Loved everything between Virgo and Gentaro. I'd buy the figuart, but I'm not going to. That's a story for another day.
I didn't like them calling back to W. Overtime even translated it exactly as that. That just didn't feel right.
I like that Gentaro took the blame for the plot hole. I do. But, it doesn't change what they did. I scrolled through an entire JK tumblr last night. It's just not there, anymore. A big chunk of KRC has been soured for me.
Gentaro, you aren't Sasword. I'm willing to let Ryuusei slide on this because he's limited. He's just a limited rider. I don't think they're going to have a chance to fix that within the confines of the series itself. You can't just run around slashing. You have switches and you can use them in virtually limitless ways. I know they're establishing the threat of Sagittarius, but it's still ridiculous to enter battle that way. You can effectively use switches but make their effect limited to play up Gamou.

As great as Virgo was, I was still summarily disappointed. And, felt weird. I don't know why I changed my sig. Because it has the word fuckers in it :laugh:

If it was around the �10 spot 2nd hand I'd pick it up. I don't do multiplayer so it'll just be for the one player. Second one had multiplayer. Didn't use once. Ever. Played through the 1 player campaign 3 times though over a period of a few months.

Very likely. The story wasn't the appeal for me. The cinematic nature of it was fun. After the third play though it did feel like on-the-rails at times but it was still challenging in places.

I was okay with it in the first one, because the area he was exploring that first had them was very Silent Hill-ish. When they hit the exact same beats in the second I was like REALLY? REALLY.

I do prefer the second for the environments. But right now I'm trying to remember if one of them was in the first or the second :erm: :laugh:

They're good characters, and I like that they've picked up Indiana Jones' torch, but you'd think they could mix the stories up.

Loved everything between Virgo and Gentaro. I'd buy the figuart, but I'm not going to. That's a story for another day.
I didn't like them calling back to W. Overtime even translated it exactly as that. That just didn't feel right.
I like that Gentaro took the blame for the plot hole. I do. But, it doesn't change what they did. I scrolled through an entire JK tumblr last night. It's just not there, anymore. A big chunk of KRC has been soured for me.
Gentaro, you aren't Sasword. I'm willing to let Ryuusei slide on this because he's limited. He's just a limited rider. I don't think they're going to have a chance to fix that within the confines of the series itself. You can't just run around slashing. You have switches and you can use them in virtually limitless ways. I know they're establishing the threat of Sagittarius, but it's still ridiculous to enter battle that way. You can effectively use switches but make their effect limited to play up Gamou.

As great as Virgo was, I was still summarily disappointed. And, felt weird. I don't know why I changed my sig. Because it has the word fuckers in it :laugh:

I was writing a bunch of stuff in response and about halfway through my browser closed and my post was consumed. This always happens when I am writing long rants about tokusatsu ; ; but sometimes auto-save saves me. Oh well. Re-typing from memory, I guess.

I feel like it was so so close to being a great episode, because there was a lot of stuff here that really worked for me, and other stuff might have worked for me if they'd built up to it better. I don't think they really needed to do another story about Cosmic, but I can see how Gentaro realizing he doesn't need his friends fighting by his side, that he just needs to believe in the strength of their friendship, works as a continuation of what they've done so far. And it works great for the Virgo storyline, so really, I accept it completely. It's just that they needed a good way to get there, and what they did was a huge step back from what they'd done before. I think my con idea would have cheapened some of the Emoto stuff, so I don't wish they did that. Just something more than ~woo woo go away or I will kill you and/or your friends~ and these people, these people who have readily risked their lives to fight at Gentaro's side, saying "okay", without much thought.

The JK stuff is the most upsetting because they JUST DID a storyline where he chose to abandon Gentaro and the KRC, and to ignore that is like stomping on all his character development throughout the series. It's like they reset him to how he was near the start of the series just for plot convenience. As much as I enjoyed the stuff with just Kengo and Gentaro, I think it would have been great to keep JK around because there are some really interesting similarities between him and Emoto. They're wildly different, personality wise, but they both have that part in them, that part that is willing to toss friendship aside to get other things they want. It's something they have to struggle with. JK fought against that and ultimately won (until the writers ignored it, anyway), and Emoto lost to that part of him, but obviously continued to regret it for years. I would have loved to see that parallel onscreen, but even if they wanted it to get down to just Kengo, Gentaro, and Emoto, I feel like they could have at least acknowledged how far JK had come. Have him get confronted and make some speech about how once he would have ran away readily but now he knows his friendship is worth more than that, and have him get "sent to the dark nebula".

And poor Shun didn't get any effort put into his stuff at all. He felt like an afterthought. Even his moment of realization was just piggybacking onto Miu's. With Miu and Yuuki, I feel like they at least tried a little to make what they did believable, but they didn't do enough. Wouldn't have bothered me if they'd done right by the other characters, but since they didn't, it just adds to what was wrong with the episode. And I loved Gentaro's moment of realization, of him turning into Cosmic and his "friendship is my buddy" speech, but I kind of wanted to roll my eyes when everyone came back. They might as well not even come back at all until after they were safe, honestly. Just felt kind of meaningless.

Yeah, yeah, I feel like both of them are honestly smarter than that, and often fight much better than that. I can excuse it a little because honestly my focus was pretty much just on Sagittarius looking really cool, but scenes like that are never going to be as effective when you're not showing the characters at their best.

Emoto on the ground with the feathers raining was beautiful, as was his memorial on the moon. They really, really did right by his character, and I'm looking forward to rewatching stuff with Tachibana. All of this makes his reaction to Ryuusei killing Gentaro much more powerful, I think. They just didn't do right by most of the KRC. As Fourze as grown on me, one of the things I've realized is that the real theme of the show isn't space or American high school - it's friendship. It's Gentaro's source of strength, it's what makes all the characters their best, and it's how Cosmic works. It's the soul of the show. And when you don't do justice to the friendship of those characters, the show is going to feel hollow.

Attractiveness is hella subjective. Way more than people act like. I think a lot of people who are portrayed as ~super sexy~ are kinda fug and the people in my life I've been the most attracted to aren't conventionally hot at all.


This looks good. The Secret World - Launch Trailer - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=7yMIcKmsbzk) It's an MMORPG so it'll be boring as hell combat but it's built around the concept that the creatures from myths and folklore exist as real entities in the real world.

I know a couple people playing this and they are really really into it. Even doing a podcast about it. I can't handle an MMO right now but it looks neat.


Fatal Frame II is getting a Wii remake. I've never played the games. Always wanted to.

Most genuinely scary horror series by far, for me. There's a lot of subtle, hidden stuff to go with the big creepy moments, and that's the sort of stuff I respond to the most. When I'm all "wait did I see...no it's not there...but...", by the time something does jump out at me I'm pretty much ready to scream my head off.


I liked National Treasure. Sue me. Sometimes I'm sucker for stuff like that.

Valley Girl is my favorite in the rubbish section, I think. Used to swoon hard over Nic Cage in that movie, and he's not really a swoonworthy guy. :laugh:

I actually feel like most people, or at least a lot of people, don't pay attention to director names much at all. Or even if they do, they mix stuff up. I've seen tons of folks confuse Pixar with Dreamworks or Lucas with Spielberg. It's sort of like the big gulf between what's an obscure band on the internet and what's an obscure band in real life.

Oh I see the Pixar mix-up all the time.

Seriously. I got like 3 pairs of pants that have tears along the back thighs because after wearing steel toes for so long, I had to get used to runners.
So I ended up stepping on my pant leggings and running a line in the back.

I was going to patch them up, but thought about adding stuff like a zipper at the back. or maybe extra cloth and a zipper to make it wrap around the leg and zip up.
Make it a utility thing. Carry a flask. a knife :laugh: when cops ask me what the hell is going on, i'll tell them i had to creative in patching up my pants then call them art vandals and everyone will gasp at them.

I was writing a bunch of stuff in response and about halfway through my browser closed and my post was consumed. This always happens when I am writing long rants about tokusatsu ; ; but sometimes auto-save saves me. Oh well. Re-typing from memory, I guess.

I feel like it was so so close to being a great episode, because there was a lot of stuff here that really worked for me, and other stuff might have worked for me if they'd built up to it better. I don't think they really needed to do another story about Cosmic, but I can see how Gentaro realizing he doesn't need his friends fighting by his side, that he just needs to believe in the strength of their friendship, works as a continuation of what they've done so far. And it works great for the Virgo storyline, so really, I accept it completely. It's just that they needed a good way to get there, and what they did was a huge step back from what they'd done before. I think my con idea would have cheapened some of the Emoto stuff, so I don't wish they did that. Just something more than ~woo woo go away or I will kill you and/or your friends~ and these people, these people who have readily risked their lives to fight at Gentaro's side, saying "okay", without much thought.

The JK stuff is the most upsetting because they JUST DID a storyline where he chose to abandon Gentaro and the KRC, and to ignore that is like stomping on all his character development throughout the series. It's like they reset him to how he was near the start of the series just for plot convenience. As much as I enjoyed the stuff with just Kengo and Gentaro, I think it would have been great to keep JK around because there are some really interesting similarities between him and Emoto. They're wildly different, personality wise, but they both have that part in them, that part that is willing to toss friendship aside to get other things they want. It's something they have to struggle with. JK fought against that and ultimately won (until the writers ignored it, anyway), and Emoto lost to that part of him, but obviously continued to regret it for years. I would have loved to see that parallel onscreen, but even if they wanted it to get down to just Kengo, Gentaro, and Emoto, I feel like they could have at least acknowledged how far JK had come. Have him get confronted and make some speech about how once he would have ran away readily but now he knows his friendship is worth more than that, and have him get "sent to the dark nebula".

And poor Shun didn't get any effort put into his stuff at all. He felt like an afterthought. Even his moment of realization was just piggybacking onto Miu's. With Miu and Yuuki, I feel like they at least tried a little to make what they did believable, but they didn't do enough. Wouldn't have bothered me if they'd done right by the other characters, but since they didn't, it just adds to what was wrong with the episode. And I loved Gentaro's moment of realization, of him turning into Cosmic and his "friendship is my buddy" speech, but I kind of wanted to roll my eyes when everyone came back. They might as well not even come back at all until after they were safe, honestly. Just felt kind of meaningless.

Yeah, yeah, I feel like both of them are honestly smarter than that, and often fight much better than that. I can excuse it a little because honestly my focus was pretty much just on Sagittarius looking really cool, but scenes like that are never going to be as effective when you're not showing the characters at their best.

Emoto on the ground with the feathers raining was beautiful, as was his memorial on the moon. They really, really did right by his character, and I'm looking forward to rewatching stuff with Tachibana. All of this makes his reaction to Ryuusei killing Gentaro much more powerful, I think. They just didn't do right by most of the KRC. As Fourze as grown on me, one of the things I've realized is that the real theme of the show isn't space or American high school - it's friendship. It's Gentaro's source of strength, it's what makes all the characters their best, and it's how Cosmic works. It's the soul of the show. And when you don't do justice to the friendship of those characters, the show is going to feel hollow.

I kind of feel like the smaller moments they've had are outshining the big, deliberate ones, in a way. JK saying he's usually a coward and tearing up Aries script was magnificent. Kengo and Gentaro from the Magnet States arc. As compared to Gene and this episode, respectively. I know a LOT of the time JK was just goofing off in the Rabbit Hutch, but that in itself was speaking to how he'd changed. They showed us, instead of told us, most of the series. Still, it doesn't hurt nearly as much as Yuuki.

I was thinking about Goseiger and all they did wrong, but I kept thinking how most of that involved mecha and the fight scenes, not the characters. I don't feel like they betrayed the characters in any significant way. You're right. It's amazing how hollow Fourze can feel when you cross out the 'accomplishments' of the KRC. Makes me marvel at how selfless and forgiving and understanding Gentaro is, in the face of his friends. He feels like such a messiah figure and I want to slap around KRC and wish he had friends deserving of all he is.
