At first I thought that donut burger was frozen food with frost on it and was really confused.

Is it too late to do a 10 songs thing? I'm procrastinating and figured I'd throw one together from what I'd been listening to the past couple of days.

haha, looking stuff over I kind of want to make this even if it is too late, what a weird collection of tunes.

No, not too late. Most of us are either done or close to it and thus will need fresh meat for some audio time fun. Have fun!
Do themes, arrangements, or just any random stuff thrown in no particular order. Make fun album covers.

That could work.

We've kinda already been doing that. I recall your Babylon 9 posts a while back (TV movies, but still). Sometimes television programming feels a lot like movies (i.e. LOST). It was just a thought. It'll still be the same three contributors either way.

I think Tom was interested in it too.

I thought about doing LOST's pilot episode for The Nut but decided against it.

Doc and I will be doing up some example posts and sharing them with the rest of the authors.

Those were TV movies. I have one more to do but not ready to watch it yet.

I like how we keep things brief, and I really like your writing style. You're perfect for what I had envisioned.

I think a TV series needs more words, though. It would be unfair to fit a whole season into 100 words.

The TV series needs a lot of thought put into it.

The VIDS ones practically follow exactly the same rules as Movies as bud displayed when he wiped his Nuts on Uncharted 3.

I have a few slightly different ideas for the music posts.

Well, thank you. I admire everybody's unique writing style as well.

I got a little too self-indulgent last month (so many nuts...), but I've been trying to reel back my words and keep them as short and concise as I had in the beginning. I still cringe every time I read back one of mine. :-P

It's not really interesting! It just makes me sound creepy. There's a squirrel that died right along the path I take to walk downtown, and since I live in the middle of nowhere no one has cleaned it up. I thought it was kind of cool to see how it decomposed every day when I'd walk by. =/that's not creepy. i had a similar experience with a dead bird when i used to walk to the bus stop as a kid.

All right, kids.

Doc and I have been somewhat busy all day throwing ideas back and forth as well as setting up another blog (for the Movie Nutshell...I'll let Doc explain that one).

We're looking to expand upon the Nut-verse.

Not just movies.

Start up some new Nuts all of them different.

We've decided on : Music (of all genres), Video Games, Books (novels, graphic novels, bios, short stories) and TV series (by the season).

Initially we were thinking maybe 4 authors to each blog....but maybe add some more for Video Games & Books seeing as they wouldn't be frequented as much with only 4 authors.

So far the authors who've agreed to write for each blog goes like this:

Movies: Doc, Cuckoo, Bud, Ndi
Music: Doc, Cuckoo
Video Games: Tom, Bud
Books: Tom, Doc
TV Series: Doc, Cuckoo, Bud

Bud suggested perhaps we merge TV series with Movies.........it might work. Nothing's concrete yet.

We're looking for more authors. Anybody interested?

---

on a sidenote: Lye's been added as film and score reviewer on the Nutshell's Father site, "The Cuckoo Clock".

I might add he's the perfect fit.:D i already posted my 1st review starting with the entire bond series.....big surprise there :rofldata:

They made 9 stations?

Those were TV movies. I have one more to do but not ready to watch it yet.

I like how we keep things brief, and I really like your writing style. You're perfect for what I had envisioned.

I think a TV series needs more words, though. It would be unfair to fit a whole season into 100 words.we're gunna need some communication between the movie blogs so i don't review anything y'all already have planned to nut. i already have some non-bond films i watched in the last couple weeks that i wanna review

Creep
Eden Lake
Cars II

was gonna review Pontypool but I see it already got a nut.

are any of those films getting nutted or can i have a go at them?

I find socially awkward people interesting, they almost always have hidden depths. I'm generalising but more often than not it's true.

I'm a little socially awkward around a certain type of person but I'm mostly socially bored. Plus, I'm unable to give the time of day to assholes... you know the type I mean: the ones that are usually at the centre of the room, and at the centre of their own special but hidden neurosis.

I like flaws in my friends to be displayed, not hidden.

Pontypool (already nutted)
Cars 2

all of these except the last are ones i'd wanted to do on my blog before halloween but simply didn't get to. i will do them on cuckoo clock, but seriously, if it's a problem i will avoid the one you guys already did in a nutshell

i also have planned a bond soundtracks series of reviews, discussing the merits of each score as they appear in the films but also their commercial ost album presentations.

not particularly been in a big bond mood lately except the fact that i've seen every film at hundreds of times makes them good for practice. i know the classic connery films by heart to the point that i could review them without even watching first.

I just got the new Tom Waits, I've been listening to it nonstop!

:D It's really good, huh?

I didn't even know he was coming out with anything new until I saw it in the store the other day.
I suppose subscribing to his facebook would have helped.

I could get started on another right now if it's cool to do them fast! I'm sticking only to stuff I've recently been listening to, but I spotted a sort-of theme I could use.
If you have a backlog of stuff, I don't see a problem.

It seems to vary from person to person how they're doing it.

I do have a preference but I won't hold anyone to it............mostly because almost all of us are done anyways. and it wouldn't be fair to start laying down the law on you or docrate.

I really, really like the weekly ones where we just do what we've been listening to. It really brings out the moods in the mixes and gives them that something special. Almost like a musical diary.

Neg, Doc and Bud's perfected those. I could tell so easily what they were feeling from week to week.

I like those ones bestest. :D

The 2nd one reminds me of dear ol' Hugo Reyes.

Shutter Island
Jacob's Ladder

Pontypool
The Collector

are all the ones that really stuck out and fascinated me in the past month or so. I would love to explore them some more.

Grabbing this week's Gokaiger to see the final mech in action, since it uses the Go-Ongers' great power.

It only combines with Galleon and the arms of DaiJyuJin. This really annoys me, because this is the only time Galleon combines with DaiJyuJin and it's just an arm swap. It's supremely annoying because it only combines those 3 mechs. Everyone else is left out. Really makes the other character feel useless as their mechs are only limbs. It's like this in Go-Onger itself, but they are all always needed and the mechs are their own characters.

This is pretty indicative of the merchandising for Gokaiger, as well, given their focus on providing all the Red keys and all the 6ths keys. Very few keys of other colors have been produced.

I could go on for 20 years about how the story is butchered for the sake of tributes (given that it's the 35th Anniversary series), but I'm especially in tune with the politics of mecha and I'm disappointed, severely, by this season, on the whole in this regard.

First one was great.

Don't remember the 2nd one at all...really....AT ALL.

The 3rd one was silly and kinda really bad....but I liked it for some reason.

Third one was the olde thyme one, I think. Second was... I don't remember either.

All of that, yes.

I enjoyed the third one cus the priest was so damned funny
So serious, all - the - time.
:rofldata: *wipes a tear away* silly christians.

IIRC 2 didn't have the hot red head in it so much.
It was mostly about the other girl and the movie didn't pick up so well.
I think most of us weren't impressed with it overall.
3 made up for it.

I applaud anyone who's able to write such in-depth analyses on their favorite subjects. Anything longer than a nut and it begins to feel like a book report for me, and then it reminds me of school, and then it makes me feel like I should be getting paid for such an effort. That's why I'll always be a nut-man for life. :erm:

See, I want to go on and on about everything, so nuts are really a challenge for me. I think most of mine are still too long right now. Hopefully I'll get better at trimming it down.

And I agree, Lye's reviews are absolutely fantastic. I saw his Dr. No review on Facebook yesterday and I was really impressed by it. Quality stuff!

I could go on for 20 years about how the story is butchered for the sake of tributes (given that it's the 35th Anniversary series), but I'm especially in tune with the politics of mecha and I'm disappointed, severely, by this season, on the whole in this regard.

What's frustrating is that it's a constant tribute. If there were little, subtle hints and nods, maybe the occasional guest appearance, I think it'd be much more effective. As is, it always feels like they're trying to do a reunion special for such and such series, and it falls short on that scale and as a stand alone series.

Among toku fans, I know whether or not Decade worked as a series is pretty debatable. But, what they did get right, at least for me, was making Tsukasa such a force of personality. A lot of people may have thought he was a dick, but he never got overshadowed by tributes or guest stars. He was always the focus of the show because he wasn't going to let anyone else take over. There's a little of him in Marvelous, but when you have a larger ensemble cast, I think you need the characterization to be even stronger, and for the most part, it's weaker.

I still love the fight scenes though.

Yeah. :D

Neat little film.

I'm always a little surprised when stuff like Cube, Pontypool or Ginger Snaps are heard of outside of the Canadias.

I figured if it ain't Cronenberg it goes unnoticed.

I guess you're the same when we hear about apparently obscure stuff from The Future.

We should fap on monarchy's pillow.

I love Ginger Snaps so much. <3

My dad made us earn money to pay for our tickets to Jurassic Park. I spent all day pulling weeds and when he finally said I had enough, I was pretty much over the moon. To this day, I am still blown away by it. It's a movie I don't think I'll ever be able to view without nostalgia goggles. No matter how many I watch it, it never loses the feeling I had when I saw those dinosaurs for the first time. It was like nothing else, and no CG will ever be able to measure up.

After the movie was over, my dad admitted he'd trolled us with the weed pulling and gave us the cash we'd earned. I spent it on Jurassic Park cards. It's probably the first thing I obsessively collected- I spent well over a year buying packs every time I had extra money. I wound up getting a complete gold card collection. I kept it in a Jurassic Park binder. It was awesome. I highly recommend the cards, since you're looking for Jurassic Park memorabilia right now!

I usually lop off a paragraph and a sentence or two here and there.

I try to have a one sentence description of the movies' plot. Something about the actors' performance. Then some of the other elements: director, writing, photography, etc. Throw in a couple of zingers or praise to give it a personal touch and I'm done. If don't do this mine just sound like something I could read in a free newspaper on the ground.

Evil.

My dad was a master troll. Even now, I'll think back to something and realizing he'd totally been bullshitting me and I didn't realize it. I think he was one of those people who wanted to have kids so that he could convince them of completely ridiculous things.

Once he told us we were related to Mickey Rooney, and I was super excited (we'd seen something I really liked with Mickey Rooney, I can't remember what now). He told me he'd go get his address book so I could call him. So he brought out the book, and I dialed some number all excitedly only to be hung up on. I tried two more times before he finally admitted the truth. He also had me convinced he had a pet flying squirrel that he kept in his pocket for years.

I like some Eddie Murphy stuff. Probably not anything in at least the last 15 years. Coming to America is great.

I have Ranger Keys of all 3 types, now. DX ones are perfect. No problems, at all. Gashapons are utter shit. The chest stickers come up, and the arms feel gummy. They don't ratchet, they muddle their way through plastic.

Thank christ I didn't actually order any of those. I just got one as a free gift. Candy toys are kinda muddy, too, but from the hinge down they're fine. Thankfully, I only want them to stand next to mecha.

I don't know what VirtualDub is...

 I used to have the T-Rex toy.
He was awesome... I miss him

I still have the triceratops battle damage. Was going to stick it on eBay.

I wanted to try baking doughnuts. I'm not sure I've ever actually had a baked donut. Curious what it'd taste like. I think it'd be fun to make donuts proper but frying things intimidates me
Frying is way easier than baking.

Fuck them. Triceratops is too ingrained. That other shit is a subspecies of Triceratops.

Suck it you anal ass scientists.

Baking is super easy! And I don't own a deep fryer or anything like that.

I wrote a song for Dinobutt about them trying to do away with the brontosaurus. :(

Bryan Brontosaurus

(the underappreciated dinosaur)

(lyrics written by Ndi)

Bryan Brontosaurus
(The Underappreciated Dinosaur)

Thunder Lizard
For whatever it's worth
Doesn't seem to mean much in my corner of the earth
I'm a scientific heresy
We'll call it failure to exist
They won't explain why Apatosaurus
still makes it on the list

(chorus)
My name is Bryan
I am a Brontosaurus
My name is Bryan
I will always be
The underappreciated Brontosaurus

But we found him first
Don't make me laugh
You don't want the world, you just want my half
Everything falls apart
Over one stupid head
Wasn't it good enough that I was already dead?

(chorus)

(bridge)
Call me a error, call me a sham
Just don't think you can explain to me who I am
Change my name to restore your pride
Just don't think you can change who I am on the inside

(chorus)

(chorus and bridge overlap)

I was just ranting about how much I hate Titanus, last night.

Brachiosaurus/Brontosaurus
Pterodactyl/Pteranodon
Mastadon/Mammoth
Buffalo/Bison
Ichigo/Nigo

Who REALLY knows the difference? REALLY.

My esteemed, fellow scientist that chose to classify the Triceratops as not a dinosaur:

I like this one. Self-flagellation can be creepier than monsters and ghosts.
Not enough to keep me awake but still.

People clapped at the end of all 3 TF movies for me.

I recall some clapping at the end of the 3 LOTR films and Red State.

There was always clapping at the films I saw at the VIFF a month ago.

Spooky story!

...but frying things intimidates me.

 In extreme temperatures, you can see all the fryer splatter burns on my arms. It's like I'm spotted or freckled.

Could I review old school Rider stuff in the TV nut blog?

Of course. :)

Doc and I are still working out some stuff with them all. Grabbing Blog title cards......coming up with different types of 'posting formats' and all that stuff.

All the not fun stuff....but once we get them all going it's going to be great. :D

Always something new to read.

Who REALLY knows the difference? REALLY.

:erm: I do.

That program was quick and easy, but it also separated everything into different files, so 1 OGM became an avi with no audio, 2 .ogg tracks for English & Japanese and one file for subtitles. Too good to be true still holds.
I blame them, not you

Al Green and Lonely Shepard in particular. Have a kitty and feel better.

There was always clapping at the films I saw at the VIFF a month ago.
People round here sometimes give the whole shebang with clapping, booing, hissing and riffing. Mostly at those movies that people go out of their way to see. Boondock Saints 2 was one of them. Riffing is tolerated if it's actually funny and appropriate like when we saw D-war and Paranormal Activity. 30 Days of Night was a good target too. Although I remember most wasn't the movie, but a girl group in front of us who cried at the ending. The lead girl yelled at the others for making her cry on her birthday.

I learned I hate Megaupload.
Cheers to that
