I didn't work cashier, officially. Applied for stocking and whatnot, and graveyard shifts. They wanted to give me cashier, they said they'd call me, never did. And I don't call back. I didn't want cashier. That taught them~

This one job, i was working in the back deboning chicken legs and stuff. one day there was no cashier, so everyone had to take turns dealing with customers.
it was my turn. i did it for a few weeks. it was fun. i liked it. lots of nice people because it was a really small business, independant that's been around for years. So they had their regulars a lot of the time. i even had a few guys looking at me. while i was looking at them. :awsm: unfortunately most of them were straight hanging out with the straight buddies, so when the pack realized one of their own had ventured off into the meat shop with no real interest, they'd peek their head in and tell their curious buddy "to remember the no sausage rule" :( fucksociety
it seems most straight guys that see me and show some (shy) interest, they always have someone around to spoil the potential fun. fucksociety.

this one time, this old man came into the meat shop. and the thing with old people in new westminster is that they often think a lot more than they talk. with that habit comes the nature of assuming everyone can see what you see when you point at it and knows what you're thinking. so this old guy wants one of those small little steaks. i go through them with the tongs and he's pointing and not saying what most other people say "3rd one from the front" (front being their side, like stage right/stage left~). I finally find the one he's talking about. he's so grumpy, i have to move the steaks out of the way to get to it and he starts yelling at me its the wrong one. so i raised my voice at him "I KNOW!"

Boss didn't like that. he's asian. he doesn't understand. he does. but he's a boss so he chooses not to understand.
i didnt get to work cashier when he was working. because he thinks customers can treat employees like shit.

so glad i quit that place. it was a nightmare.

it really adds to the onscreen action. everytime Chris Pine goes up an inch from pining Quinto, the lens flare shines through the one inch gap of separation.

I have a theory I plan to test though...

1) A virtual machine
2) portable version. nice.
3) Time modifications

1) has several options...
a) Create a fully functional VM on your puter. Either with Micro$oft or VMware. VMware is much more popular. i think a free version of it. a light version.
b) "sandbox" programs to create a temporary environment with no real modications to your system. either delete or save changes. Sandboxie is favorable. Toolwiz Time Freeze is pretty nice too. Sandboxie is shareware. free and good for the first month. or 3 months... :confused: full features. after that, you get a warning box that's all. just don't close it from the system tray unless you're totally done with it for the day. still free, but not fully operational. you only need the basics, anyway :rolleyes:

3) Programs that modify time or modify your system yourself (why on earth...:eye:)
a) "Run As Date" a free portable program to allow you to run practically any program with a specified date that you instruct. Nice.
b) install "DateCracker2000" and run that to run your program. You can create a cheat list of programs you want to use in a different date. not too bad.
c) Very specific trial reset programs. These are designed by hackers/crackers alike for a single line of products. The most notable one is for Slysoft products to reset the trial back to a full 30 days. or 15. or whatever :rolleyes: Sometimes these need to be updated themselves, so find out where the devs sleep and wait outside in their forum/site for any news/updates. actually pretty nice and handy.

Option 3 tends have a few errors, depending what version of the program you want to run and if the date program is outdated. You see, sometimes when the program is updated, there's a major update to the structure of the program that could affect the desired outcome. Really trial-and-error.

Option 2 has been very good so far. The only problem is finding the program in portable versions. And, of course, some of the resource heavy programs that depend on your video/audio cards may not be available in portable. Portable is desired for a simple audio/video conversion. rip a movie from any disc. system cleaning utility. document veiwer/editor/writer. There are tools to create your own portable apps for future use. But you really need to read up on what you're working with and make sure you set it up properly for absolute portable use.

Option 1 is typically overall the preferred. But not for everyone. Only when you've really gotten the hang of your VM, will you be able to setup another one quickly enough to test any new products or use it simply for trial programs. Complete VM's are preferrable. Sandboxie is great for keygens and other quick use programs you're not entirely sure about. Time Freeze is new, I still need to try it out a little more. The concept is that it halts the computer from any further system modifications until you decide to stop freezing time. I can't remember if you have a choice to save all the work done in this time-continuum paradox or selectively save modified work. I hope it's selective. But not too selective. It'd be a real pain to go through each registry value modified and other settings... blech. Total and complete virtualization is key. Just need patience.

That's sadly true. Fog is just one of those majestic elements that can never be fully reproduced in a fashion to retain its beauty and fascination.
Still shows up nicely enough to leave plenty of room for imagination.

Not that they haven't come at a cost. Seems Downpour has a lot more glitches in store for me, and they cut corners on monster design.

All the HD collections I've played have been good quality, so I'm expecting this to be the same.

I'm still worried about it. Considering it was pushed back just as much.

If I have to I'll play Downpour on easy. I'll be annoyed, but story (and atmosphere, in this case) above everything else, yada yada yada.

I'm not really sure starting over on easy is going to help, if it only makes the enemies weaker, which is what I'm assuming. I'll still have a paucity of weapons.

I just lost my flashlight and my gun, to a set-piece. I have a lighter and given that I found two, I'm going to assume that it will run out of fuel. I'm terrified of this, because Devil's Pit is darker than RE5 Mine Dark. This is not the kind of terrified you want to make the player. I'm not afraid of the monsters or the environment, I'm afraid of being unable to continue playing because I wouldn't be able to see anything.

The weapons are really few and far between at this point and the game makes it clear that you shouldn't fist-fight enemies. Problem being, I can't run away from the bigger enemy I'm stuck on, atm.

If you're going to have breakable weapons you need to have them ALL OVER, like in Origins. Also, you can't take away vital equipment in a set-piece. Travis had tons of weapons, literally tons. Further, if you somehow did run out, he was boxer-level efficient at fighting bare-handed all the normal enemies, save one. You could even deal with those if you had some health drinks to offset it.

Murphy shouldn't be this weak. He's not out of shape. James is more proficient than him, and that's just insanely sad.

Isn't Murphy serving a life sentence? I'm not looking it up, cause I'm sure his crime is very important.

He should probably be a pretty tough guy if he has served more than a few years.

Oh and about that dark area, cant you just turn up your game or TVs brightness? Its worked for me in MGS3, Fallout 3, and that part in RE5.

Flashlight moving around with your movement is fine, but seeing tiny glimpses of what's attacking is great for movies, not so much for games....

Have fun feeling incompetent. All of the untrained protagonists are more combat ready than Murphy.

It isn't even that I'm bitching about the combat being difficult. It was difficult in Homecoming and I had to seriously hunker down in an area and learn how to do it properly. I'm still trying to do that here, and it's inconsistent and frustrating. Seems like all I have to rely on is scarce break-able weapons, and a block mechanic that doesn't even work on the second enemy type. Oh, and the game working against me on the technical level, as noted.

Maybe the manual has more info and I'm missing something. Don't think I am. Although, Spoony says he couldn't melee anything in 3, and Heather actually swings like a fucking champ. We'll see.

I asked my friend who has Downpour, and he said to run/avoid combat when you can, and to do a lot of blocking when you have to fight. When you block, there'll be an opening when the monster stops attacking and you can attack.

I am perfectly okay with playing weaklings in survival horror games, but from a story perspective it seems like Murphy should be able to kick some ass. :sad:

House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, Postal, and Bloodrayne as compared to TF.
