I just taught myself over the years. For Peewee, I just banged things out on the piano. I knew how to write music but not read it - or at least I can only read it as fast as I can write it, which is not very fast. My musical training came from seven years of being in [the rock band] Mystical Knights of Oingo Boingo. Everyone had to play three instruments. I played trombone and guitar and everyone played percussion. We had this crazy ensemble with a homemade percussion ensemble. We built our own gamelan in the style of Lou Harrison. We were interested in jazz and I started transcribing Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington and others. There was no way to create the arrangements other than to write it all out, so I kind of learned by rote. As time went on, the band shifted towards musicians who could read. I got to the point where I could write but I couldn't read. I could only read as quickly as I could write. It's like someone who can write the letters of the alphabet but can't read the words. I learned to write as I learned to read. But I did learn that I had a really good ear and I could freeze anything I heard and write it down.

Transcoding it once is okay.
For compatibility reasons.

I've yet to see any reports or studies on the exact doings of transcoding lossy to lossy.
The most I hear is doing a bit-by-bit comparison.

Graphs or anything seem to be non-existent.

Can you also put in the original .ogg as well??
my comp and media players can handle it.

OGG is from Vorbis.
It uses Direct Show Filters (DSF).
Meaning, once you install it, it installs to the system directory so it's universal for the whole computer.
Most and every media player uses DS Filters.
So if you have Vorbis filters installed, any and every player should be able to play it properly.

Use ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download) to burn the VIDEO_TS folder to disc.
(Make sure it's shrunk to fit a regular dvd first)

Default settings should be good.


"Write Files/Folders to Disc" (top right)


On the left: hit the little "chart" button under where it says "Test Mode" (it's the one furthest to the left) (Tool tip should say "advanced" or something.)
On the right: Hit the "Auto" button, beside the calculator.

Now it's easier to look for filles/folders in this advanced mode.


Go to the "Device" tab at the top and set your writing speed to something you like. The slower the better.
Once you put in a disc, it'll show you information about the qualified/preferred write speeds for that disc.
4x is usually the lowest you can go. The most secure speed. Less errors.
6X is sketchy, most discs aren't tested on 6x.
8x is okay if you're in a hurry. Manufacturer tested.
anything above 8x and you're looking at 68.973450324967230976% of making yourself a coaster for Sup.

Click on the layout editor on the left and you can navigate your computer like you normally would.


Select your folder "VIDEO_TS" and hit the "Add Selected" with the green +.
Close that and it'll show up with the settings done automatically for you.

Go to the "Label", name your disc then burn it to disc.
Turn off "Verify" if you don't want it to verify it burned properly.
I usually skip that part.

All done.

I believe that would be the best possible solution.


ImgBurn is free and Win7 friendly.

I just discovered: if your music folder is really huge and you hit the first letter on the keyboard of the folder you're looking for, the selection goes directly there.

Keep hitting it to move onto the next folder etc. Helps to find the one you want a little bit quicker. :smrt:

I just discovered: if your music folder is really huge and you hit the first letter on the keyboard of the folder you're looking for, the selection goes directly there.

Keep hitting it to move onto the next folder etc. Helps to find the one you want a little bit quicker. :smrt:
