I have found that it's harder to get good sleep when I have things to do or know I need to get up. But I'm a very poor sleeper in general. I have to be exhausted to fall asleep, and I wake up really easily. I don't need an alarm clock, just to give you an idea of how light a sleep I am. If I know I need to be up at 7, I will wake up at 5:30 and keep waking up at checking the clock every 10 minutes from there.

That happens to me sometimes. I try to get me tired myself so I can have a good night of sleep. Usually try to read or study my hobbies thing.

I love it when you are reading a scary story and some crazy noise happens right when you're at a really creepy part! Even when it's daylight, just helps you get really into the story.

I took a break from my book and have been reading Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill, because I really wanted to read an actual book on my Kindle. I'll review it tonight. Maybe YSH too, I've been putting it off to do the Harry Potter stuff but I think I'll just skip that and focus on the movie and the groundbreaking work Pixar did.

Pretty much all I do all day is sleep. Sleep, masturbate, eat, shit, cry (in that order). Basic human functions.

I'm not even kidding. I haven't even watched any movies these past few days. I hardly ever read anymore. I'm not even motivated enough to start a new video game (because I hate not finishing what I start). My bedroom is quiet, I don't even have any music playing.

Damn right. If some asshat told me I wouldn't be seeing the inside of my house for 13 hours I'll tell him to enjoy my foot in his ass. Maybe it's because Britain made slaves of half of India that now they hide that shame with a staunch working law, I dunno. Don't you guys have unions?

... I don't even have any music playing.

I have music all the time. I need it, without it I get irritable.

If there is no music it means I'm doing some of the other things you mentioned, game or film.

Is it possible for you to get away at all? I don't even mean moving or a vacation, just crash with someone for a few days or go on a long drive or something like that. I've found that when I get like that a change of scenery is the only thing that helps with that. Being able to enjoy things every now and then, that is.

Thank you for giving me more questions than answers.

Did you mean the article or what I mentioned about the person I knew? I assume that Disney knows exactly what happened and is covering it up for some reason. I hope the article gets enough attention to bring the truth to light.

Re: the person I knew, working on a cruise ship just sounded...you know how working in retail can somehow seem cult-like, with the script they want you to follow, and the sort of different language you're supposed to use? Like that, but all the time, since you're almost always there.

Damn right. If some asshat told me I wouldn't be seeing the inside of my house for 13 hours I'll tell him to enjoy my foot in his ass. Maybe it's because Britain made slaves of half of India that now they hide that shame with a staunch working law, I dunno. Don't you guys have unions?

It's very hard to form a union in the US. Talking about one can get you fired, and there are also many people who have a poor opinion in unions in general.

In Mass we do have laws that would prevent you from working shifts without 8 or 9 hours between, but New England tends to be much more liberal than the rest of America. I know I did crazy hours like that when I lived in Michigan. Especially when I was a waitress. I'd work 7am-3pm, would come back and work 9pm-5am.

I had no idea. That seems so very wrong to me because it's the opposite of what I've experienced. That leaves the door open for people to be exploited without any recourse. Plus, if you're overworked with not enough sleep you can make mistakes, people can get hurt and worse case someone dies (medical profession).

I'd work 7am-3pm, would come back and work 9pm-5am.

I have music all the time. I need it, without it I get irritable.

I've started listening to Christmas parodies. Tears are coming out. Right now the tone is so off on the STS X-mas album, but I'll try to fit in as many funny songs as I can. I'll make it work somehow.

You can ditch mine if it's not fitting, I don't mind. I couldn't find a mp3 of the one I wanted, I guess I could've ripped it from the film.

The only genuinely funny and equally awesome Christmas tune I own was used on last years.

Not that I'm the picture of happiness now, but during this summer, when I was especially miserable, I'd just leave my apartment and walk around all day. I explored the cemetery. I figured out how to walk to certain places. One day I spent probably 3 hours basically walking in a circle. But it really did help, getting away from a place where I was comfortably uncomfortable. I guess it broke me out of the patterns of thought I was in, if that makes sense?

I can come up with an alternate tune, if you like! I can't imagine my submission is easy to work around.

Actually, I really love the one you chose. I never heard it before, it was kind of uplifting and transporting (if that makes any sense). I love all your guys' submissions so far, it's a real nice hodgepodge of different styles and genres. Not sure how it'll reconcile itself, but I'm really digging it so far. It's uniquely STS.

Just curious, which was the other one you wanted?

I'm not really in the best town for that...I don't know of any cool "hidden away" places to visit. That's the problem with the big city. I could visit the cemetery, but somehow that just seems...creepy? And depressing. It looks cool when you see someone doing it in the movies, but somehow I think I'd still feel out of place amongst the dead. :-P

I do too. Some of them are wrinkled and have pen scribbles on them too, it gives the images a sense of history. And I just like that connection to the past. These are people who I mostly only have faint memories of- my great grandpa died when I was around 6, and my great-grandma had a stroke shortly after. She lived till I was 15 or 16, I think, but she wasn't ever the person she was again.

Nice. Did you return it and take advantage of one of those buy-1-get-1-free deals?

I saw on Black Friday it was going for $29.99. :notgood: Damn my impatience. I bought one copy for me to play and the Collector's Edition (which I kept in the box) in the off-chance that it might one day be worth more than I paid for it. I'm not sure if there's any other game I would have done that for.

I don't care about online so won't need to pay the toll. Did they include that or am I dreaming?

Multiplayer is actually pretty damn fun. Gives it more replay value. I'm not even talking about the competitive stages, there's a whole co-op adventure with an original storyline and all. If you can find at least one other person to play with you, it's worth it.

That reminds me...I could add you guys to my PSN list...

American history tends to be very boring in American schools because they sanitize it so much. It was a big shock discovering all the stuff I'd never been taught. Sure there's plenty of nasty stuff I still don't know.

Two of my great uncles. Or maybe great-great uncles? My great-grandfather's brothers. Just really like the photo.

American history sucks. World history has always been much more engaging, for my money.this. growing up in the south, seems like all they taught was jamestown and the civil war, or as we called it in the south, the "war between the states" hurrrr.

Found it in the wilds of the net. Took it back, back when we were talking about it.

I used to buy special editions of lots of things. I have all the versions of Toxicity. Ugh (at owning so many of the same thing with no real differences, not the album itself). I don't really do that now. In very general, I can get a regular dvd of something for $5 Regular album for $9. I think it was the special edition of the self-titled Say Anything that was the nail in the coffin. That's one of my favorite albums of all time but it was like $90 for BULLSHIT extras. Severe bullshit.

I think there's a big degree of pompousness and self-righteousness about American history and America in general. It might be that way in some other countries, too, though. So, I'll stick with:

People who place orders for shit to arrive on someone's birthday is just asking for it.
The UPS-gnomes (cousins to the single-sock-gnomes and the everything-in-the-couch-gnomes) knows what to do.

That woman should've placed her order WAY earlier than her female brain calculates.
(insert "spacial reasoning" scientific fact here)

BIRTHDAYS:

I just sent a gift for the first time. I don't care when it arrives. She doesn't either. She asked if she can have it for her birfday.
It's one of those plushie diseases: kissing disease, heart disease, the flu, herpes, etc.
She was happy enough knowing the order went through.
DOING IT RIGHT!

I've ordered stuff for people's birthday and not had it come in time. It happens, especially if it's something that's hard to get. I just tell them and give them the present when it gets there, no big deal. I wouldn't do it for a little kid's birthday unless I had another gift but I don't think most people care that much about getting presents on their actual birthday once they're past a certain age.

I really like just walking. It's gotten harder now that it's winter with most of the parks half closed and none of the rest rooms open (there's no hot water so the pipes would freeze) and once there's a ton of snow my territory is cut in half. Sometimes I just go down seldom used streets. I've been in this area forever and I still don't know half the streets since I never used any of them. Going around is kinda hard with train tracks on one side and the highway on the other I only have 2 directions to tread. Wish I was healthier since I can't always go very far sometimes and others I go over 5 miles easy.

Maybe Bud could do something like picture taking or birding or graffiti or just stare into people's homes and watch their TV without them knowing.

The co-op was pretty bad.

It was like a rampage but if you split up the camera zoomed out and you could only go so far before hitting invisible walls.

What? But one of the whole reasons you'd want co-op was so that you would watch each other's backs and face different directions. Stupid game just spawning guys anywere it wants even when they shouldn't be there. Dozens of great sniper spots and ideal places to hold up against even the largest onslaught that were ruined because cops just popped up behind you when you're watching the only entrance.

I saw a guy I know (well, used to know, I haven't seen him in like 4 years), and about half his profile was him lecturing people about how they should or shouldn't comment/send messages and things like that. Part of it was bitching about girls who look at his profile and then never sent a message and it was all kind of sad and strange and funny. He's not the nicest of guys but I really don't think he's self-aware enough to get how he's coming across.

I remember back in the 90's there were always advertisements for those phone dating services that you had to be 21 or older to use. I bet there were some entertaining messages to be listened to there. It all seems so awkward and inconvenient but that's dating in general, I suppose. :foreveralone:

I don't even care about the actual birthday any more. I still got stupid drunk but I'd do that without an excuse.

Yup. It wasn't good. It's was never hailed as a co-op game as such, that part was just a minor inclusion.

For Doc. Others can look too but it's Eva related just not sexy.

I guess it's partly that I never thought much about it and partly that I never considered it was cicadas because I think of them as sounding different. It is in just about everything, I notice it all the time now.

They call those cicadas kanakana too (something I also learned from Higurashi), I love onomatopoeia in other languages.

Sadly I did not learn much about seagulls from Umineko. XD Though I learned a lot about classic mystery novelists. I wonder what creature ryukishi07 wiill use for his next game. I know he's technically putting out a game right now (plus doing some work for Key), I'm just talking about the When They Cry series.

Haha ^^ It's hard for me to speculate because I don't know what animal sounds are described with the word "na". I guess wolves are, because that's the idea most people seem to be throwing around. I'm not sure if the next game will be announced at this month's Comiket or not.

I just really like ryukishi07 because he writes the sort of mysteries I enjoy trying to solve. I love mysteries but tend to dislike most mystery stuff out there, if that makes sense.

I have this way of talking about everything optimistically or trying to put a positive spin on everything I say. It's often not how I actually feel, it's just trying to to focus on the positive is such a core part of my personality. One that will apparently never be stamped out of me. ;)

What a bunch of hogwash.

You're like the perfect woman. Any one of us would be the luckiest guy in the world to get someone like you. Tom is practically pissing himself right now with the possibilities.

You don't understand. You're a girl. On top of that, you're a pretty, skinny, intelligent, funny girl with loads of cool interests and you could get ANYONE you ever wanted were it not for the fact that you are totally content being alone and doing your own thing. And I get that. If I were you, I would think that no guy would be good enough for me either.

Someone like you could never be interested in someone like me simply because you have your pick of the litter, and there are 10 million more qualified applicants in front of me. Same reason I could never get a job. Mediocrity.

So I settle for less.

And still nothing.

And then I give up.

I love yellow and red together. Very superhero-y. Yellow backgrounds are supposed to be one of the worst for comics, books, and magazines, I guess they tend to sell poorly? I really like them, though.

Brownies in the oven! They're very dark chocolate-y. Made them with brown sugar instead of white sugar and unsweetened cocoa so they're not too sweet. The only thing I could think of to make them interesting was marshmallows and I didn't feel like eating them for the sake of being interesting. I could make a chocolate or peanut butter frosting to go over them, I guess.
