'Twas. I don't care if you can name any of the actors. It's best you don't should you recognize a face. You don't want to soil them any more than they already did.
The only redeeming factor of the movie are the Fire Bender's actors. They did really good. Water tribe and others... BLEH!
And JNH's score. Extremely beautiful. I've listened to the soundtrack 100's of times before watching the movie. :erm: did not see that coming. at all.

Although the tv series has a huge, animated style of comedy, the actors overdo it when they try to exaggerate their motions and actions.

The story is so condensed, it's practically no different than combining the first and last episode of season 1 of the series. You lose out on all the shenanigans in between.

I often ask myself, where is the adventure? Where are the people? What the fuck is this?

Let's not forget the dry delivery of lines, the very much less animated flying dog, the typical martial arts choreography (so what if he's a kid), the limited use of "bending", and the bad guys who can't do their jobs.

If you're interested in watching a 3D version, don't watch it with a 3D tv, don't use a converted version of red/cyan, amber/blue, green/mangenta.
Just use good ol' Pulfrich glasses. You'll save yourself the headache of the miscalculated parallax and the ghosting between frames.

3D tv's are supposed to be the ideal method for 3D movies. But, the companies that produce the tv's vary, widely. Some use cheap technology and give shit-poor results. Others use really good technology but have no idea how to utilize them.
Not to mention, the players themselves (blu-ray,ps3, etc) vary in quality as well.
How you set them up really has a huge impact.

Take for instance, Transformers DOTM. Everyone bought the 3D BD version and complained it was darker. Really dark.
However, MB went on to say that he had mastered the 3D BD release to proper color timings. The way it's intended to watch.
But due to the lack of information and understanding of the 3D technology for many product companies, it looks like shit.
You need a really good tv, a really good BD player, and the proper setup and fine-tuning in order to get the right "look".

GI Joe 2 news.
My sources (who shall remain nameless,) have explained why it got pulled.
After the success of 21 Jump Street, they had a focus group to find out whether they should edit the film more in favor of Channing Tatum.
What they were told was that the movie was a big steaming incomprehensible mess. They've been trying to recut it with what they have, but it's not working....
So....
Reshoots all round. First of course, they've have to have the script rewritten, then shoot what they need. And they'll have to do that around the stars' schedules, many of whom will have moved on to other projects.
Pulling it now is about as big a cluster fuck as a production can get.

Oh yes, you can make it too complicated. You can get caught up in useless tangents, involved in deadend plot threads, raise questions you have no intention of answering...
Apparently, it wasn't just that they found the plot confusing. The test group reacted to GI Joe 2 the way this thread reacted to The Last Airbender. Interestingly enough, the test group was so wrapped up in the bitching about the crapfest they just sat through that they never answered either yes or no about Tatum.
Keep in mind, none of this is an easy choice. Reshoots could be over a million. 3D conversion is in the millions. Marketing budgets goes up tens of millions, because since the marketing campaign will have to start over, everything you paid for to date is obsolete. On top of that, the film now has to make many times that more than originally projected to compensate for the added expense. That's before Hasbro gets involved, as this decision totally fucks their merchandise rollout, which could cost them a shitload of money. (This from a company that thought a Battleship movie was a good way to 209 million dollars.) So, one focus group is not enough to make them want to pull the film. One focus group makes you have a much more test groups, and makes you try and fix the problem with small edits, and perhaps some ADR.
Films that get pulled like this never work. The 13th Warrior, Timeline, and (wait for it) Pluto Nash.
There may have been an executive at Paramount who after seeing the results exclaimed the same thing you did. It's a reasonable statement. But as John Carter just proved, you can fuck up anything if you try hard enough.

I've read a lot of bad books lately. I've been on a YA kick and am learning that most YA is wretched. Only a couple books have been hits. The Supernatural/Buffy fanfic book was sadly one of the better ones. I could come up with some awful stuff for people to read easily.

Region 2 'TV extended version' is 180 minutes long and contains the extended intro and scenes. Lynch's name has again been removed and re-credited to Allen Smithee due to his objection to the extended intro.

The region 2 DVD released by Castle, includes some footage not included in the original Alan Smithee version. One of these scenes, is when the Atreides family arrives on Arrakis. The fremen are watching them from a distance using a device that looks somewhat like binoculars.

The Region 2 Castle DVD lists the sound as being MONO, and yet the soundtrack is quite clearly in full stereo. Sadly, the source material for this release is clearly from a videotape master with tiny sound dropouts and a slight picture degradation. It is also in 4:3 and cuts out many of the gorier scenes.

Converting Fellowship of the Ring from BD to DVD-DL (Dual-Layer)/DVD-9 and so far it's been taking 17 hours for the first disc alone.

FOTR: Disc 1: 2passes, using HCENC to convert to DVD format, DVD-DL...
Pass 1: 6:44:44
Pass 2: time used: 10:48:50, time left: 0:25:03

And the first disc is only about 1:45:##!!!

Disc 2 is 2 hours 2 minutes~
That one's going to take about 20 hours :laugh: :sad:

And that's just for the DVD-9 versions.
I want to convert them again and make standard DVD-5 (single layer) versions too.

Me thinks I'll use my fastest machine to do those :laugh:
