. Equestria Daily is having an art contest based on felt board things........ only I don't have felt so I was cutting out paper and card board bits......... It's a horrible wreck of insanity.........

I've never liked the hiss of cassette tapes so maybe I had more of a dislike making tape comps than most people. I still used to do them because I loved sharing the joy of music.

As long as the themes are still fun and interesting I don't think the quality will suffer.

Good list though. I really love Ra's. Sometimes more than the Joker, even though that's blasphemy. He's just not used quite as much, so he feels more special when he shows up. Joker still gets plenty of moments in spite of himself, though.

Batsy has a lot of really good single story villains too.

The thing I love about Pyg is that he doesn't feel comic book crazy, he feels legitimately mentally ill. Hope they don't take that away in the new cartoon. Also I read him as Rex Harrison.

I like Riddler better as a semi-good guy than a villain (though he can be a very good villain). One of my favorite Riddler stories is the Scott Lobdell GSC one-shot where he's working as a private eye and he bluffs having a Bat-Signal hidden in his cane.

My Bats comic this month starts the new 52 (reprint). Cant wait to get it. :happycroc: Couldn't afford the import first run.

I might have put Two Face lower. I think he doesn't have as many great stories as the others up near the top. Long Halloween was just so good people forget there aren't a huge amount of great Harvey stories. Still a wonderful character when done right.

It's so so good, and the art is amazing! Hope it's Scott Snyder/Greg Capullo's Batman! If it was the only Batman book I read I think I would be okay. Really enjoying Batman and Robin too though, and so excited for Morrison's Batman to start back up in May. The one-shot was amazing. ^^

I'm not sure I would've put Hush on the list either. The best thing about Hush is that it's a showcase for so many Batman characters, heroes and villains. It's not just about Hush.

I think Scarecrow is great but rarely gets good stories. The same is often true for Mr. Freeze, I don't think he really became a good villain until B:TAS aired Heart of Ice.

Killer Croc doesn't get many good stories either.

I was a little disappointed with Hush. It started great but the ending was less than stellar. I think, like you say, it was a good vehicle for all the other players. The art work was great.
