On a side note, got a temp computer and had to fix everything.
So many security flaws in it. The software was utter crap. It wasn't even partitioned, motherofgod.
And, apparently, the previous owner is a "computer professional"... :rolleyes:

I just took a shit on it and then emailed a pic to the previous owner and captioned it: "if this was your child, nothing would've changed. the end."

So I uninstalled everything, put in good stuff, tweaked the hell out of it, partitioned, defragged and now it's one of 5 computers I worked on that are now in the "Jesus" status. (as in... "Jesus, this thing is a lot faster than before. And more [stable]! (sic)")

I've also been tracking a lot of software lately, it seems all the good ones have been going through multiple updates and bug fixes. :awsm:

Still trying to learn to compile from source so I can go back to open-source programs and improve them with updated plugins and whatnot.
Also trying to learn some reverse engineering too for the simpler programs that could use updates.

And I've gotten into a little more 3D playing and continue to search for the ultimate 3D thrill at home.
And as of the experiment with 2 cameras horribly failing, I am now looking into stuff to tweak my webcam so I can get rid of the green Matrix-y (Neg's Bat-Symbol-spotlight) color tone.

And then playing around with some custom lighting too... I got a desk lamp and a horrible flashlight from the dollar store.

I subscribed to thread so I have some reading material :smrt: :erm: :laugh: should've known better than to make it weekly subscriptions :ashine:

Miss you all, and still think of you guys where it's most inappropriate timing (like a true STS-er).

If I master the custom 3D video, I'll surely upload and post here first.
Using youtube's shifty 3D uploading... (let's you choose your own 3D format... anaglyph, interlaced, side-by-side, over-under, etc)
(side-by-side is good for the "cross-eyed" method. But needs lots of practice for motion video)

Back soon. Just organizing and defragging right now...
And working on getting final Volume up.

Well at the risk of sounding like an ass, I hate a lot of anime and manga, but they wrote the story to be very sensitive and dramatic. Its not even about sex to be honest, but about showing how each character copes with their problems. I was one of the harshest critics of it when I first heard about it, but its a refreshing change of pace from my usual heartless violence I love in games. Havent really cared about what happens to the characters in a game this much since Heavy Rain.


On a diffrent note, I couldnt bear to...well...you know jerk it to the thing. It was too heartwarming for the most part.

I am a huge fan of the genre, but am extremely limited in what I can play until my Japanese gets better.

Letting people turn sex scenes off is a smart move. I've tried to play games with them but they always feel so weird and like such a break in the story. Many of the big visual novel companies only include them because that's what sells. I'm sure there are stories that they feel natural in, I've just never tried playing them. I really want to play Kara no Shoujo but man is that stuff distracting.

Based on what you like about this, I'd recommend Key's games (Kanon, Air, and Clannad, anyway, don't think any others are in English yet), and Narcissu (http://narcissu.insani.org/).

My favorite visual novel of all time is Ever 17 (written by the same guy who did 999), and I'd recommend that as well. It's harder to find because it's out of print, but you know, the internet, it can be done.

I have loved dating sim gameplay elements since Harvest Moon on the SNES.

Really, unless you're playing Love+ or something, it's more like some kind of friendship game- DOA Beach Volleyball completely played like a dating sim, for example. I just like the getting to slowly learn more about a person thing. And marrying ladies.

Me too. I almost always have a live action TV series and an anime on the go, and alternate between the two depending on how much time I have for viewing. At the minute I'm on Bleach S2, and Dead Zone S6.

Me too! Not all the animated shows I like are particularly well animated, but man, I am fascinated by the way animated characters move and the sort of imagination that cartoons (and comic books) allow for. They obviously have some budget constraints, but not at the level a live action show would. The writer's minds are the only real limit.

I get frustrated by the anime industry sometimes just because they put out so much and so much of it seems the same, but I thought last year had a lot of really good shows. Upcoming/ongoing winter season doesn't look that good but neither did last year's, and look how it turned out. Don't think anyone was expecting Madoka Magica to be so dark or visually inventive. My mind was blown when things get all trippy in the first episode. Really, as long as there are 1 to 2 good shows a season they're doing a pretty great job.

I bought a lot of the Harry Potter books the day they came out, mostly because that was the only way to avoid spoilers. And sometimes, even that wasn't enough!

I think it's especially awesome when stuff creeps up on you like that, and it's sort of a happy surprise when you realize it's there for you to enjoy. Though I like anticipating things too.
