I talked to Doc about continuing the 10 SONGS project after I was done my 10 volumes (after I'd taken some time off with the project of course). Only for the next batch I'd completely changing the format. I couldn't think of anything to do differently at the time so I just abandoned the idea .......but this gives me an idea.

ya know i usually hate sfx and dialogue in fan-made ost expansions but it didn't bother too much in the esper edition, since i grew up listening to the official version and had gotten used to the dialogue that was purposely added to some of the tracks.

well they have no dialouge, I dont have a problem with some dialouge such as the one you mentioned

A track I couldn't imagine without the dialogue is "tears in rain"...I just love this movie and its bootlegged soundtracks. but the EMS is really a wonderful job. probably the best I've heard yet.

Disc 3 contains dialouge tracks and other things random. First Track is all the adds in the beginning advertising the colonies.

i am an idiot about a/v. i use mp3 320 bitrate because it uses less space. i know it's lossy but with my crappy speakers and earbuds it doesn't really matter. usually if i dl flac or lossless i just convert to mp3 anyway

I download lossless/flac if i'm not planning on buying the product. I usually convert and keep a file of both.

Using the lossless/flac for editing suites together to try and preserve the best sound quality possible when I finally do the final mixing/rendering.

when it comes to fan-made osts, complete isn't necessarily better. takehiro doesn't make complete bond scores but that's because he won't include sfx-ridden cues. sure, you can find a complete version of moonraker but it's gonna be full of shitty sounding cues with sfx. that can be quite distracting to listen to.

i'm still not sure which bladerunner to get. i really don't feel like listening to every vversion.

Williams imo. Sorry but Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Hook, Jaws, Superman, and Schindlers List Are some of my favorites and a staple of my childhood. Still love Goldsmith though.

I loved the Total Recall score. Goldsmith is in my top ten composers.

star wars and jones. jaws is pretty good. schindlers is really nice.
i got mostly star wars though on my action playlist for action games. a couple tracks from jones.

i love cranking up the volume when i listen to "the battle of yavin" especially if i'm driving

IDK why but out of all the Indy movies I prefer the soundtrack from Last Crusade. Scherzo for Motorcycle, Escape From Venice, and The whole tank sequence score are in my Battlefield playlist.

i also love how williams has the short round theme playing as a counterpoint to the main indy theme during the temple end credits.

this really is a tough debate but i still kinda lean toward goldsmith, i suppose because he is slightly more diverse and creative.

this is another cue i have to crank up loud. drives my wife crazy.

The score is very underestimated, almost like Hook but on the complete other end of the spectrum. Too bad there is no fx free complete score for either. There is one Hook complete here but it is pretty inconsistent in quality. There also is one for Lost World but it also suffers from fx.

i'm not gonna lie, i'm pretty lowbrow about classical. when i heard holst's planets suite i could totally see why highbrow classical fans say every sci-fi composer has ripped him off, though i wouldn't say it was ripping off but borrowing and paying homage.



i will have to check these scores out. i don't game much anymore so i'm not up to date on his work.

Imo Kyds works stand up pretty good without playing the game. With Assasins Creed you just have to know the location in which it takes place. Freedom Fighters uses a lot of Russian choir and synth music, can be fast paced and there are some more melancholy tracks.

Williams gets my vote.

For Empire Strikes Back, JP: The Lost World, HP & The Prisoner Of Azkaban, Munich, Revenge Of The Sith and the Superman Theme.
i do love all of these scores.

Although Goldsmith receives top marks from me for Alien, Planet Of The Apes, The 'Burbs, Looney Tunes: Back In Action, Star Trek: TMP and The Mummy.
alien, apes, and st:tmp epitomize science fiction, for me at least. the burbs is soo over-looked and i love how he inserts zany sound effects and also lampoons his own various styles, reusing the patton theme for the bruce dern character, for instance. burbs is almost avant garde meets classic comedy scores. the mummy is another good one, i love the camel race cue.

i also love star trek v, first contact, omen, freud (many of these cues appear in alien) and first blood.

I bought Lost World. I wished it had more cues in it from the movie. It's missing a lot of great segments than what the retail has.
In whole of the trilogy (3rd done by Don Davis), I think 2 was vastly under-par for released music.
The T-Rex scene is missing from when they're camping at night and get attacked.

:erm: I forgot about The Omen and First Blood. I meant to mention those.....and Poltergeist and The Haunting.

jurassic park is one of the 1st scores i ever owned. got it on cassette tape when i was 13

lol I really wanted The Omen to be the graduating song in my highschool :laugh:
Instead we got some crappy Vitamin C song "Friends forever" :mad:
Everytime I watch Scary Movie 2, I think back to highschool and those soulless dicks :rofldata:

stargate was another early one for me...david arnold should do more sci-fi
