Kouhei Kumai (Otoya) posted a really nice statement on his blog. He's fine. Keisuke Kato (Nago) is stuck in a safe place and can't get home, but he's fine. Decade boys are all fine. Minehiro Kinomoto (Terui) is fine. Akiko is fine too!

Checking more, I'll edit this as I see stuff!

Also made "I'm okay" statements:

Queen and Elizabeth from W
Asumu from Hibiki
Mari, Kiba, Yuka and Delta from 555 (Yuka isn't in Japan right now)
Chalice, Kenzaki, and Amane from Blade
Tendou, Kagami, and Daisuke from Kabuto. Update: Kickhopper and Misaki are okay too.
Kotoha, Ryunosuke and Chiaki from Shinkenger
Naomi from Den-O
Hana from Den-O
Odai Ryohei from Ryuki
Eri and Agri from Goseiger (don't have blogs bookmarked for the cast yet so I couldn't check for most of them)

That's everyone in my bookmarks! Lots of actors don't have active blogs, though.

Over Time never released another version of A to Z either. Guess they figured people who wanted it in avi would be willing to wait for TV Nihon. Excited for you to see it though, Doc, it's a good movie.

Why aren't there sex toys of stuff like that that makes sense? You know like fertility idols and sex goddesses and stuff.

I think I thought about this too much. :-P It's a very very good point. Masturbation is a solo practice (mostly) and therefore fertilisation isn't the desired outcome but if you think on the act as a kind of sympathetic magic what Tom suggests is amazingly profound.

:erm:

Is there 1 definitive version of the Monkey King story? Like what's the book I should read of it?

Yes, Journey to the West by Wu Cheng'en. It was published during the Ming Dynasty iirc.

30 and 20 minutes isn't a movie, it's an episode.

Memory is something I find really interesting because everyone remembers the same event differently. Subjectivity is weird.
Chris Marker explored it a lot in his films (Twelve Monkeys was based on one his shorts).

He said: "I will have spent my life trying to understand the function of remembering, which is not the opposite of forgetting."

I can remember being a small kid and not understanding how it was possible to forget something, since if you remembered something one day, you couldn't just forget it on the next one. All of that is still pretty strange!

II's intro is confusing as FUCK, even if you played Chain of Memories (which I did). I just didn't like that they went the This person is really this person and this person is this person's Nobody angle.

Just feels like lazy, confusing writing, to me.

The first one was perfectly fine. Thought they built shit around Sora pretty well. II started in with the Nobody shit and you just played out the stories for the Disney characters as they happened in the movies.

I've heard that's Disney's fault for handcuffing Squeenix in terms of writing new content for its characters, but still.

You need to help others and to be thought of as a generous and kind individual. Often you are taken advantage of and regarded as simply part of the scenery. You work best when handling the work yourself; you do not appreciate a managerial role and tend to be uncomfortable in that position. Friendship is important to you, but it is generated on a personal basis, rarely a professional one. Consequently, family life is very important to you, and is often the most important aspect. Because of a strong sense of propriety however, you will sometimes consider the eccentric behavior of your friends and family as a personal affront. Often you find it difficult to speak up about personal anguish or pain, feeling instead that it is something an individual should bear in silence. Tradition is important to you, and you feel a sense of belonging when operating within the constraints of a predictable routine.

You could pass the exact same thing to 10 different people and they'd all try and find a way to agree with it because they 'want' to be or think a certain way.

Nah, mine was really completely off in every way the first time, and absolutely dead-on the second time. Yours is kind of hit and miss, parts apply and others are very wrong.

I wonder if the response you get at the end is random. I didn't change too many answers the second time, I don't think. I'd love to see all the different responses and if any others fit me.

cuckoo77
03-14-2011, 04:56 AM
i'm wondering if it actually does base it on your answers.

my first one said something along the lines of 'my mind changes often and my opinions never stay the same."......perhaps that had an effect on my answers the second time.

Few random responses:

You have a poetic sensibility and an ability to see beyond the day to day. You often seem to be living in a higher realm, or to be not-of-this-earth. Occasionally you imagine interior lives for friends and associates that are near-complete fabrications based on your fears or hopes for the future. You are often not aware of your own feelings. You have a strong sense of right and wrong, and because of this are often disappointed. Despite what can sometimes be a destructive inward-turning anger, you are very gentle. You are sometimes a bit out of touch with the ebb and flow of modern life. If your behavior is out of synch with your moral values, a severe psychic disturbance can result. Because connectivity is so important to you, you can become quiet and sulky if you feel that others around do not understand your point of view.

Handy in the real world manipulation of objects and events, you are easily enthused by practical projects. You often ignore or conveniently forget rules and boundaries that limit your freedom. This need for freedom extends even to the personal sphere and though you are kind and gentle, you will often be hard to pin down to a monogamous lifestyle. Because you tend to verbalize so seldom, you can be seen as phlegmatic or impassive. In moments of high tension you can often surprise those around you with a lighthearted or humorous remark. Because of your facility with the physical world, you are often engaged in sports that require dexterity, such as motorcycling or hang gliding. You will rarely have time for flights of fancy or unproductive discussion. Constraints on your freedom will be regarded as a personal attack.

Thoughtful to the extreme, you are often obsessed with perfection and the rules governing your own personal interests. Your world is black and white. You love to work within a logical system, such as language, computer programming, or mathematics. Manipulating a system that can be completely understood is a distinct pleasure to you, because of your confidence in the underlying veracity of your belief system. Because of your appreciation for logic and order, those who speak or think in a sloppy manner are apt to generate more than their share of wrath. Although very amiable, you are not drawn to friendships out of a sense of personal need. You are just as happy by yourself with a good book or puzzle. Because you are so involved with thought, you will on occasion have difficulty dealing with the day-to-day problems of a normal life. Taking out the trash, doing the dishes, these are often left until the last possible moment, if at all.

This is what it said about me:

You reach out to the world and pull in experiences of all forms and kinds. Spontaneous, immediate and active, you have a natural tendency to win, whether this is in the business world or on the freeway. In the right context this can be a positive encouragement to those around you. In the wrong context it can lead to a pathetic display of ego and misplaced pride. You are always on the prowl for clues as to how to win. Usually this behavior is unconscious or playful but the sense of play can rapidly disappear if you are found to be losing in the aforementioned contest. Only those who dont compete are met with derision. You love to be the center of attention. The moment at hand is always of prime concern. Worries about the future or the past, or abstract discussions of philosophical matters are something for others to concern themselves with. Emotions are fleeting and often used as tactics.

That don't sound right at all.

You'll maybe have really vivid dreams being so tired. Or maybe that's just me? I do all-nighters all too frequently and I have really bizarre and vivid dreams when I do eventually fall over.

Sometimes when I'm really tired I wake up again over and over, or at least I think I do. Might just be dreaming. I hallucinate then sometimes (or have realistic dreams) and it's all really weird. Think visual and auditory hallucinations are par for the course if you go long enough about sleep, though. I'll let you guys know what I dream about!

 it's like a STS coffee table book.

must have.

Bet we could write the sequel~

One of the comments is great.

I own an extensive collection of pornographical books and videos and I am proud to say it is the only genre I read. Despite what the title says about the book being loaded with images that you shouldn't masturbate to, I bought it anyways to see how the rest of the world lives through reading a single page without the aide of some good old self love. Much to my surprise, I found that this book is actually one of the kinkiest collections of pornography I have ever laid eyes on. Just look at that man on the cover for example. One of my (many) fetishes happens to be naked old men chopping through ice with axes. Imagine my surprise when I saw that the cover of this very book caters to this specific taste. Thank you so much to authors Johnson and Hibbert for this amazing book.

I do weird shit like that on day two as well. I think the brain needs to do something that isn't routine to stay awake.

I occasionally write stuff which turns out to be mostly gibberish but there is always something totally unexpected that I can use, something that I'm sure I never would have done had I been sleeping normal.

I'll cross my fingers for you that you don't dream of axe wielding naked men in ice holes. Unless you want to, of course.

It makes me wonder how many of the pictures in that book has been in STS.

I hope this is my local bookstore. I might go seek it out tonight :)

I think it's just habit from my old timey routines back in the day.

I write some of my scariest stuff when I haven't been sleeping. Last night, I freaked the hell outta myself by jotting something down. It's fun. :) I just wish I could find places to use some of this stuff. :(

I thought of a really weird little story last night, not sure if I'll write it or not. Sort of a Groundhog's Day thing where someone tries to commit suicide, but wakes up again the next day and nothing happens. Really little small things seem off about the world, like people missing habits like playing with their hair, or things not being exactly where they remembered them. They'll try to kill themselves more times and I have two different ideas about where to take it from there. Either the world will get more and more off each time, or it'll continually be small differences and they'll start trying to track the differences and to test to see if there's anything that will change them coming back like normal. In this version they'll start tracking names of people who've recently died and seeing if any of them are dead when they wake up again.

Explaining it badly but I really just have that unstructured lump of ideas right now!

There's so many interesting details and possibilities you can work into that idea. :D

Is that how you write? All the ideas in your head first then you start jotting it all down?

I do the same but I know some people just sit down and start going at it.

If they changed the world enough times eventually it could become a quirky happy place for them to reside in. Then they'd not need to top themselves any more.

I just found a box of Peanut Brittle I got 3 or 4 years ago.

How does this stuff preserve? Is it safe to eat or will it eat me from my the inside out.

Yup! I usually get some small seed of an idea and just write down notes until I have a good idea of how I want the story to go. I'm usually really unhappy with my writing if I don't do this first. I think not knowing where I'm going with something changes my writing style.

I definitely thought that as the story progressed it would become more about curiosity and experimentation then about actually wanting to die. Would be neat to start it from a really dark place and take it to a happy ending.

We do need a new "writing" thread.

Based off of Ndi's idea, it got me thinking.

What she told us was just scratching the surface of what she probably has planned for it. Doc, you all ready started brainstorming as to what you'd do with it with the world becoming a better place. My first thoughts were to set it during Christmas time somewhere during the late 1800's). ......but to the point........what if we come up with one single, simple idea and all try to come with a short story based off that idea and see what we all come up with.

???

That's how Frankenstein came to be.

That's a fantastic idea. I'm in. A word limit is maybe a good idea. Not an exact one but a guideline.
