My favorite Disney movies are Sword in the Stone and Sleeping Beauty. Sword in the Stone is the best storywise and Sleeping Beauty has Eyvind Earle backgrounds + Maleficent.

I was going to do The Walking Dead but opted for non-sci-fi/fantasy for my 1st Box instead.
I had planned on BB season 1. I borrowed it from a friend, my mother watched it and loved it, then without thinking I gave it back before rewatching myself. Now that friend is in the Navy and I can't borrow it again.

The Nutshells took me about 20 minutes.

Nut Suites take about 2 minutes.

Nut Box's take about 1 or 2 hours.

Clocks takes about 1 week. :laugh:
Ink is easiest, Box is easy but can take awhile, Load takes forever.

the 2nd season is a little more difficult.

The 3rd one will be even worse.

I'm on the 4th season now....
The sequential season's were a little challenging in that how do you review it without spoilering the previous seasons? I think I did OK. Anything You can glean from the review is pretty basic like "shit happens and it either does or doesn't get resolved now."

There really isn't a bad PURE OOO combo. It's just bad story execution and use of budget that fucked them. If they had spent more time on random combos and saved the effects budget for cool shots nearer to the end of the series instead of as they were introduced, they could have done something a lot more compelling.

W feels like a set of discrete stories that have just enough in them to tie together the entire narrative and slowly build it until everything kicks in near the end. The detective theme and gaia memory distribution system really worked for them.

OOO......OOO is a mess. I still don't know about Kagami's motivations and whether he was doubling back on himself or what the fuck was completely going on.

W's strongest powers work in a forward progression and their base set is used as a tool kit to face any obstacle. OOO gets caught up on a utilitarian, random combo and it fucks them in the end. Depressingly so.

Maybe they knew the story was flailing so they padded it out with FX shots? I don't know, just guessing.

It supposedly runs in our family, but I lucked out. My brother and sister got it bad though. He had all the facial ticks and weird things like carrying around an unopened soda. He's better now on medication. Totally different person all married and junk.

She wouldn't even sit on our furniture because we had a dog. And yet she was the grossest housekeeper. Go figure. What did she use all those paper towels on then?

I've definitely seen people with OCD who were gross in really orderly ways. Lines of used tissues and stuff like that.

The House is still trying to push SOPA through and there's PIPA in the senate. Or maybe I'm mixing the two up. I think a lot of people expect they're going to try to pass the bill quietly when people are less up in arms so they're trying to keep outrage levels high.

Super is okay......rarely.

Super Climax Form is fine. It's Den-O, it's a comedy series.

Too much fucking CHOU shit that isn't deserving of the title, AT ALL. Cyclone/Joker Xtreme is justified and I have a treatise on why it combines all of W's powers in case anyone disagrees. Super TaToBa is just rehashing the powering up of the base form and it's a base form that doesn't begin to tie together all of the OOO system powers.

I can forgive almost any form, and even form an attachment to it, if it feels justified from a story perspective. Most final forms aren't the sort of final form I'd invent in my head- and that includes Cyclone/Joker Xtreme- but with good writing it still feels like a final form, still feels like something really special. The Cyclone/Joker Xtreme episode is probably my favorite final form episode in all of Kamen Rider.


Of course, I do love Hyper Gatack, a form so useless it didn't even appear in the main series.

Fourze isn't as bad with this, but it's doing it a little too. The forms are being handled fine, but with the Switches it's a lot like OOO. A whole story-arc is spent on a switch being so important or Gentaro needing to master it, but then it mostly gets ignored once the arc concludes.

I really dislike that sort of set-up to begin with. It can be handled well- see Kuuga- but in the case of this and OOO they spend the time making it look awesome but then rush onto the next thing almost immediately. W proved that you can sell lots of extras without negatively impacting the plot. In Fourze especially I feel like it would have been easy to create something that the monsters-of-the-week use that people can collect. Probably something a lot better than switches.

The aesthetics for Fourze are really weird in general, although I'm warming to the fooddroids. I don't get how the monster design can be so good but all the riders wind up looking so ridiculous.

I was watching Ep. 32, just yesterday. Last night? I can't tell at this point... It's between that and Blade's. Kenzaki's, not Chalice's. Maybe just because I love Caucasus so much. Both are amazing. But, it's always between those two, regardless of what we're discussing, so why am I blabbering?

Well, Chalice's too, but more in a general arc sort of way and not that episode on its own.

Fooddroids might be used really well, I have no way of knowing. But, in and of themselves they were unimpressive to begin with and have gone down hill since. Hulashake is a bit better than Potachoken (sp? I don't care) but everything in this universe is better than that toy. I miss disc animals. I really should have gotten at least one.

Most of the switches are just accessories rather than new forms, which helps, but I really dislike the way they're used in fights. It sucks, because they actually managed to do the teamwork thing pretty well in this series- radar works great and I like that different KRC members provide strategies from episode to episode- but just because of the way the switches are used the fights still feel really stop and start. Some of these monsters look fantastic but the fights with them feel so bland. It's frustrating. At least most of the cast is really likable.

Honestly, the fooddroids don't work very well in the show at all. They just sometimes look really cute in motion. Maybe I'm just looking for thing to like?

I expect we'll have something like them every year, now. :( I honestly loved the candroids, regardless of the general sloppiness of OOO, but it's just so much. It must be frustrating for writers too. Selling hundreds and hundreds of toys in 48 episodes while still developing a compelling storyline and characters can't be easy.

I think now more than ever, it's important to have a strong theme in a Kamen Rider series. W was able to include so much without it feeling weird because of the detective theme. OOO sort of had a vending machine theme, but nothing really strong, and Fourze has its weird space/american high school tropes at a school in Japan combination (which is where I think the fooddroids come from). If it'd just picked one and committed to it I think it'd be a stronger series. I'm still dreaming of my art deco Kamen Rider series.

Totally unrelated, but how is it that half my friends from high school that I'm still in touch with are super religious now? None of them were religious in high school.

Candroids didn't bother me for most of the series, if only because I hadn't watched Hibiki, yet. I know what you're thinking, hold on a sec ;)

It felt like I didn't have a frame of reference for good usage until then. I did, but hold on~ They were interesting as toys for the very most part (if relatively simple) and I almost bought some, several times. Mainly Kujaku, if only to have a cell of my favorite medal. But once I saw Hibiki it was worlds apart in terms of consistent, integral usage.

Let's say Disc animals had a starring role, and memory gadgets were used so organically they were just as effective and easy to forget that they were a toy selling gimmick.

Yes. Den Den Sensor technically was hamfisted in there. But was it? Shroud creates things, she sent it to Philip who was enamored with putting it together. Its origin is organic in spite of itself. Phones, a watch, a camera, a recorder. Fit the theme and blended in fantastically.
