Honestly, I'm pretty much past the point of getting depressed about all this stuff and it's just sort of funny now. Things just don't stop! To add to the humor of it all, my HDMI port looks like it was actually physically damaged somehow. I think it was gremlins. Hopefully that won't make for issues with my warranty~

It's also pretty easy not to get too bummed about stuff when my KICKHOPPER FINALLY ARRIVED. Oh guys, he is beautiful. I'm not sure why I've been so bad about taking pictures when I spend so much less time dicking around on the internet, but I will remedy that soon. I know I'm the only person here who's seen Kabuto, but I think everyone can appreciate Skull and the Hell Brothers~

I've seen some killer act during the jazz festival over the years.

The Herbalizer, Supreme Beings Of Leisure, Jurassic 5, Digable Planets, John Zorn.

All sorts of jazz from all over the world.

Just pick up one of the booklets, sit down at one of the free shows and flip through it. Make up a game plan from there.

The free shows are always great too.

SOme of the best ones I've seen are in Gastown or Granville Island.

Love Magneto. Love Cassandra Nova (though not as much as Magneto). Most other X-Men villains I really like tend to go back and forth from good to evil or are more anti-hero type characters. I know some people see Magneto as an anti-hero, but it's not a character interpretation I really agree with.

One thing I've noticed about X-Men villains is that I tend to prefer stories where a villain mostly acts alone as opposed to villain team-up stories. There've been good Hellfire Club stories, but Magneto is so much better minus the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants stuff. I think this is also because the sheer number of X-Men is so high, even post House of M, that you have to have a crazy plan in place to attack them without an army of other villains at your disposal, and those plans are pretty fun to read about.

I'm not going to defend the second half as a whole, but there's some truly great Zanki stuff there to look forward to, no matter how you feel about everything else. I really wish the creator had had a chance to see his vision through, but that arc is still among my favorite moments in the whole series.

Right now Zanki is riding his own backwards time-paradox coattails. Outside of the introduction of the guitar oni, it's like HEY, KENJI, WAKE THE FUCK UP. TRY TO DO SOMETHING INTERESTING.

i go back and forth on magneto. sometimes i think he's awesome, other times i hate him. i do feel like he's a bit overrated but at least he's written well (most of the time). i like cassandra nova too. i completely agree with the villains switching sides. in fact, most of the villains i think of have at one point, been good and even been on an x-team! most of the villains i think of that haven't are actually the humans. kinda funny.

Opel is my favourite of his solo releases and it's probably the least accessible, certainly the least musical.

OOO' soundtrack in general is pretty later-wave ska based. I rather like it, which is a reason why the show disappoints me as much as it does. It can't really live up to the awesomeness of the songs :(
