1080i. They didn't encode as interlaced. I think they meant to but just ended up using interlaced material and encoded it as progressive.
the framerate looks abnormal.
whenever something moves, it's slightly blurred and you can see jagged edges along the outline of shapes.
and the color timing was off. it was too bright and a little too much on the yellow side.
More so than it was intended to be.

My BD machine has 1080i default output if I'm using the Component cables. (1080p if I'm using an HDMI).
My tv only has 1080i resolution. I think it's off by one manufacturing year to have had 1080p. It has HDMI input, but for some reason it doesn't like the BD machine. it changes from dark to bright. from laptop to tv with HDMI is perfect though. :itsamystery:

I tried all sorts of settings. the encoding is just screwed.

I don't know about Dream Machine. From what I had read around the time he retired from the production, he was apologizing for not being able to complete it, wanting to spend his last four months with his family. (It turned out to be less than two.) They seemed to have the script and the design down, so all Kon needed to do was keep an eye on it for tweaks. The production team vowed to finish it, but it's been a long time. I'm pretty sure if they could finish it, (assuming they follow his notes,) it would still clearly be his work. I suspect the downturn dried up funding, so we may have to wait until the economy improves enough for somebody to finish it. Personally I think Darren Aronofsky and Christopher Nolan should fund it out of their own pockets, put that's just me.

Pretty certain you're correct. Last I'd heard there were funding issues, though they could have been resolved. I'm honestly surprised no one stepped in to fund it right away. I feel like Satoshi Kon's last film is a really huge deal, you'd think there's be all sorts of wealthy people who would want to make sure it gets released.

I have to imagine he was pretty much just the right person at the right time for the show, and the fans. I personally really disliked Jason at the time and was ecstatic to see Tommy replace him first in a mech formation, and then officially as the leader. Obviously that didn't happen in Zyu, Dai, or Kakuranger. Burai dies, Kou was a kid, and Tsuruhime, while technically the leader, was a woman and they only used her suit footage for the Alien rangers saga.

He stuck around through Zeo (Oh) into Turbo (Carranger) and came back in Dino Thunder (Abaranger) as a wisened professor figure who ended up being part of the team, as well.

I would not be surprised in the SLIGHTEST if they got him in on Mega Force action since it seems like they're combining Goseiger and Gokaiger somehow. He pretty much IS Power Rangers to some people. Me included, since I still strangely have some warm and fuzzies for the guy.

He was LIGHTYEARS better than the tools they've had for the longest time. He can mop the floor with Jayden. He can actually sell the shit.

For some reasons, I've always found History text book were more efficient. Larger books, easier to handle, give you a better grasp of the thing so you can give that bookpunch more power. That and it allowed me to say afterward that the prick had been "knocked out by the sheer weight of history."

STS, a question. Is there any book/comic/game etc that you would really like to see adapted to another medium? Just something I've been thinking about a lot as I try and fall asleep, lately.

I want to see BKV's Y: The Last Man turned into a TV series.
Barker's The Thief Of Always turned into a stop-motion film.
Spidey's Kraven's Last Hunt get a decent film adaptation that won't hold back on the intensity the story holds.
Knauf's Carnivale get a graphic novel.
BioShock get a movie...only if it can promise on the goods being good. 'Cuz it can easily go to shit if not handled correctly.
Jamie Smart's Bear get a animated TV series.

...the list is endless actually. I'll stop there and keep what little dignity I have to spare. :laugh:

I'd like to see a good adaptation of "the Case of Charles Dexter Ward". one that puts the general creepyness of the novel on the foreground, not another "horror" movie. I want the screenwriters to readu the fucking book before they start ! :mad:. Hell, if Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde can be done and well done, there's no reason this one can't.

As for a game...

hell. let's get out the big guns. I'd like to see Necromunda, a relatively old Games WOrkshop game be adapted. preferably as a TV show, or a cartoon/anime. that or Shadowrun (as a movie). FOr Videogames, I'd like to see a film adaptation of Lufia II.

And finally, as far as comics are concerned, the only thing I'd like to see faithfully adapted would be "Savage swords of Conan". again, as a cartoon, but an adult oriented one.

They made $1.5 billion off of The Avengers.

The Mouse made off pretty nicely with that deal.

...and they still haven't released that Avengers box set all the kids have been talking about.

That seems a small sum to pay for Marvel. Did they take on a lot of debt as well?

They'll haul in another few hundred million from dvd and blu sales in a few weeks time.

When Disney first purchased it, I believe there was a lot of controversy over the price.

They said it was ridiculously high and Disney's shares even plummeted.
