I'm so so excited for Kick and Skull to get here. Kind of wish I'd paid for EMS, now. Ordered a prop for them too.

Really wanted a stand-alone Kenji Matsuda, and I could have paid slightly more for just him, or a couple bucks less and gotten the pair. Obvious choice is obvious.

Decade is an easy series to buy for. 4 choices, 2 of which I dislike. Hrmmm~

At one point I wanted my Kuuga to represent Onodera too, but it's just Godai, for me. I do like him, still, even though I think my opinion would've been different if I'd seen Kuuga first.

Definitely plan on getting both Decade and DiEnd one of these days. I actually kind of like Diend's complete form but you see so little of it that it just wouldn't be a good toy representation. Probably not the best for posing either. Would love to order him and Genta together.

the fact that they kill off hicks and newt in the opening credits really bothers me. so much for all of ripley's hard work in aliens when she made a point of going back for newt. and i thought killing off bishop was fucked up too. alien res isn't perfect but i'll take it over 3 any day. i'll even watch AvP (1) before i'll watch 3.

plus they used cgi a bunch for the alien, but early 90's cgi looks like shit. the rubber suits from the first 2 movies are far more realistic.

Final Form ride versions for Hibiki stuff is pretty good, since so many actors came back! Only the fans of Hibiki himself (and Asumu) are kind of screwed.

I actually kind of like Decade Hibiki. Toddler Asumu is unacceptable, though. Since Hibiki was older anyways they just could've gotten Asumu's actor back. Would've been cool to see how he looks now.

Yes, yes! It's like they made the whole movie and everything she fought so hard for pointless. I get that maybe they couldn't use all the actors, but they could've come up with a story that didn't mess with the previous one this way.

I wouldn't mind forgetting Pearl Harbor simply because it's the least entertaining movie I've ever seen. Saw it in theaters too, came so close to walking out but we never did. Wish we had, now. ; ; If I didn't remember it existed I'd appreciate that song from Team America less, though, and that's no good.

Jabba The Hutt in ROTJ looked more realistic than he did in any of the new ones. As did Yoda. I don't understand. Is it cheaper? Less time consuming?

jabba looked horrible in the ep iv special edition. they made him look a little better for the dvd re-release but he still looked nothing like he did in rotj.

they made yoda cgi so they could have him doing all the frog on speed combat moves. i think a lot of it is just laziness though. cgi is relatively cheap now and i think a lot of directors just assume it's more realistic than animatronics/puppetry/etc. die hard movie fans that pay close attention know this is not always the case


It's unfortunate when your favorites are considered bad.....:(........it's even better when someone says that looks or sounds really terrible, you still insist they watch it and after their opinions are changed completely. :)

whenever i start an alien marathon i either skip alien 3 or start watching it, get a third into it, and then decide i'd rather just go right to alien res.

the fact that they kill off hicks and newt in the opening credits really bothers me. so much for all of ripley's hard work in aliens when she made a point of going back for newt. and i thought killing off bishop was fucked up too. alien res isn't perfect but i'll take it over 3 any day. i'll even watch AvP (1) before i'll watch 3.

plus they used cgi a bunch for the alien, but early 90's cgi looks like shit. the rubber suits from the first 2 movies are far more realistic.

I think Michael Behn threw a big kafuffle over this movie. They ended up paying him than he made for Aliens, for just that shot of his face on the computer screen at the beginning.

I found some prints and this looks okay, but I wish someone'd actually scan the entire SH card deck. Having a Halo of the Sun card tacked onto this would make it a pretty good crossover, imo.

I definitely need to revamp my games list. Album list is probably still okay. Movie list should be fine, as well.

I like making lists representative. It's a remnant of my training in statistics and research design. Try not to have more than 1 of any particular thing.

But, my movie list has 3 Keanu movies, so I've already broken down the walls.

Might as well make a game list that has multiple Silent Hills and Final Fantasies.

I don't think it should matter how many times a Keanu or SH game ends up on a list.

As long as they're the type of quality that you believe is deserving of such a ranking....by all means put 'em on up there.

This news of the Silent Hill collection definitely made me think about how much I love 3. It was in my Top 5 before I played 2.

I'm not trying to change your mind, I had serious issues with it also but if you can face the idea watch the re-cut extended version. It doesn't fix the things that annoy you but it goes some way to fixing a totally broken film. It makes more sense.

No. It just expires after 30 days, no automatic renewal. You get to keep anything you bought at a discount but lose anything that was free except avatars.

I didn't have InFamous so I'll grab it. You get to keep the 2 games as well.

I liked InFamous, a lot, when I was playing it. Searching for shards after I finished the story was painful. Especially when I only had 5 or so left and the entire fucking city to comb for them.

I'm pretty well sure 2 is going to be much the same and I don't want any part of it. I don't even want to play the original again as a Sith Lord.

Definitely do the side missions, but don't get caught up in shard hunting, to maximize your enjoyment, IMO.

neg, i'm with you on loving matrix revolutions. i think in some ways it surpassed reloaded. especially in the big battle for zion scenes.

Soft subs are separate files (usually with an .srt extention) that play concurrently with the picture. The player needs to support them. I think most of us use VLC (well, I know I do). It does the job, and is free.

Hardsubs are burned onto the picture, they can't be turned off.

oooh. well since the files i've been getting are already subbed i guess i don't need the softs.

All of the episodes I have are hardsubbed which is good if you want to burn them to a dvd and watch them elsewhere.

Some of the KR movies are soft subs, which ironically I used to prefer but now means I have to watch them on the PC.

One thing I've noticed, if you watch a subbed movie on a commercially bought dvd on an HD TV the hardsubs get upscaled along with the picture but the soft don't.

The soft look like shit.

i've noticed an occasional spelling error in the hard subs. not complaining or anything, just mildly amused.

It says in the manual that it plays all region PS3 but only PAL version PS2, no NTSC PS2. I tried a R1 dvd once and it laughed at me.

I had one. played with it too much, the tenticles are very fragile. It doesn't keep balance so well. the antenna was the first to go, the hands were next and eventually ended up pretty much completely gone within the two years had him.

I had one. played with it too much, the tenticles are very fragile. It doesn't keep balance so well. the antenna was the first to go, the hands were next and eventually ended up pretty much completely gone within the two years had him.

They were bendy, to a degree. You can't coil them up, but you can definitely make some "S", "C" and "Z" shapes out of them.
I weaved them at one point. I found it better to use some of the legs to make it stand on its own rather than using the display stand.
It looked pretty neat with the arms stretched out entirely, like it was flying around.

Wow, Basco is shaping up to be one of the biggest Complete Monsters in Sentai. Learning more of Marvelous's backstory, especially how he got the Akai Ranger key, was interesting as usual. The fight scenes were great too. Also.... HOLY CRAP HOW MANY RANGER KEYS DOES BASCO HAVE?!?!?! And I read on Wiki that he has keys for characters like Zubaan and Mele. WHAT?!

Jabba The Hutt in ROTJ looked more realistic than he did in any of the new ones. As did Yoda. I don't understand. Is it cheaper? Less time consuming?
I can understand maybe for the odd shot here and there but as a whole character CGI makes me bleh.

Nolan made sure he used minimal CGI for his Batman films and that is astounding, considering some of those shots and FX.

I always hear mixed things on the cheapness of CGI. This is probably because 99% of my knowledge on this stuff comes from DVD commentaries. I remember the Donnie Darko commentary talking about how they used an effect that they had in The Abyss and it was so cool that they could do stuff like that that cheaply now thanks to CG. I can appreciate that, definitely, but such a huge part of what I love about film is seeing the creative ways in which they achieve said effects. Even if you can tell it's fake, it's still a ton of fun to watch, for me.

I don't hate all CG. I love Pixar movies, Golem, and I really thought they used CG effectively in the first Mummy. Just wish it wasn't so prevalent.

Nolan is really good about that stuff. There are a lot of nice effects in Inception that were done without CG either. Highly recommend some of the special features!


i've never understood how dick is a nickname for richard. 'rich' makes more sense.

i also don't get how 'jack' was jfk's nickname. i understand when nicknames shorten a long name, but jack/john...same number of letters, both one syllable...

As an example of how far people would stretch for nicknames, look at Margaret. Margaret in Welsh is Megan, Meg or Meggy can be a nickname for Megan, Maggie and Peggy are sort of similar to those, they can be nicknames. William/Billy works in the same way. Daisy was also a common nickname for Margaret at one point- it's because daisy in French is la marguerite. Same goes for Pearl (margarita in Latin).


I don't think it should matter how many times a Keanu or SH game ends up on a list.

As long as they're the type of quality that you believe is deserving of such a ranking....by all means put 'em on up there.

I don't hate CG either. It's still an art and I respect that. Those are artists working too. Whether it's Avatar, Toy Story or Transformers, those are some uber-talented CG artists hard at work and deserve some recognition for their hard work.

I love seeing those guys win awards. They're so quiet and shy.

I just think CG shouldn't have replaced a lot of things. Especially in the Star Wars films. The sets, the puppets, the models.

LOTR blended all that perfectly. It's so nice to see Jackson walking around actual sets and models.

i agree. the kind of movies that zach snyder does (where it's all shot in front of a green screen) really bother me.

I didn't like seeing the new scenes in the classic trilogy of Star Wars. Jabba meeting Han at the starport... that cannot be unseen.
I hear the blu-ray release will be the Special Edition Extended Edition only.
He'll probably release the original "remastered" editions afterward.

And yeah, as far as the Alien series go, I find the alien in Alien3 to be a little animated and CG.

I really love Nolan's work. How he minimizes CG. I got Inception on bluray for christmas, then went out and got the first two Batman movies on bluray as well.

I think CG needs talent and time to get it done right. Some movies look more like the "green screen" effects from low-budget movies from the 80's where you can see the cut & paste edges.

The first Transformers is one of my favorite CG incorporated movies.

The extended cut I mentioned doesn't have the dog-alien. It comes out of a different animal. Won't say what it is. Much more menacing.

Went to grab the DVD (I have 2 & 3 presently, waiting to get the Quadrilogy on blu-ray), then remembered as I started opening the case.
Yeah, the extended cut is more menacing. I liked it better, but it the CG is still very much like a cartoon-hybrid.

I think I like the extended cut more than the theatrical release.

I remember I thought the use of weird aspect ratios in some of the scenes was nice and very odd at the same time.
Like when the flare drops in slow motion while they're booby-trapping the tunnels.
The visual presentation really stuck with me after the first time I watched it.

I definitely need to revamp my games list. Album list is probably still okay. Movie list should be fine, as well.

I like making lists representative. It's a remnant of my training in statistics and research design. Try not to have more than 1 of any particular thing.

But, my movie list has 3 Keanu movies, so I've already broken down the walls.

Might as well make a game list that has multiple Silent Hills and Final Fantasies.

I don't think having a bunch of Keanus is a bad thing or miss/ over representative. after all

I think I’ve said this before but it needs saying, there are too many forms in the show. What is it for Ryotaro Nogami, 8? Most of which we only see like 2-3 times. Being a huge sword I figured that Momotaros was the default for Liner form but in the finale we saw that Ryutaros could shot it too so what does Axe & Rod attack look like in that form?
Sure Gun is kinda boring it just shots a big blast as a finisher but I would have liked to see more rod and axe variants thrown in.
Deneb became the cannon only 3 times I think.

Overall this was an original and refreshing take on time travel with memories playing a huge role and that if someone remembers a person they can’t be killed in the past as long as the imagin is killed. Speaking of that is the piano man still on Denliner?

Watching Owner and Station Master go to town on that huge platter made me hungry for fried rice but then kinda stomach queasy.

I asked about the Piano man, too, Tom. Deneb becomes the Denebick Buster. There are people who know the names of EVERYTHING because there are websites dedicated to that sort of thing, but I don't go too much into it. Like the name of the trigger on the Bashaa Magnum. I know everything that's presented outright and named in the context of the show, and that's enough, for me. Some things I do pick up from outside, but it's the stuff that's so common knowledge it's hard to avoid.

I'm pretty okay with all the forms in Den-O because they all have a purpose.

Platform is pretty much gone, now. In the post-series movies Ryou henshins straight into Liner Form.

I'd say wait til you watch OOO, but so far they've been fairly sedate on form changes. I wish they'd do tons more mixed combos because there's just SO MANY.

You've got a wealth of movies to watch now, especially if you're okay with seeing Decade stuff without having watched Decade. Climax Deka and Saraba, for right now. Then you can make a decision on the Decade crossover movies. The exercise video is the Hyper Battle Video for the show. HBVs are sort of summary episodes where you're shown all of a rider's forms and powers, and sometimes exclusive forms and such. They're pretty much just a tradition at this point and are always made for each series.
