New 10. I stopped adding tracks when I hit 20 because any more than that is scary.

Then I split them into 2 lots of 10, the keepers and the losers, and then randomly took 5 from each and tried to make them fit together in a sensible way. So half are my first choices and half are my second choices.

It turned out a lot more friendly and mainstream than if I had went with my initial selection; nothing scary on this one. :rolleyes:

It's kinda boring in places, I think but I'm not starting again. It�s in the usual place, and is a 7zip.

Burtt killed Williams' AOTC score. :( Replaced most of it with TPM.

Beltrami got fuckered on Scream 2 by replacing his stuff with Zimmer.

Elfman got the shit in the kitchen on Spidey 2, by replacing alot with Young's music.

though it could be also that he's constrained by the producers/directors he works with. maybe they say "yeah use that sad moaning lady from gladiator" and he's like "sigh...okay"

or maybe he's lazy.

as far as burtt goes, he's a brilliant sound editor but it's not just AOTC that he's fucked up. there are plenty of moments in the original trilogy where i think he's just mixed the music way too low to the point where it's often drowned out completely by the sound effects.

it's sad how elfman was alienated to the point of not returning to score SM 3, though i thought young did an awesome job.

i also neglected to mention how goldsmith's score for legend was almost completely cut by ridley scott.

not to mention what cameron did to horner's aliens score.

He's lazy and knows the less the intelligence and thought put into the score the more fanboys will gobble it up.

As long as it's big choir and testicle driven brass with a tortured patriotic hero theme, it's sure to be a hit.

See, what Zimmer does it plain lazy and he should know it.

People like Brian Tyler, Alexandre Desplat, Patrick Doyle and David Arnold have taken all those same elements and actually wrote something that you can tell had some thought put into both the development of the orchestrations, themes and textures.

Kingdom Of Heaven was Harry Gregson-Williams best work to date and Scott butchered it by putting in classical music and old Beltrami and Graeme Revell cues.

What the fuck was that? Right in the middle of a big battle scene, Beltrami's Blade II music kicks in? :laugh: Terrible.

HGW vowed to never work with Scott again.

Terrence Mallick does the same. I think he nearly replaced all of Horner's score on "A New World" with classical music. :laugh:

Sometimes it works for the best though.

Take for instance James Newton Howard's score for "I Am Legend". By taking out a lot of the music he wrote for it and leaving silence it ultimately added to eerie effect of isolation and loneliness to the film. I love JNH's music A LOT but it was the right thing to do.

I like how it was fixed for Inception, the DTS-HD MA on the second bluray disc. Still missing tracks though from the full retail soundtrack. Someone mentioned it might be because of copyright/legal issues with Edith Piaf's cue.

I still with for all the "bonus" music you can download (like "H20" the free download from the official site, and the bonus cues from Inception for free also) are only in mp3. It would've been better to have options, mp3, wav and whatever mac users prefer (aac?).

This reminds me of something very specific. I bet one of you could figure it out.

Pics wherein man-made crap is left empty or redundant and nature is slowly reclaiming are always interesting to me. Like the car and the dead leaves and the new growth. Brilliant. And to capture it all you have to do is be there at the right time because nature does all the hard work.

I'll usually grab pics of broken clocks. I try my best to forget about time whenever I can.

kubrick did that a lot. i think directors get SOO used to hearing the temp tracks that it's hard for them to part with that music and they wind up keeping it. i also think many in the film industry (and most people in general) really take film music for granted.

i generally try to put no more than 2 songs by the same artist. that helps me decide quicker.

I'm going to deliberately bend my listening to make sure the only repeats for the near future will be Say Anything. They just can't really be avoided. It's not as artificial as it may seem. I'm enjoying listening to stuff I haven't heard in a good while.

As I said, I have my own concurrent agenda. Phase Final will be fun ;D

Handbrake is an alright DVD ripper, Neg.

DVD Decrypter works excellently well but it's a win32 program. I don't know of a good one for mac.

My actual PLAYLIST - the stuff I listen to on my PSP and laptop is around 10GB and around 128-160 bit-rate wise.

I have more than one but added together they sit at 198 gb at the minute. I still have stuff on the external that I haven't transferred over. I do it every once in a while to give myself something old that sounds new again. :D

Mount your iso to a virtual drive.
Use DVD decrypter to rip it as a .vob.
Use Format Factory to convert it to avi.


That should work. I use both of those programs and they both work wonderfully.

I don't have it anymore. :sad: I "upgraded" to the 64 bit Win7. Win7 is the best Windows yet but 64 bit is a pain in the ass. Nothing old works with it. No driver support. I should have stuck with 32 bit. :mad:

Oh and a note for if anyone wants to use DVD decrypter, you may want to go into the settings, click 'file mode > options > file splitting > none. If you don't do that then each chapter of the dvd comes out separately instead of being one file.

I was wondering because dvdshrink can make .vob. Then the format factory could do it's magic to them. I think dvdshrink works with 64 bit.

Spoot. I don't have a full .vob to try with it. :( The ones I have are split sections.

Pretty much then just test it out and see how it works on what you have. I would imagine the menus wouldn't work with an avi format.

I went to the homepage while you were trying that. I get nervous when an FAQ has multiple spelling errors. Makes me wonder about the program. :-P

The program is marvelous. I don't think English is their first language but they know how to build programs. I don't think having the menu in the avi would matter. It most likely wouldn't, but work all menus are timed so it would play til it's end then move on to the video. It would just be part of the video.

This seems to imply that it goes direct from disc to avi. (mp4 in the picture)



It might need the k-lite pack to run. If it doesn’t work on 64 bit then I’ll need to run an exe to fix the runtime. :mad:

Don't do that. Even though it says that, that feature has never been known to work if you're trying to use it to rip the physical disc :(

I don't know how the rest of you guys do it but I made a folder on my desktop and when I listen to an album the whole way through I copy and paste a song from it into the desktop folder. By the end of the week I have a load to choose from. I've learned to stop at 20 as it gets hard over that for me.
I keep note in my head of what I want to put on and hope like hell I remember. :laugh: 'cept for some reason, I put a few into the folder ahead of time during the week.
I usually pick 2 or 3 of the same artist and pick what song I want to use at the last minute.
This week had 3 songs each by Megadeth, Doomtree, Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet, Mowg, Joe Hisaishi.........they ALL got cut. :(


I wish I'd kept all the ones that didn't make the cut. I could have made a "best of the rest" at the end. Although some of them have ended up on subsequent volumes as I listen to the same stuff for more than a week.

But yeah...a lot of them do make it sooner or later as I do listen to them quite often.

What size is everyone's music folders?

355 GB on the external HDD, and probably about another 80 DVD-r's with music.
Mostly FLAC with some AIF/AIFF/WAV (for editing purposes) and then lossy formats (mp3/aac/m4a).
And a bout 50 retail CD's. I think. more or less.

Yes, DVD Decrypter is all-around good.
Other popular dvd decrypers:
free: RipIt4Me (it needs DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink installed to work properly, it has it's own decryption like DVD Decrypter)
paid: AnyDVD(preferred for dvd) and DVDFab (preferred for bluray)


Mine is around 100-200GB.
But most of that is FLAC/APE/320MP3 stuff.
I've got spinals of DVD/CD-Rs of stuff since I was in high school just collecting dust for the hell of it.

My actual PLAYLIST - the stuff I listen to on my PSP and laptop is around 10GB and around 128-160 bit-rate wise.

Yeah, the stuff I actually listen to is around that, but all FLAC still lol.
My mp3 player (3.8gb) is what I take with me everywhere. And it's never fully loaded, there's just too much music to syphon through to put on there.
My Xbox is a mess. I keep trying to make a custom folder for custom soundtracks but I eventually get tired from picking the right music.
And now with the 10 songs, it's not easy trying to figure out Vol 2 ; ;


Something that turns dvd into avi or divx would be sweet. I had something that mounted ISO files but they were around 6 gig per disc.

DVD to AVI?
1)DVD disc
2)decrypt to HDD in "folder structure" (use dvd decrypter, anydvd, dvdfab, etc)
3)use Handbreak, Xvid4PSP, or MeGUI, or other to convert to either Xvid or x264 inside an AVI file.

DivX doesn't handle quality and compression as well as Xvid or x264 inside an AVI file.
DivX you need a large file size to get decent quality out of it (around 2gb per movie).
Xvid you can do the usual 700mb file size and be happy with it. And if you go with the 1.4gb file size, you get much better results (and 10x better than that of DivX).
x264 you get the best results. I usually use x264 and keep it around 1.4-2gb per movie and it looks identical to the original DVD.
x264 can give you the best compression and keep the higher qualities.
Normally, if you want better quality, you need larger file (as with DivX). But you can now have small file with much better quality (as with x264).
I strongly force all of you to switch to x264 for all your DVDtoAVI/DVDtoMP4 needs :)
Handbreak and Xvid4PSP is ideal for converting your dvd folders.
Don't use the. VOB, instead load the .IFO as it contains all the info your converting program needs.
The .IFO will tell your converting program where each chapter is, subtitle info, Aspect Ratio, Display Ratio, Pixel Ratio, and other geeky stuff.
It also tells your converting program about multiple .VOB files (if they are present) and what each one is about.



I haven't done this before but I think I have a sound theory for you.

Mount your iso to a virtual drive.
Use DVD decrypter to rip it as a .vob.
Use Format Factory to convert it to avi.


That should work. I use both of those programs and they both work wonderfully.

"Daemon Tools Lite" is about the best free virtual drive you can use.
And please use either Xvid or x264 when converting to AVI :)


Win7 is the best Windows yet but 64 bit is a pain in the ass. Nothing old works with it. No driver support. I should have stuck with 32 bit. :mad:

I used to use dvdshrink to make .vob files but it needed an old version of Nero burning rom to burn them back to disc.
My old Nero hates my 64 bit. :mad:

I loved it so much! The sound just blew me away. I remember watching the SoundWerks profile on them, the 7.1 was actually really good. So much bass in all the new weapons. The drone ships were immense!
Brains and Wheelie were actually funny.
And now I want the toys of Megs and Lazerbeak. Wouldn't mind finding a toy of the Drillbot (Shockwave's pet).
This one is so much darker. It goes all "War of the Worlds" with lazers and people exploding into dust and skulls flying around.
The music is so, so, so, so much better when accompanied by the movie. Soundtrack is okay, but the movie has so much more music in it. A lot of great cues that never made the retail release :(

I cried twice watching that movie. Actually a lot I think lol.
The 3D was epic. Much better than any other 3D movie I've seen so far.
The screen depth was just pure hard-on. I'm glad there wasn't too much eye-popping crap. I hate that in 3D really.
It's tiring on the brain to process eye-popping crap than it is watch depth perception 3D. And when a movie 2.5 hours, it really helps lol.

It wasn't in the Control Panel / programs list so I went to the Program Files (x86) and found an uninstaller in there.

It seemed to go well until it said that some files couldn't be removed and can be safely deleted separately.

There seems to be just an exe in there now, unless there are some hidden stuff.

I haven't rebooted yet so maybe it just needs to do that to clear shit from the registry?

Yeah, that sounds like what it's doing.
Whatever the .exe was doing, seems to have accessed resources like the pagefile/memory/registry so deleting won't happen until the next reboot.

There's some free programs that will kill the program from accessing anything so you can "free" it and delete it right away, but at this point, it's safest to reboot so other crap goes with it.

Also recommend using CCleaner to clean junk files then do a reg clean.

I don't do torrents. Most torrents have the bluray rips in about 2gb per movie. They use x264, but with 1080p resolution. Looks like DivX when they do it like that :/
If you want a proper bluray rip in 1080p, get one that's at least 8gb-12gb with at least 10mbps video bitrate.

But generally, for youtube rips.
You can use "JDownloader". It works for all OS/bit versions.
install it, import your youtube link and download the mp3 version.
It'll download as video.tmp just rename it to video.mp3 and it will playback normally.

Alternatively, you can download any of the mp4 videos and use "tsMuxeR GUI 1.10.6" to demux the AAC only.

This is the best method as it's all lossy formats and you don't have to convert from lossy to lossy or any such.
Just grab the formts that Youtube offers.

blarg. upon reading some reviews for the bluray release of TF: The Movie...seems like there's only a UK import or an Australian import to work with.
And there's never really been any substantial upgrades to the bluray transfer. All audio formats sound identical to the dvd.

I only saw the first 2 Scary Movies.

It's my mother fucking back from my tailbone all the way to my neck...I can barely breathe because of the pressure on my muscles. Can't seem to get a hold of anybody on the phone but I have few options thanks to my friends moving away one by one until I only have cyber ones. Sure that is logical course of action but what stops the majority is that to make a move it costs money...a lot of money especially moving out of the country. Things are really tough all over financially and Americans are no different. (except the rich fucks of course)

I had a meth problem for about 6 months back in 1988...I believe that's what wrecked my teeth. I will no doubt need dentures soon. Thankfully that's the only run in with hard drugs that have had. I deleted a whole load of stuff that wasn't a good BR. My Score folder took the worst hit.

The free account of mediafire keeps links for as long as you keep your account, and there is no limit to how many you can have in there. The only limitation I can see is they don't allow files over 200 mb.

I've been hearing that a lot from many here "sorry I deleted it" the only thing I tend to delete is duplicate or upgraded stuff. I keep all my stuff long term on external hard drives that I compulsively make back ups on dvd-r.

You don't have to share a score or soundtrack at inferno. You could post some of your madness in the "talk soup" section but keep in mind that we cannot post too much NSFW content because we are on a free forum and could get into trouble.
