Be here at 8pm sharp, bring some edible undies and a bottle of JD and we'll giggle n' wiggle throughout the wee hours of the night.

Doc says that all the time.
I'm predicting that they'll get offered a deal where everyone can return on the condition that Troy joins the air conditioning repair program. No theories past that, though. I couldn't be sad at the end because of all of the Remedial Chaos Theory references. I love that episode so much. <3
That sounds about right.
...plus gives more screentime to John Goodman and a purpose to casting someone like him . :D

Really want to work on a project of mine, but I pitched it to someone else, and if they accept it I won't be able to use any work I do.
Not sure if I should start up a new project, work on this one anyway, or try to do something with one of my bajillion unfinished/unused projects. I like projects too much.
Kind of want to try plotting a horror trilogy right now, because I've never properly plotted a trilogy and I feel like writing spooky stuff.

Trilogies are a task and a half and then some.
I sort of worked one out.
The first and third parts are great. The second part has character development but no real plot yet.
I mean to work on that.
I've been meaning to do it for a few years now.
I find I keep coming up brand new neat little things to tweak or add every now and then.

Second parts are usually my favorite part of trilogies! It probably is because it's where a lot of the best character stuff goes.
Working on projects for a really long time is the best. :D Well, I guess finishing them and being really happy with them would be the best, but I just like combining the way I used to think with the way I think now. Like co-writing, but easier.
What genre is your trilogy? I imagine you writing blackly comedic sci-fi but that is probably totally wrong.

They're usually my favorite part too.
Quite often the darkest too.
I like the idea of skipping several years between installments. It really gives you a chance to change the characters in sometimes extreme ways and add nerdy back stories that are never told in the actual story but mentioned in passing (if you know what I mean). Star Wars is notorious for that.

I find it's easier with some characters the older you get. You start catching up to their ages and begin thinking like them more. Makes it difficult to write for younger characters but a fascinating challenge.
What genre is your trilogy? I imagine you writing blackly comedic sci-fi but that is probably totally wrong.
Sci-fi with comedic elements. Not really dark or anything. I suppose it does go to dark places but leans closer to bizarre The Fifth Element / Heavy Metal type of sci-fi.

Friday - popped in Dragon Quest 8........ lost complete track of time......... watched Cartoon Planet...... played more DQ8.....
Saturday - ate waffles, spent the afternoon with my bf, went to the bookstore and FINALLY found a copy of Avatar TLA The Promise book one
:hoppy guy: *imgurs crappin it's pants at the moment*
We went to watch Avengers Saturday night. It was the first time ever that we had to stand in line just to get into the auditorium. And the first time ever that the manager walked in to welcome everyone and announce it was a sold out show. He was a very nice person and asked us all to be nice and quiet.... I complied out of respect for him~
After the movie we went to get a pizza to bring back. Got in line, but the young girl who worked there was paying more attention to her little whore friends instead of taking my order. Finally placed our order, waited 20 minutes, got our pizza, wrong damn pizza. Little ditz got our order wrong and overcharged me for the wrong pizza. The manager helped us out and gave me back the $5 the ditz overcharged me. He had this look on his face like it wasn't the first time that day the ditz got something wrong  Waited for our pizza, the ditz cleaned the floor (underaged ditz with shorts too short and her chunky little ass hanging out) Got our pizza, the manager got it right and he threw in free bread sticks.

Truth be told, Cthulhu isn't supposed to be seen. According to the "Cthulhu Mythos" (or Lovecraft-fanboy lore), Cthulhu is said to be lying sleeping in R'lyeh under the sea. In other words, the big monstruous poulp is taking a nap, and his followers and servants are those you should be afraid of. Most prominent category of said servants are the Deep ones and their hybrids, leaving in various port towns around the world, with an important outpost in the 1920s in Innsmouth, Massachussetts. THey worship their Elders, Father Dagon and Mother Hydra. Then there are other great old ones, like Ithaca, Iod, Nyothga, and so on, who have been imprisonned on earth with Cthulhu.
And then, there's Nyarlathotep, the dark messenger, the crawling chaos, who is not a great old one, not an outside god, not an elder god. he's in his own league.
The only case cthulhu might be seen is: A/ when he wakes up and reclaims earth; B/ in your dreams, especially if you're an artist or a scientist or a deep one hybrid who doesn't know of his heritage.
What's too bad is that most films based on Lovecrafts book focus on Cthulhu while there are so many gods and creatures worthy of a film...Nyarlathotep, for one, but also Iod, Cthugha, the Hounds of Tindalos, Yog Sothoth, the Elder things, the Dreamlands (Lovecraft's best idea EVER. Making a tv show set in the Dreamlands would make a shitload of money to whoever pulled it right.)...I've wondered why no one ever thought of making a TV show (a one like Poltergeist the Legacy for exemple) with the Cthulhu Mythos as a source material for the show's mythology.

I guess a bollywood actor, a bunch of journalists and an informatician know perfectly what it is to live in the indian slums. A friend of mine went there, a few years ago. it may not be as bad as it is shown in the movie (and what is in the movie ain't that horrible), but she did see the slums, and people living in extreme poverty. without a shit being given about them by the richer people of the town.
In other news, saw Avengers today. great film, funny one liners, special mention to Mark Ruffalo, who's the best Hulk i've seen so far.

My god. Guillermo del Toro or Peter Jackson should helm the Mythos. And really delve into it.
Most adaptations I've seen are really just linear stories of a singular entity.
There needs to be an in-depth coverage.
I think a TV series would do well, given the right people behind it.
Actually, a TV series would be awesome, a long build up to a motion picture feature creature~

No CM.
I had a dream of a tall, lanky, winged serpent rising from the sea once. It was a long time ago. Before I really ever watched anything Lovecraftian. I vaguely remember watching In the Mouth of Madness and Necronomicon as a kid. But not enough to put that image in my head. Maybe Necro, not so much.
It was vivid. Dark. And absolutely monstrous. It bellowed over the small village near the sea. I think it was going away from the village and back to the ocean to its slumber, ala Godzilla. Except more of a shadow than a solid, clear image.
I was terrified.
I watched Hellboy later and got that Lovecraft nostalgia~
The tentacles in the sky reminded me of another dream I barely remember. It was practically the same thing.
Before I ever saw the movie. Or this picture of the creature in the ocean...
There weren't so many tentacles. It was tall and sharply. Silent, save its bellowing.

Beauty and the Beast is not something to do. They already did the cartoon, and in 3D... :eye:
Forget the cartoon....and feck 3D.
A Del Toro styled take on that tale would be wonderful, granted he doesn't make it for kids and aims it at the Pan's Labyrinth type audience.
I think IT is done. You look at Tim Curry and all you think of is laughing at balloons filled with blood popping all over the place.
It's just done.
The TV movie sucked. Tim Curry and the kids were the only reason to watch it.
The rest of it was too hokey.
The book was wonderful and needs the proper treatment.

:erm: Why don't I have much of Lovecraft's work? :erm:
I only have the Necronomicon and the Necronomicon Spell-Book.
I don't know haw Lovecraft tales are available in the US or in Canada, but the other day I found a real nice edition while on Doc Island. here (
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Necronomicon-Weird-Lovecraft-Fiction-GOLLANCZ/dp/0575081562/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1336435546&sr=8-1)
All the best short stories by Lovecraft. essential readings in my opinion. I'd also add the dreamland novels of Brian Lumley (not lovecraft, but the man wrote some good books set in Lovecraft's Dreamlands), particularly Hero of Dreams, Ship of Dreams and Mad moon of Dreams. Also, you might consider Chaosiums omnibuses, some are very good. most notable are "The Book of Iod" and "The Nyarlathotep Cycle".
And additionnally, you can easily find most of his works on Wikisource, as they are in the public domain now. at least I think they are.

  God wills it~
Umm.... some quote from Gandalf the Grey. Either in Minas Tirith reading the archives to himself, or in the Mines of Moria muttering to himself.
:smrt:
Ahhh...THe Lokdru Jahad. good times. best evocation of a Lovecraftian entity I've seen in a movie to date. THe fun fact about Lovecraft is that he never really describes his creatures. probably why they are so hard to adapt for the big screen. but...As for your dream...there's a shitload of possible explanation. Lots of cartoons feature sea monsters. same for TV shows. Hercule, Xena, the Gummi Bears all featured Winged sea serpents. or the sea serpent could be something your mind made up to represent something else.

We had a lot of different editions of Lovecraft here. nearly EVERY publisher who deals in Science Fiction has edited Lovecraft. results, it's a mess, and I've got some short stories in three different omnibuses. So I made a crazy move recently and bought the best french edition there is, a big set of 3 books, 1200 pages each. lots and lots of material, including his essay (Supernatural horror in Literature), the "Book of reason" (lovecraft's ideas for story he never wrote), and lots of other stuff. But the book I linked on Amazon is really beautiful. If the company who published that complete HPL set in french had used the illustrations and the same kind of cover, it would have been awesome in a way the universe isn't ready for.
