i don't care as much anymore.

i like what i like and that's enough for me.

i used to get upset if i liked a band that was indie/obscure and suddenly the band got big and other people were into it. i realized that was a selfish way to enjoy something; now i prefer trying to get as many people as possible to hear something i love

instead of worrying about a band "selling out" or "going corporate"

Jamie was too easy in retrospect, but what a cunt.
Everyone knew there was one twist left, but say it ain't so Terry. Ours was a short love affair.
Rosie's film felt rather cheesy, but still kind of got to me. Perhaps because I did somewhat get invested in the show.

Or they could slowly be realizing that the general populace doesn't like anything the studio likes.

MBay: "Turtles are aliens from a distant galaxy, land here in search for a lost artifact essential to their planet (the ooze) and disguise themselves as turtles, the first thing they see, as it happens they landed in a pet shop and found the turtles to be the quietest animals there. The dogs and cats were too noisy and hissy for their liking. Their master, arrived earlier, in the sewers, takes on the form of a rat after watching the rats survive off the fat of the land. Shredder is this big muscle mass, straight out of a "cheese grater factory" a steam-punk bar. The battle progresses and turns out that Earth is now in the middle of a war between two factions from a distant planet that is in jeopardy of survival. Part 1 of a trilogy. What do you guys think?"

Studio:

Fans: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pu-M_x1QYQg/TocUe860Y6I/AAAAAAAAAag/M-sZqJKVuyc/s1600/NO_Kick.gif

Studio: ...shit.

Problem was GIjoe was looking way better than the first one. and the fans were a tiny bit less anxious at it than they (rightfully) were at the first one. I still think it has something to do with money. As for turtle...Anything dealing with my childhood and involving Bay means I have to start saving money to hire a hitman.

What's next ? Robots in disguise: Done. Ninja Turtles: Mutilated (under the current script). I can only imagine the disaster if the guy got his hands on Something like Saint Seiya, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, evangelion or (shudders) Gundam.

JonC would probably go apeshit if Bay ever so much approached gundam.

There are some things only the devil can do.

That would sound badass coming out of some riders' mouths in reference to themselves. On the whole I think that arc is pretty awesome, even if I don't buy

Ryuusei saying he wanted to be Kisaragi's friend. His coming back to fight was great, though and says everything that needs to be said even if that little bit of it rang queer.

Still, everything together only serves to make Gentarou Godai caliber. Even if all he can accomplish is making Gentarou look good, I'll stand by my statement that he can't bring the show down.

Between John Carter and Battleship, the studios are starting to take a much more careful look at all their tentpole movies. The real ridicule for GIJoe is not that they pulled it, but that it took this long to figure they had a problem. Paramount then yanked World War Z, and then a few weeks later they pulled Turtles. (To which Variety remarked that at least this time they read the script before starting production.)

Hasbro may be reconsidering doing their entire toy and game line after Battleship. More importantly, studios may be less willing to back them. At the moment however, there are still plans for Monopoly, Risk, and Candyland (by Adam Sandler.) None of the cartoons you mentioned made enough money to make an adaptation worthwhile.
Gundam is only a possibility if Pacific Rim makes a pile of money, and even then, it's not a first choice. Only Wing did well in the US, and after the crash of the rest of the toy line, Bandai may be skittish about following Hasbro's lead.
I never like to say never, but there will never be a live action Evangelion.

wasn't Ray Wise (Leland) portraying one of Boddicker's henchmen in Robocop ?
Yes he was.

I just hope that Robocop remake I heard of years ago has been dropped. Just like Highlander.
No I'm afraid it's still on. They just hired Hugh Laurie to be the bad guy. (I don't know whether that means he's Boddicker or not.)
The Mrs had been joking that with the success or Iron Man that some pinheaded studio exec said, "Robocop is just like Iron Man." Oh, the laugh we had. Then she told it to one of her sources in VFX, who quietly replied that he was in contact with people in the art department, and that is exactly why they are making it.

Yesssss. I could totally see a couple riders saying it. Kick especially.

I wish there'd been a little more build up to Ryuusei gradually growing to really like and respect Gentaro beforehand, especially because it would have made him killing Gentaro a more intense and shocking moment. They dealt with it a little, but for me, they didn't do quite enough.

Still, I love that arc, and I love Cosmic, because in a way, it is the Kamen Rider Club. It's the support everyone has for each other that brought Gentaro back, and that gives him the strength he needs to protect all the people he's going to try to save anyways. And I thought Aries made a really cool and interesting villain. I loved him taking over the school, loved his crazy scripts, and thought he was just a pretty compelling antagonist. Really want more backstory for some of these guys, though. I felt like we got more of that before we got to the horoscope level Zodiarts, though there are some exceptions. And even though I think some of Ryuusei's characterization is...sloppy? I loved him fighting unhenshined to save everyone. That's one of those things that always gets me.

I like Ryuusei, in general, and I probably phrased what I said about him bringing the show down a bit badly. It's more like there's some plot stuff with him that's been badly handed, and if they don't deal with that before the show's over, it'll bring the overall show down for me. Mostly, I feel like it cheapens some stuff? But Gentaro is a glorious god regardless.

No, no, I definitely feel it was a bit rushed, overall, but the thing I have an issue with feels like the key thing that makes it feel that way. Without it, for me, it feels more acceptably fast. Regardless of Ryuusei himself, everyone's performances sell it. Hardcore.

I do feel like the Horoscopes are becoming a bit monster-of-the-week, but we do have to get through a lot, and there are ones that are having overarching parts. I'm getting totally behind Libra and I'd love to see him break loose fuck some shit up

I feel like maybe what you're talking about is coming up? I'll see how I feel when I get there, if that's the case.

I can wait for live action Eva. We haven't even finished the cartoon reboot yet. Eva the porno on the other hand is more possible. But they must get Asian American performers. Japanese porn stars are far too limp and I don't want it white washed. Also natural red head for Asuka and Rei and Misato should dye their pubic hair to match. Gundam toys didn't do well because there was juts so many of them out here. Various different sizes of figures plus models, plus mdoel figures over-saturated the market. Up until 4 years ago I could go into my walgreens and buy one of those bell bendy arms gundams from G-Gundam. Also that Windmill guy was everywhere.

If there is a season 3, I kind of hope it deals more with the mob stuff, but that was a closeout sort of ending. Where Linden plans on going that she would have to keep in touch is interesting. I feel like a lot of BSG actors have gotten roles they're completely wasted in. I was curious when it was Aronofsky on board.

...but now it's Jose Padliha.

and that makes me even more curious.

He made the Elite Squad films and Bus 174. They're top notch stuff.

Check those out and tell me you aren't dying to see what he does with Robocop.

I saw Tropa de Elite when it was released here. great movie.

But handling independantly a noir like crime story set in brazil doesn't mean you have what's needed to direct a cyberpunk movie where executive are sure to interfere.

So no. not really interested. I may change my mind if the concept arts are any good, though. but right now ? I'll keep Verhoeven's movie. And Basil's score. and Peter Weller. And Kurtwood Smith. And Ronnie Cox. I'll even keep Miguel Ferrer. And Nancy Allen. and all the rest. Robocop was one of the first cyberpunk movie I saw. Unlike many, I think it aged pretty well.

I won't say that when the Matrix will be 25 years old, i'm pretty sure of that.

Yet, I'll give you that, If Laurie interpretation of OCP CEO is as good as Jools Siviter that he played in spooks, that might prove interesting.

I think if you've got a good eye and know what to emphasize in both visuals and story you can make anything work no matter what the genre.

Studio meddling is a different story. That's where it could fall apart.

Watching 28 Days Later on BD.

That tunnel scene always gets me wiggins

It's really blotchy though. Grain isn't so much an issue.

It's more like a lot of DNR. The colors will run when the camera moves. A lot of scenes where it tilts downward on the city, it has runs in it.
Seems more like a really HQ VHS rip  :erm:

I can only watch it from at the most 8 feet away.

It'd be better to watch it further away.

At an angle, it's not so bad.

I don't think even downscaling to a DVD rip would gain any benefit. The data is really lost.

28 Weeks Later turned out much better in quality.

To repeat:
There will NEVER be a live action Evangelion.
It would cost a fortune to make. Expect $100 to $150 million per film. Add big stars, (and for that budget, there's a lot of incentive,) and you could easily see over $200 million each. Double that for marketing. There is not enough interest in the US to pay those kind of numbers for a film that has a plot structure and tone comparable to a low budget David Lynch film.
You have to be able to market this, with stars, with concept, in a way that will pull Avengers numbers. There are not enough Evangelion fans in the world to pull a tenth of those numbers. More importantly, no studio will believe there is enough numbers.
To compare, the biggest adult oriented anime to be known in the US is Akira, and attempts at producing a live action version of it have been even more disturbing than what Bay wanted to do with TMNT. In the end, the numbers were just not there. The basic cost (over $100 million, along with the studio doing what they felt was necessary to make it accessible to the much larger audience required to turn a profit, (i.e., based in the US with a white cast,) combined with the core fans turning against the project (for choices listed above,) guaranteed it was doomed to die.
Evangelion faces the same scenario, only it would cost more to make, and has a less accessible scenario.
So.
Never going to happen.
NEVER EVER.
NEVER.
Speculation about a feature, (or features,) is just that; speculation. It's fan fiction. It has no correlation with reality.
So dream if you want to dream. But don't pretend it has a hope in hell of coming true.

best quality mp4 video i've seen, me thinks

:awsm:

It took about 10 hours to convert on my fastest PC.

The options I set are insane.
On my desktop, it would've taken at least 16 hours to convert.

I saw to it that the first pass was slow.

The search algorithm for the Motion Estimation was set to really slow (Multi hex; slower settings is exhaustive but makes no visual difference, just compresses size just barely). Full Refinement Rate–distortion on all frames. Level 11.
Most scene releases will do at the least level 7.
I do at the very least level 9.

9-11 are the best, and slowest.

That's about the only other difference.
Key Frames are set to 5, the sanest level before things start to break.
Ref Frames are also in rage of 3-6 frames.

The Trellis option (for psycho-visual) is set to always on, with optimal B-Frames.

If it was compared to MP3, most scene releases will do 192cbr.
I'll do VBR-1. VBR-0 wouldn't make a difference.

I think a Japanese Eva movie or miniseries would probably be the ideal, for me. It'd be low budget but I really don't care about that stuff most of the time. Japan can do some pretty nice looking stuff on a minimal budget. And some goofy, obviously fake stuff, but like I said, it wouldn't bug me.

The Straight Story was so good.

I read the other day that Steven Spielberg almost directed a Twin Peaks episode. It didn't happen because he asked to do the season 2 premiere and Lynch wanted to direct that one. Maybe he could've livened up the really awful streak of episodes later on. Even if it had been bad it would have been something different. How does that not make sense? Lot of walking, so you should bring extra socks.
And you NEVER FORGET TO BRING YOUR TOWEL.

"You didn't partition your drive into smaller parts. And you've installed over 80gb of games on your main drive" :notgood:

2) Nope. Not the way I work. I ven got a motto for what I do.
"60% of the Time, It Works Every Time."
and for last resorts when nothing works:
"It needs a fucking magnet."

3) :this: I noticed the last time I hung out with my friends downtown, we walked a bit of the seawall. Sure we stopped at a table and had snacks and fed a seagull. But when I got home, my socks were totally soaked. ick.

When we go drinking at the park at night, I always bring towels for us to sit on. When we don't use the bench.

how do you link to a specific point in a youtube video?

Go down to share > code link thingy> click the check box thingy and it'll give an option to get a specific time stamp.... thingy...

Yay, I get to help.
Either pause and right-click copy at this time or just add "#t=XXmXXs" to the end of the address.

Pause the video at the point you want.

Right click and "copy url at this time".
OR
you can click "share" and click on the more options part to get the same thing.

but before you share it, open a new tab and paste it to see if it starts how you want it.
add or remove a second and open in a new tab.

Yup, I feel dumb about computer stuff on the internet, but I'm the person who fixes everyone's computer for them in real life. It makes me feel very strange.

It should make you feel like sir...ess? Liege?

Liege. The site equates a female sir as a liege.

I'm never this lucky :notgood: I get asked the most annoying and stupid questions about niche programs most people have never heard of. *sigh* And just because I can fix your shit doesn't mean I know every single friggin tiny detail about your Windows 7 when I only use XP Stop asking me how to change taskbars and window placements! I don't care if it's not in the specific millimeter placements you want! DEAL WITH IT DAMMIT!

:doc: :doc: :doc:

There were 3 options for "Feels like a sir", so I took advantage of 2 of them.
IU, you didn't get the one with text in it "feels like a sir" because there was only one female "sir" and it didn't have text.

NDI and CM only got the same cus the site only had one version

I posted you first because I thought it best not to boast myself by getting first credit.
Then I posted CM in hopes that me and NDI would share the same line and get a chuckle out of your response :169: (and Tom's )

Here were the options.
http://i.imgur.com/aicgX.gif

I vouched for the no text versions. and that first dude is not a "sir". he's altogether a different meme.

you got the first "sir" because you were credited first.

I got sensitive skin. If I don't do the dishes without rubber gloves, my hands get pruny faster than normal. And if I do dishes all day with everything I eat, they're bound to get ruined, cracked and bloody. At the rate I wash my hands.

I'm so sensitive to heat.
 I was cooking french fries when i was drinking with the family one night. Heard the dinger go off and just grabbed the sheet
 lost a bunch of fries that night. I was smart enough to run it under cold water right away for a few minutes.
 That burned too. the harsh coldness.

I always take a step back and let the heat ventilate before gloving that stove.

My one friend, who used to be a chef, everytime I'm at his place while he's cooking and I hear a "woah!' coming from the kitchen, I always ask if he forgot to take a step back before shoving his face in the oven  (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QliJVrIw5_0&feature=player_detailpage#t=20s)

:eye: I was being humble!

you know, there's a quote out there somewhere about a leader sayiing that leadership must be about equality on social levels rather than lingering over peers as if to dictate in some fascist prison.

Sun Tzu? Prime Minister during one of the WW's?

Someone out there knows what I'm talking about.

Civility in leadership is what keeps the workers happy and wanting to work more.
So IU gets first credit. Because he's a man.
Sorry ladies, since I'm using quotes from ye olde times about leadership, I felt it not right to give any woman first credit
:erm: hang on a tic...

lemme think that through...
