I'm really, really liking this guy's work.
I can't quite place what it reminds me of.
Like The Iron Giant meets Edward Gorey meets Bruegel's THe Triumph Of Death.
It does have a bit of an Iron Giant vibe.
They're eerie, but there's still weird sort of sweetness to a lot of his pictures. I really like it.

I'm pretty sure the O-T crew is from /m/? There's a really bizarre amount of anti-Japanese sentiment there, which I don't understand given that every show they discuss there is from Japan. It's like they're so bothered by the idea of being a weeaboo that they want to pretend the shows they're watching aren't actually Japanese.
I think O-T's subs are generally great and I think some of their translations have been quite clever (Brotou), but I do think they go overboard with the translation on occasion.
There's another group that translated EVERYTHING to a ridiculous extent. Right down to translating names of stuff to the meanings of names. I have seen their subs parodied a lot, it is pretty hilarious. I think they're the only group that's subbed some sentai series, though, and it would probably suck if I wanted to watch them.
I've been watching a fair amount of hong kong subs lately just because I've been really interested in Showa stuff. They are surprisingly tolerable. I'm not sure if it's because I have a better understanding of Japanese or because they're actually not that bad.
It always sounded to me like Date was actually saying Brotou-chan? So, I've always chalked that up to him. Not them.
I want to know how many of those cunts have actually seen Goseiger. And, those who have, watched it all the way.
Youth is wasted on the young.
So are toys.
I feel like embracing the notion that Sentai is for a younger audience is what has let me enjoy Go-onger as much as I do. Definitely a different standard than I have for Rider.

Turns out almost everything is better off being irradiated and having no humans around.

I think it's a they could be dangerous but maybe not. Like if they haven't noticed you, you might not want to any unnecessary attention. Then again it might also be a good idea to find out what they're all about and junk.
Fight against the other sentai teams was incredibly strange and meaningless to watch. When Riders fight it’s because they have unique moral reasoning and are in situations that warrant it. This is why I love Rider vs Rider stuff. This was against empty suits and they were just slaughtered. This was the most abysmal part of the movie and it had me tapping my foot saying GET THIS OVER WITH.
The team up scenes weren’t BAD, but they weren’t very good. They didn’t shine with humor like Shinkenger vs Go-onger and they didn’t capture the feel good nature of Goseiger vs Shinkenger.
All the times that the Goseigers were fighting and outsmarting the Gokaigers were fine and they are probably the highlights of the movie for me.
The early cameos felt better than the series. Maybe because the Gokaigers weren’t around to make them have to say OKAY YOU FOUGHT FOR GOOD YOU CAN HAVE OUR POWERS. It let those few have their own scenes. That’s good stuff.
I could have sworn there were pics of Buredoran taking on one of the older villains’ visages. Super lame that they cut that out. He should have doublecrossed the star dude. Buredoran doesn’t go down that easily. Just another thing I’ll refuse to believe as canon *sigh*
The mech fight was a little better than the regular fights. Probably because there were less of them. They were just as overly effective, though.
This just isn't the kind of thing I'm looking for, and overall it was disappointing. I will never value flash over heart. I don't think I need to watch it again with subs. I knew exactly what was going on.

This fight scene is the most clusterfucked I have ever seen. I just don't think I'm ever going to like anniversary stuff like this. It's not cool to see people from 35 different teams flashed by at such a rapid rate. I don't feel any story significance. I don't have a reason to feel anything when they are just kicking all manner of ass and aren't getting their asses handed to them first.
This is the exact problem the show has. They're way too effective. They are just beating ass to beat it. No substance.
I don't even think it makes you look particularly badass when you can beat everyone that easily. It just makes them look like weaklings. There's a reason two episode arcs where the characters fail to beat the enemy in the first one are so common, and it's not just that it saves money on rubber monster suits. When you show the characters struggle, their eventual triump is more significant. True badassery is the penultimate episode of W.
I honestly do think the fight choreography in Gokaiger is fantastic. Everyone has their own unique style of fighting, it's visually interesting, and the way they fight together is really cool. If Gokaiger was just a movie or a short that aired at the end of normal sentai episodes it'd be fine- pure flash works in small doses- but it's not enough to carry a series.

I am expecting I'll be able to watch the finale without having watched past...episode 16, I think? Without missing much of anything. It's not a series that bothers with build up or emotional weight. I'll probably enjoy the finale more if I don't watch anything else and just take it as a mindless bit of flash.
The way Rob gets about things is very unusual. Sometimes I think he feels like he isn't allowed to like other things if he likes something else. I'll try Gobusters. I plan on giving all new sentai shows a 3-4 episode shot. I'll go beyond that if it seems awesome or if I hear really good things about it later. I like the name at least, even if I really dislike the designs.
The second to last episode of W honestly might be my favorite thing ever. Not that I don't love the last episode too, but it has some of the most powerful scenes I've ever seen. Shou's heroism there is just the ultimate, to me. Fighting when all seems impossible is true heroism, not playing around through an effortless fight.

Yeah, I told him to only get the helmet through the guy he's looking at because I think he could do a let better price wise getting the costume piece by piece. It might take some hunting but I see decent quality suits for cheaper than that on eBay all the time.
I would love to get a cosplay like that. Helmets would be especially awesome if only because of the level of anonymity they'd provide. It would be very interesting. For reasons I can't begin to explain I kind of want to cosplay as Psyga. Not happening anytime soon, though.

It'd actually be really good practice for writing spec scripts, I think! Trying to find a tv show or movie I know throughly enough to script that hasn't been done before. I watch too many cartoons. XD I have accounts at some freelancing sites that they're saying occasionally request scripts. It looks like the best way to pitch a written script is to contact directors and producers directly.

In the scripts they just write that there's a sex scene, the characters that are in it, and the number it is. I assume someone must plan it out. I'd guess it's the director? The actors might have some say in it too.
The process is probably pretty different if you're doing "HOT BLONDE GOES DOUBLE DIPPING" versus "Community: An XXX Parody".

The general reaction to Gokaiger has taught me that many people are just not looking for the same thing I am in a toku show. They're missing out, though!
I'm fine with sticking with stuff as long as I know it gets good later on. What I saw of Go-onger was pretty alright! It just felt a lot like a kid's show from the 90's. I kind of feel like nostalgia-ing, so maybe it's a good idea.

If that's the kind of girl you're into I guess that's just your choice in the matter. I'd rather have someone nice like Shakira suck my fat schlong.
Near the beginning, they were switching between really doing well linking arcs and then having some stuff only last one episode. Those fell a bit flat, but once it got nearer to the middle they seemed to get it down and had some really great single episodes. Then from G12 onward they nailed it for my money.
The G12 episodes reminded me so much of W 48. Then they did the impossible and made arm swaps into legitimate story telling while keeping G12 out of it for a very long time. They probably did the best I've seen in terms of coping with the marketing cycle, other than Shinkenger. In some ways, I think they actually surpassed them.
Then Not-Retsutaka. Plus, G3 Princess, Hidenori singing, G5 Prince.
And the villains.... I love those 3.

It'd actually be really good practice for writing spec scripts, I think! Trying to find a tv show or movie I know throughly enough to script that hasn't been done before. I watch too many cartoons. XD I have accounts at some freelancing sites that they're saying occasionally request scripts. It looks like the best way to pitch a written script is to contact directors and producers directly.
Maybe you could do a rider one? You wouldn't even need to do a direct spoof but a series homage that has your favorite elements and character archetypes in it plus you get to touch the weirder side if so wished with the monsters.

I want them to be bruised and beaten but get back up because people still need to be protected and they're going to be the ones to do it.
Toku doesn't always succeed in this, but it pulls it off like nothing else with the shows that get it right.

Saturday night I had the weirdest experience.
So the morning and afternoon was super hectic with an art show at a museum and a bunch of shopping before it opened along with having to go back before 2:30 to get someone to a party.
I stumbled across a movie with Joan Cusack, Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, Brendan Fraser, the lady form Darma & Greg, & Robby the Robot and Joan Cusack was Brendan Fraser's mother but aliens attacked their base. These just weren't random aliens but the monster robot form Robot Monster, the Man form Planet X, a triffid form Day of the Triffids, the Fiend Without a Face monsters, the monsters form This Island Earth, Marvin the Martian, a Dalek, & Kevin McCarthy was running around with a body snatching pod.
I was called to the phone but when I got back Steve Martin had a cartoon Peter Lorre torture Timothy Dalton with a calendar that made him punch himself and then Steve Martin released Taz to kill everyone who didn't die by space monster but Ron Pearlman who had a wispy, nerdy, wimpy voice objected to this so Taz skeletonized him and his bones retracked his objection.
later that night I watched a Tori Amos dvd that I scored for $1 at B&N and fell asleep during a bit of it so I'm unsure if it was real or not.
Also Goldberg was there.

I wrote Sailor Moon, Newsies, and Final Fantasy fiction. I think that's everything, but I'm probably missing something. I also wrote a novelization of Final Fantasy VI for which I copied the entire game script down by hand. I had to do something when I couldn't spend hours on the internet!
I was big into self insertion characters with Newsies, but this was never an issue with Sailor Moon. This is mostly because I already considered myself to be Sailor Moon, and some of my friends to be various Sailor Scouts. And I wanted to ~find my Mamoru~. Similarly, I really related to Terra soI didn't feel like I had to put someone else in there.
I made myself Jack Kelly's self-proclaimed sister. All I wanted was for Senor Bale to be my buddy~
If I was at a con I would probably be the person who is really quiet but somehow keeps getting approached by strange people. This seems to be my walk in life.

While he was pleased with his post, he couldn't shake the sense that something was missing. After what seemed like an eternity, he left clicked and waited for his post to load. From this point on, all he could do was wait. He hit F5 anxiously, hoping for a response, but each attempt brought him nothing.
This is really fascinating to me for some reason.

While he was pleased with his post, he couldn't shake the sense that something was missing. After what seemed like an eternity, he left clicked and waited for his post to load. From this point on, all he could do was wait. He hit F5 anxiously, hoping for a response, but each attempt brought him nothing.
