Sadly, these people don't actually know me, yet think they do, and make very rude comments based on a comment i made that they didn't actually read fully.

Nobody said anything about you until went off on a rant about how this thread was an "abomination" and blamed people who chose to post somewhere else for the state of a forum that you run. Usually when you verbally attack someone they will respond defensively. And the first response from JonC was a sincere and polite attempt to reason with you, which you responded to with sarcasm. Very pro coming from an admin.

There is no way in hell that STS can be accused of having "destroyed" this forum. It died because people started leaving, and when enough people left this thread was the only place left where there was discussion because the rest of the forum had been gobbled up by people who think amaury is a good poster. Eventually the people in this thread got tired of some of the things that had to be dealt with here and decided since this was the only place left worth talking in anyway that they might as well go somewhere they didn't have to.

The ironic thing is that I never posted in this thread. I post over there now because it's the closest thing there is to what I always wanted of this place, which was to detach itself from all the traffic and become a place just devoted to the regulars hanging out. I wanted that years ago, and now I have it. I wish that it had happened when everybody was still here, but I'll take what I can get.

That said, I'm still here. It's just that most of the time there is nothing to post about except the equivalent of THANKS FOR MAKING A THREAD ABOUT IT or pointing out what a slavering moron rokusho is. I don't think I'll ever stop dropping by here. Too much nostalgia. But I don't know what I'm going to actually do when I visit.

Even though i didn't post in here, i still felt it was what made this section alive and i was very sad to see it go.

And as for me not being a pro admin, i admit i'm not perfect and let my emotions get the better of me sometime, but i'm sure you have done so when you were admin here too, nobodies perfect. I also do a lot of other things here too that you don't see and might not have had to deal with while you were an admin, so there are added frustrations when having to deal with the film music stuff, like what can and can't be posted, links needing removal, and the odd person saying they're gonna sue me or the forum if i don't remove music and whatnot. All the reported posts that get made, i do be the main person that deals with all them, maybe it's just because i'm around more than everyone else and respond to them first.

So just to sum things up, i have nothing against the people that posted in this thread, i'm just very sad that they decided to leave when the forum was down and never came back, especially because they are what kept this section alive. I'm not gone. And I don't think I have ever criticized your moderating decisions. I think this thread got as big as it did is due to the general free form flow of it. One could pop in and say hi, and just fool around. There could, and often were, several conversations going on at once, and not much was dealt with very seriously. There is nothing else like it on the forum, safe for work or not. I have two different discussion threads. Neither attracts much attention. A lot of members read posts, but do not post themselves. The humor used by the STS crew never failed to make me smile at times when I needed one. My last few posts were just attempts to keep that alive. I understand where you're coming from and that's all fair. Emotions probably just ran a bit hot on both ends here. It happens from time to time.

Yeah, I thought something was off about the whole thing. Anyway, we can look at it like this: December 21, 2012 came already and the rapture happened. The 'STS giants (regulars)' were taken away to STS Heaven, and this is what is left behind. We can all pull together to recreate this section of the forum, but it is unlikely it will ever be the same. Also, the regulars can always come back here and hang out, but they have moved on to what they feel like is a better place.

After I joined, and up until fairly recently, there were several threads in GD in which members posted regularly. It wasn't until a few months back when we were getting constant database errors that I noticed a huge decline in posting in GD.

I unlocked the thread, apologised to the JonC for what i said, here and in pm and i unbanned N-12 Aden earlier to try and set things straight. He wasn't banned for disagreeing with me anyway, it was what he called me that got him banned. Plus i also posted a new message explaining things a bit.

It is vital that people read everything, i myself didn't re-read what JonC posted and overreacted, which is probably what caused this mess.

okay. i apologize for stirring up any old drama.

i skimmed the last couple of pages and indeed i missed your message.

just so you know,
the reason we made a new forum was because the future of shrine was uncertain. we are all friends and wanted a place to chat in case shrine ceased to exist. i think we created it to serve more as a backup board for people from shrine GD, and it's still open to anyone, but we never intended to steal away shriners or compete with ffshrine. but once we had it going, i guess we just got comfortable there.

some of us haven't "left"

in fact, some of us still check in occasionally. i'm here almost everyday, sometimes dropping a line with people in william's trek thread or takehiro's bond thread.

it makes me sad to see this forum so vacant. i joined rather late, but even then, GD was very busy compared to what it is now.

i know sarah probably has no interest in discussing this with me, but i'd love to offer suggestions on how we could revamp this forum. i would love to see more people here (not just to download music). the problem is that so many original shriners left, long before the sts crowd did. you may never get all of those old schoolers back, but it's worth trying to attract new blood, and i'm not talking about more score downloading folk whose posts are limited to "thanks" or "PM download links plz" or "u have this in FLAC?"

Could ask your doctor if it would be something that would get you out of jury duty. Mine wrote me a letter to go with the form i got to fill out for the jury duty.

I apologize if I was the source of any additional drama. There is a fine line between earnestness and sarcasm, and my post was clear enough in the distinction.

Gaylove choices suck. And playing as femshep is kind of giving me an insight onto how females are represented as protagonists. The game is written primarily for a male antagonist, but letting femshep punch out a raving madman in the first area is so satisfying and just feels right.
