The warning and publisher bits were regular 480 :confused: I can't tell if there's something wrong with my playback or if it' actually kind of chunky looking on the disc........ I can understand the lack of caring to put it on disc because it's a small children's show, but honestly............. This is actually one show I would love to see in blu...........

the warning and crap is usually 4:3 AR, on BD it gets upgraded needlessly to 16:9 :rolleyes:
On newer content for DVD's, it may or may not get a 16:9 treatment.

The worst thing you can see, however, is when the movie is 16:9, but manufactured to disc as 4:3.
I remember when we bought "Six Days, Seven Nights" on DVD, the movie itself is supposed to be 16:9, but was finalized as 4:3.
So it appeared normal on a regular box tv that isn't widescreen.

But after we got a widescreen tv, we noticed the difference and had to play with the tv's display and the dvd player's display. It was a headache >.<
It wasn't even "letterbox" friendly for the dvd machine to pick up and adjust to standard dvd standards >.<

I don't think this was ever intended for 16:9. I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be 4:3......... the case says 2005 so why on earth did they do this? The whole ratios thing was still new then. The animation on this show is something I just particularly adore but the playback on the comp here is tickin' me the hell off. It doesn't look smooth at all. Every movement has a shadow trail behind it. I wonder if it would look better if I put it in another player.....

You could go for what Doc found recently is YAMB (Yet Another MP4 Box), it's a command-line with a GUI to smooth the process.
Upon installation it asks if you want to install MKVtoolnix and eac3to.
These are only used "silently" so that it can read the files you chose and figure out the best way to work with them without re-encoding.

However, the interface program "YAMB" hasn't been updated since 2009, while the components have been updated:
MP4box, March 02, 2011.
MKVtoolnix, (actually installed as MKVextract) is constantly updated. Just last night a new version.
eac3to hasn't been updated for awhile, the Dev is currently working on other projects.
The only thing eac3to really needs updated are the internal libav filters.
Also, every generic install of eac3to provides bare-bones capability, although the internal libav filters with ffmeg/ffdshow installed, there's really nothing else you really need.
Except for ArcSoft's decoder for the best DTS decoding. (this includes the lossless versions of DTS-HD Master Audio)
(This requires some hacking from a trial version and special scrutiny to the one of the .dll files that ArcSoft provides)

BUT, since these extra programs go through updates (which may or may not tend to your needs, best to read the entire changlog from your current versions to the newest versions for anything useful, mp4/ogg/subs are the biggest updates to read about), and YAMB not so much, you have to make sure you update all of them, should you choose to update; lest there be any compatibility problems with all the interacting programs.

Since MKVtoolnix (that contains mkvextract) has been through serious updates and mp4 box hasn't gone through those updates yet, you'll need a patch for the most recent version of mp4 box.

all of these updates have, in no way, compromised eac3to. Not that I've seen so far.

While YAMB does wonders, there's another program I like to use every so often:
VirtualDub.

Although this is about as difficult as AVIsynth, if you're new to it.
It's has a GUI for it. But requires 3 things, which can all be found separately.
The command line tool, which is the core of the program.
And the GUI, which also has it's own implementations to offer in harmony with the command line tool.
And also the filters, essential for reading different file types and applying different filters to your video (resize, dark/bright, color correction, noise, denoise, deinterlace, etc).

VDub and the core can be found in one package together:

AviDemux (http://anonym.to/?http://www.videohelp.com/tools/AviDemux)is much simpler than VirtualDub.
But more difficult than YAMB.
Simpler in that it installs all you need in one go.
Difficult as it can be a bitch to certain file types... *sips coffee*

All three programs allow joining/appending files without re-encoding.
No re-encoding aka "remux/remuxing/remuxed"

In order to remux a file, it must first be extracted from its original file: demux/demuxing/demuxed.
Demuxing is a lossless method of extracting where there is no data loss. Bit-for-bit extraction.
Remuxing is a lossless method of merging files into a container format where there is not data loss. Bit-for-bit muxing.
(Muxing is the actual term for merging files losslessly, REmuxing is just a way of saying "I remuxed the bluray so it's 1:1 quality, bro")
