The rest were all "meh" in my books.

Just watched Let the Right One In tonight and it's everything that Twilight is but, you know actually great.
That one scene with them in the bed is infinitely more emotional and sexy and sad than anything Twilight did.

3 things though...
1. Why's it called "Let the Right One In"? I'd have thought with a name like that it would have been about the 2 children, 1 vampire and 1 not but the other characters and you the viewer don't know which and you had to decide which on is the right one to let inside.

2. That quick crotch shot of Eli, was her vagina sewn shut or was that just a pubic hair qawinkydink?

3. I didn't know this was a foreign film so I watched the english dub. And while the voice work isn't horrible it's pretty cheesey sometimes with the group of older tavern guys.

I saw the remake and it was completely faithful to the subject matter and tonality of the original, but it was ultimately marred in my eyes by horrendously bad "vampire" effects. At least they got the swimming pool scene right, though. Which begs the question...why bother to remake the film if it's EXACTLY THE SAME in every other way?

Anyway, I always thought the name was a play on words. On one hand, it's about letting the right one into your heart (i.e. unconditionally) and of course the fact that a vampire can only come inside if invited. The American title is a bit more demanding though, "Let Me In." Also, I was disappointed they omitted an important moment in the remake when the boy sees the "girl's" genitalia; in the original, you can see there is no genitalia, only a scar, suggesting that the vampire is actually a castrated male which makes the relationship a little more weird and line-blurring. Obviously, it was no surprise that they would ignore this detail in the American version... :rolleyes:

I hated the Hills remake, but not more than I hated the Texas Chainsaw remake. Remakes in my opinion are just a waste of time. If they got it right the first time, just leave it alone.

That's horrible! To spend lifetimes as a child but also mutilated like that. I wonder.. if Eli lives for 200 more years would vampire plastic surgery have progressed enough for her to be fixed, or unfixed in this case? What I hate about the feathering of dinos is they always make them look like drag queens. Gay drag queens. There's no thought put into the coloring or patterns just feathers everywhere. Form fallows function so shouldn't most of these feathered dinos look ,more like eagles, ravens, crows, falcons, & vultures and not peacocks and turkeys? Birds of prey have there head covered in feathers but they also have beaks, dinosaurs don't have beaks so for the meat-a-sauruses I'd think biologically the face & hands should be bare so the feathers won't be drenched in blood that could have the grip slippery and add to the smell of the beast. Now ostriches aren't very aerodynamic but they're weird and have no tails, raptors have tails and most likely used them in the same way as big cats. While we're on big cat they sure are colorful but are also fairly well camo'd and I'd think that while T-rex really can't sneak up on anything smaller dinos can and would want some stealth. And what's up with these few shows that have given dinosaurs snoods and waddles? We just got rid of the frills and shit from the lizards now they're back because of the bird connection?

Secondly, I present Christophe Beck's fantastic score from the Emmy Nominated 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' classic episode, "Hush".

While it was presented in suite form on the "Once More With Feeling" soundtrack, I dissected it and put it back together, editing in extra cues from the official score album throughout the original presentation, adding an extra seven minutes to the original suite.

While Beck was nominated for an Emmy for Season Two's "Becoming Part 1" episode, I firmly believe he should have gained recognition for this episode. He was given the task of writing an extended score for an episode that had next to no dialogue, putting his music at the forefront......and he wrote, quite possibly, some of the best television score in a long, long time.

I don't want you to not be able to participate if you really want to, but there are going to be large spoilers in all 3 of the upcoming rumbles.

Well, the anticipation for the Scream Awards was bigger and more hyped up than the actual event. I was kind of disappointed how all the interesting parts were rushed by and nearly all the things I voted for (save for two) didn't win, instead favoring the fucking trendy vampiric shit of True Blood and Twilight. What a letdown. Even the "Lost reunion" lasted about two seconds and was overshadowed by everything else. I liked the sincerity of the Back to the Future segment, but again it seemed like MJF was in all too much in a hurry to get offstage (understandably, of course). The best part was probably the Bill Murray "cameo" and speech, but aside from that, there was nothing much that did it for me.

Saw the remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre yesterday. Are all the evil country folk movies the same? Both this and Hills Have Eyes has a big fat person, a wheel chair person, a little kid who isn't evil and helps the main character, and they're all cannabis.

Leatherface isn't all that threatening I found. Maybe it's from easily killing about 6 of him in Resident Evil 4 but he wasn't all that tough compared to other monster guys and his body count was way low I mean he only killed 2 people on screen with the chainsaw.

High School of the Dead is a 12 episode anime about main boy, main boy's x girl friend, x girlfriend's new boy friend, fat army nerd, bossy glasses lady, dumb blonde, sord girl, & later little girl and mascot dog.

I'm unsure what the hell they wanted from this show. 1st off they break a bunch of genre rules, the girls with the biggest boobs are the ones that live (not that I'm complaining) even the dumb blonde! with the exception of the x girl friend's new boy friend everyone of the main cast lives. Fan service everyware! The girls fondle each other int he bath, dumb blonde walks around naked for a while, panty shot oh the panty shots, and much random breast bouncing for no reason what so ever. But here's the deal, it's all censored and not just japanese we can't show pussies censored I mean no nips hardly any butts and the violence is very subdued. People get pulled off camera when they get eaten, very little severed body parts once sword girl upgrades her wooden sword for a real one, we don't see the damage clubing does because the zombies are knocked out of frame. And with only 12 episodes not much character development is present. SO it's a mindless horror guilty pleasure but without any of the real good stuff you'd expect. Not bad and there are some good things about it but not all that high a priority.

Characters dressed as a maid or secretary etc. I'd consider that fan service. I didn't mean Witchblade style.

Queen and Elizabeth I haven't seen much of.
They were at the Xmas party and have been at the cafe a few times but I don't recall them playing a major part.

I also forgot some thing about HSotD Sword girl was my favorite, she was efficient in zombie fighting, sometimes just punching them or tripping them and was cool and mater-o-factly in dire straits.She also got the most character growth in that after chocking in fighting kid zombies she reveals that when she was young she was attacked by a mugger and she almost killed him. Thing is she took pleasure in this and turns out has been ever so slowly creeping to the edge now that she doesn't need to hold back and can kill as many people as she wants. Main boy accepts her anyway and give the usual hero promise and the episode ends with her wielding a real sword for the first time and yelling "I'm Getting Wet!" at the end in a still frame with Phoenix Right style batman captions across the screeen.

Every series I can think of passes it, anyway! I don't think Bechdel is the end all be all or anything, and lots of stuff I like fails it, but I do think it's neat that they do a good job with the females on the show and that they're not just played as love interests/sex appeal.

The setting was very modern Lynch (Lost Highway being the most obviously influenced by this)......could be because it appeared to filmed in the Hollywood Hills.

I liked the music.....it sounded like something John Zorn and Yamantaka Eye would have collaborated on.
