I've been waiting for it since it was announced a game was in production years.....i've been ignoring the reviews, just to get into the game with nothing spoiled for me. So I guess what I'm asking for is a simple "Good" or "Bad"...or perhaps a I'd cross my streams for it :naughty:

It's, um...well, it's mixed. I'll tell you what, it's good for a round of late night playing until 3am! You can skip down to my Short Answer below if you don't want to read my semi-review...

Of course, being a child of the '80s, I'm a HUGE fan of the Ghostbusters series...and I think it's uber-awesome that all the original cast came back to do the game...it has that same '80s feel...the same great music...and you get to satisfy that urge that every adult male has to "bust ghosts".

Gameplay? Well, yes, kinda repetitive. I hate using the PKE meter (especially when ghosts are coming right at you) and gameplay is a little choppier than I'd prefer at times. But still...this is the Ghostbusters franchise, and if you like the movies, you'll like the game. Same great humor, same loveable cast, and I can't get enough of that theme song.

And let's face it, it's way better than the NES game. :loldata:

The worst part about it to me are the graphics. Too caricaturized for my taste. Dan Aykroyd doesn't look anything like Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray has a red nose for some inexplicable reason.

Sorry if I went a little too "in-depth" for you...honestly, I would recommend a good rental at your local video store rather than shelling out 50 clams for the game...

360.....i could never get into the whole Wii thing....the nunchuk is fun for some games and not fun for others for me.......i found the nunchuk to be great for throwaway games like sports games and stuff like that.....but for Resident Evil and others, it was too awkward for me to master and i gave up.........it's probably pretty easy once you get the hang of it, but my patience for that kind of stuff is short, so I'll just stick to the basic controller.

But as a general rule, if the Force is your left hand (swing it down and send baddies flying) and the Saber is your right hand (basically control it like a real sword), you'll do well.

i big difference.....but The Polar Express didn't do so well when it first came out....it wasn't until they let people sit on it for a year, then released it the next X-mas for Imax then it started to make it's money back.....people don't like it.

This is the "make it or break it" movie for 2d animation: if it does not do well it will be a very long time before Disney will even try to do 2d again. It should be very good, John Lassetter is heading up the animation unit on it and from the previews so far the animation is really beautiful.

I hate how the Star Wars saga is supposed to be this "seamless" thing, yet an obviously limber and fake CGI Yoda degrades into a much more "human" puppet...it just doesn't work for me. I'm suspending belief where I should just be sitting back and having fun.

It's kind of ironic that the best CGI movie was also one of the first...Jurassic Park. That movie sold it for me. It was every other movie thereafter that made me doubt it...

Actually yer wrong: Lassetter and Pixar themselves seriously badly want to branch out and do more than CGI: they want to do both 2d and stop motion, but Disney won't sign off until they prove that they can make money at it. Lassetter actually bought MANY of the old animation desks from when the Florida studio closed down in anticipation of doing 2d.

I think the latest trend in movies (both animated and live-action) as of late is the whole 3-D craze...yes, never mind that it's been around since the '50s...this new Digital 3D thing is everywhere. How many movies this year have been in 3D so far? It's crazy, man...anything for a quick buck.

But wow, to bring back stop-motion animation? That would be great. Even stylistic stuff like the recent Corpse Bride and Coraline, while not pure stop-motion, have been a pleasant sight for sore eyes...

P.S. I should have clarified...I think "The Princess and the Frog" will be the last HAND-DRAWN 2D animated movie ever made...in the style of Walt Disney classic animation.

Coraline was done here around where I live and it is about 95% pure stop motion in fact many of the sets were real and HUGE I mean they took up entire rooms... the main one with the house on the hill took up the size of a large living room at least if not more than that. Almost everything in that movie is astonishingly real down to the tiny bits of pink popcorn they used on the trees for the flowers. Even Coraline's outfits were real the sweaters were tiny hand knitted things made by a lady who specializes in that. The only real computer stuff in there was to hide seams on faces and some parts of the puppets. It truly is an amazing accomplishment.

Lassetter is a HUGE fan of traditional Disney stuff, and I really trust him to do things right if he is given the reigns. I think personally we are in for another golden age of hand drawn animation, and other studios will start scrambling to find ways to do both hand drawn and CGI. The audience is there (just look at all the anime fans) it just needs to be tapped properly.

I hope you're right. I know most kids these days (the ones who grew up with Toy Story and such) probably will have a hard time regressing and going back to the classic beautiful handdrawn animated stuff. For them it's always about "bigger" and "better," which tends to mean CGI and 3D... :-\
