Sets are pretty. Very... I don't know the word to describe the aesthetics. It's looks like origami a lot.
Typical revenge plot even though that isn't clear in the beginning.
At least the actors aren't phoning it in like most would given the weirdness they are in.
Choreography needed some work in some of the fights as you could still see some rough takes and hesitation though there was still a bit of imagination to them. One in particular that happened on a trampoline was quite nice.
There might be something to like for some, but to me it committed the cardinal sin in that boring is worse than bad. When it managed to catch my attention it would usually lose it again within 10 minutes. Happened over and over.
And the explanation for why there is no guns was totally unnecessary. It tried to plug in some crap about the many ways man can kill, but then is quickly forgotten 1 minute after when a bunch of gang members are murdered in the streets. Only thing that comes out of it is a nice line about a cowboy with no gun and a samurai with no sword.
I'd say try and watch out of mere curiosity like I did, but I don't see it passing the 20 minute test for both you and Doc.

Problem is that 3 has the shittiest SFX i've seen since Alien Apocalypse. And these were more or less done on purpose. THe Scenario is inept, most actors made me cringe each time they opened their mouth and the Sky Marshall...gaaaahhhh. At least, on a scenaristic level and acting capacity, 2 was marginally better. Enough to get a 11/2 bug up your ass out of 5.

Style over substance.
Sets are pretty. Very... I don't know the word to describe the aesthetics. It's looks like origami a lot.
Typical revenge plot even though that isn't clear in the beginning.
At least the actors aren't phoning it in like most would given the weirdness they are in.
Choreography needed some work in some of the fights as you could still see some rough takes and hesitation though there was still a bit of imagination to them. One in particular that happened on a trampoline was quite nice.
There might be something to like for some, but to me it committed the cardinal sin in that boring is worse than bad. When it managed to catch my attention it would usually lose it again within 10 minutes. Happened over and over.
And the explanation for why there is no guns was totally unnecessary. It tried to plug in some crap about the many ways man can kill, but then is quickly forgotten 1 minute after when a bunch of gang members are murdered in the streets. Only thing that comes out of it is a nice line about a cowboy with no gun and a samurai with no sword.
I'd say try and watch out of mere curiosity like I did, but I don't see it passing the 20 minute test for both you and Doc.

It did seem a lot like origami. Or much like a pop-up book. IU knows what I mean.
It's largely set against a narrative who only sees the characters from a distance. IU knows what I mean.
Everything you see or hear about the characters isn't that drawn out to make them extraordinary heroes.
More or less just two guys teaming up to kick everyone's ass in their way :laugh:
A lot of the acting and fighting looks more like stage theater. Some of the gangs remind me of circus junior troupes gone evil.
It gives the action and fighting a very different tone. Except for the sword fighting. Gackt, Killer #1 and a few other samurai characters look fine.
Since they know how to fight with a sword. The samurai characters get a lot of good Samurai Fiction nods.
I like a lot of the scenery and just the overall tone of the cinematography for a lot of the characters.
It's got a lot of the uncanny ways of presenting characters much like in the style of Kung-Pow... :erm: The one before that. It was parodied as Kung-Pow Chicken or whatever... had the Buddhist Palm attack as the Limit Break move. Took a few scenes from Matrix Revolutions with everyone floating in the skies. Hatchet Gang. The two brothers with the guqin as a weapon...

Yeah, I don't even remember the whole thing about guns. It was just poetic how they said it: "And just as the sword gave way to the gun, the gun gave way to the sword". Neat.
It tends to use repetition as a creative tool. Say it one way, then say it again a different way. Then say it again in terms of a different context.
I do that when I'm writing. Except not extensively as the movie :laugh: Usually just a small sentence.

I want to get it on BD, make a copy and convert it to 3D and then mail it to IU since he loved it so much. :P

I'd say Cuckoo would give it a modest 2.
Doc would give it a fun 3.5.

Woody Harrelson and Demi Moore are really great in that movie. Ron Perlman is okay. I've seen him do better. (Hellboy)

Bastion looks to have the same engine as Legend of Mana and Ragnarok Online. The characters are very rounded.
Not like comics. Not like manga. Something in between... The action graphics look like revamped versions though.

I loved playing Legend of Mana. Could never finish it though. Have the strategy guide and all. (Had too much fun with the garden and other stuff :laugh:)

I'm surprised there were no scenes were it shows people talking about guns or trying to run a black market on guns.
Just that one time where they ask if "Got anything else of value? Diamonds? Drugs? Bullets?" I could see them using really old vintage guns. Pre-20th century guns. Restored and collected. Replicas made and fitted something Japanesey. Legends of a gunman spread the lands and is rarely seen. A man so dangerous and crafty with the gun, he's seen as the Samurai Pistoleer~ The Prince of P-Piss---Prince of Pistoleers.
Who has no interest in the Red Suites or The Woodcutter. Or any sort of fame or fortune. Just a lone gunman wondering the world for something he lost; yet he never finds, never reveals what it is. A man's whose sole purpose is to look after himself and that of his interest. And as far as he is interested, is only himself.
Who is only talked about for 5 minutes and gets 3 minutes of on-screen time. Total 8 minutes of gunning legend and myth.

Terence Blanchard never got a release of this score. Some really nice parts in it. Particularly the Japanese pieces used in Gackt's scenes.

Reading up on it, I can see where the creator was very passionate and it gives it less of a junk feel and more of a failed experiment feel, but in a good way.

I think Walt's transformation and what Jessie did at the end of S3 had A LOT to do with the overall tone of S4.

I couldn't tell if Skylar was surprised or offended when a surprisingly not dead Ted insinuated she would send killers after him and his family. I know she already sent dudes to collect the check, but he just couldn't know they are rather hamhanded. It kind of killed the funny for me that he survived. At least I tripped and fell works with that rug.
Walt should probably make it clear that he does everything for family (or did, who knows now) to ease her discomfort. That can only end badly

True. It used to work when they were on equal footing, but that hasn't been true since season 1 when Walt even flat out asked what Jesse was bringing to the table. He was distribution for awhile, but that of course didn't last long either. Combo never saw it coming. Pour one out.

Just a little. I'm very resilient to bad odors. it's not that I'm immune to bad odors (weirdly, some seafood cooking will make me throw up while a huge pile of rotting poop won't. :itsamystery:), but it takes a lot to make me sick. And I have a pretty good sense of smell, so it's a real mystery.

In other words, if you want to be sure to make me throw up, lock me in a room with cooking seafood (mussels are the worst) or cooking tripes. otherwise...nothing. I won't throw up because of a bad smell.

Skunks are pretty common here.

They're just as bad as raccoons, rats or alley cats here.

Gotta watch out stumbling home drunk and not accidentally corner it. :laugh:

Before Blitz I had only seen Aidan Gillen play a nice guy in The Wire, so his lowlife "shithead" performance was a pleasant surprise.

Blitz, 13, Lock Stock, Snatch, Crank 2 and The Transporter are my fave Statham films.

That's why I only gave it a 3.5, I think.

...to be fair....some of my favorite films of all time I think I might only award a 2.5. :laugh:

Very enjoyable though and I guess if they had been decent cops then they wouldn't of been able to have that rather subversive ending which was pretty cool, but would have been better getting there without plot holes. :laugh:
