D&D. Big screen. Comedians tearing it a new asshole. And copious amounts of booze.

that's an interesting concept. D&D (and Mutant Chronicles) are both reminders of why tabletop RPGs should not be made into movies. I especially don't want to see a shitty movie titled "Shadowrun". Note that some games have nothing to fear. Who would adapt games like "GURPS", "TORG", "Bunnies and Burrows". I think the RPG to movie thing has been definitely killed by Mutant Chronicles. One of you should nut the thing. it's shit.

After I'm done working on volume 24 for the night I should watch this one again.

I have to say, Dwayne ages much more gracefully than most wrestlers of his generation. at least, than most wrestler of his generation that are still alive. Lots of dead among them. even more for the previous gen. He had so much more talent than Hogan, he could have still make millions in the wrestling industry, and decided to try going for the big screen, where he took a lot more risks than Hogan ever did. I know he did a lot of shitty movies, but Scorpion King, F&F5 and Faster are enough for me. and strangely, "the rundown" always make me laugh. I'm pretty sure he has real acting talent under all these muscles.

But, all game companies are shitting themselves.

:noonecares:

I don't even feel like trying to be western has been that big of a success for anybody. There are titles that have done pretty well in both countries but nothing huge I can think of. I guess you could argue that about Demon's/Dark Souls. I know there have been a lot of great games that have gone ignored, but I think trying to make something really good has a better shot at succeeding then trying to give people what you think they want.

I don't understand this piddling on each number. Vii only made sense because of it's popularity. Even then the quality of spin offs is debate-able.

I kind of suspect it's because of XIV being such a catastrophe. Spin-offs are comparatively pretty cheap, and can be counted on to rake in a decent amount of money. There's not a single FF game that needed a sequel or a spin-off, though I think you can make a case for AC.

I feel like Squeenix should really be focusing on either new IPs or rebuilding forgotten ones, but what do I know~ The situation is much better than Japan but 14 was a massive disaster and I think they could use a win that doesn't have "FF" in the title.

Mandi hasn't picked hers yet?

1. Final Fantasy VI (SNES)
2. Disgaea (PlayStation 2)
3. Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations (NDS)
4. Ever17 (PC)
5. Ocarina Of Time (N64)

I think.

It's that last slot that really kills me. I'm pretty confident about the first 4, but there are a good 10 games duking it out for number 5. Picked Ocarina mostly because it's on a different system than the others. I am indeed overthinking it so might as well do it that way.

They share all the twitter comments from one of the art directors. He was utterly distraught. There's just so much wrong, on so many levels.

They end by using clips from that People vs. George Lucas movie and it's amazing how the comments apply perfectly. It really is about preservation, and the people who are playing them for the first time with the collection are going to think that they are utter shit.

Buy every copy (of the originals) you see in the wild, imo. I've been doing it.

I'm enraged on the behalf of the people who worked on the games. They put so much into it and did a phenomenal job and then people just trash all their hard work. I can't believe they're not deliberately tanking the franchise anymore, and it's just sickening.

I don't get to game stores too often these days but I will do just that! Thank goodness for emulation. There's no way they can stamp out the real games completely. I know most people can't emulate PS2 games that well right now, but they're preserved for when more people can.

Apparently Greetings from Tim Buckley is getting really good reviews? I'd kind of written it off. People are saying great things about The Master too. It's been such a fun movie year that I'm starting to get excited about stuff again. :D

With George Lucas, at least it was the original creative force (for good and mostly ill). With Silent Hill it's Tomm Hulett. Who the fuck IS Tomm Hulett, exactly? He clearly thinks he can do better than the people who made it. He re-wrote the scripts, and had every intention to use them until they told him he couldn't because of (obviously) the already animated character models. He still got changes into them and his additions go against what the creators have previously discussed as being their vision, and one of them even said that they fucked things up, directly.

It genuinely saddens me to see such wanton disregard on the part of so many people. So many important people. He got MEM spewing his shit, and let her give a performance that ruins the Mary/Maria dynamic. Someone that important to the series did that much harm. It hurts. Troy isn't really anything to the series, but he's important to me for the obvious reason, and that hurts, too.

If they had to only pick two games, they did pick the right ones, for my money, but that's exactly why the back end of that sword slices so deep, too. I remember a time when 1 and 3 were lower in my rankings, but over time 3 has really come into its own, in my heart. It was the first one I played, and its potential impact has been filled in, realized, and there are aspects of it that really resonate with me, now, in ways close to how 2 does.

I know the world is shit, and I'm aware of all the realities of the industry. Bullet to the face, yada yada yada

I'm glad to know the details. Fungo and the other guy did a fantastic job.

Still hurts.

Anyone here listen to the Dredd OST?

Yeah.

I kinda liked it.

Not your average comic book score. No manly tragic hero anthem.

Went for more of a Mansell/Murphy industrial sound.

There's a bit of a problem with the mixing and it gets a bit much after awhile but not so bad.

Lop off 10-12 minutes and it'd be great.

The OST for that movie was fairly good. Nothing mind blowing or overly great.

I played it on an emulator. on my PC. hence, PC game as far as I'm concerned.
(it's not like I don't want to play the damn thing on super Nes, but the cartridge is a bit...elusive. I'll try to find the PS one version).

See? Vindication. But still, snes, ps1 or ds. Choose one. That emulation was of one of those.

Nomura is no Sakaguchi apparently.
Of course... easy money with low start-up. Putting cost over quality always gives shit.
AC had it's problems, but at least was still entertaining. In Defense of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children from 1UP.com (http://www.1up.com/features/defense-final-fantasy-advent-children)
Human Revolution was great. I don't know how it did sales wise, but if they wanted more "western" games they had a better idea to just buy up a western developer rather than have japanese developers just make a facsimile of one.

1. Final Fantasy VI (SNES)
2. Disgaea (PlayStation 2)
3. Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations (NDS)
4. Ever17 (PC)
5. Ocarina Of Time (N64)

I think.

It's that last slot that really kills me. I'm pretty confident about the first 4, but there are a good 10 games duking it out for number 5. Picked Ocarina mostly because it's on a different system than the others. I am indeed overthinking it so might as well do it that way.

Added. :awsm:

Maybe he is doing stuff that Tony would normally do? Killing terrorists and the like. Maybe Cheadle wasn't available for filming. I kind of think they had enough people for the first movie. Now for the next go around I am sure characters like him will appear.

Marvel: I'll watch them but only like a few. I would buy Captain America and Avengers only on BD. The rest if they were free :awsm: :erm:
DC... I can't think of anything other than the Batman franchise
Bryan Singer's Superman failed. I only watched the youtube videos and that was enough for me
The old franchise could have stopped after the first one.

I think Nolan's Batman set the bar extremely high and delivered so well that anything after that will seem like Bat nipples

Justice League movie, I have faith. Nolan to produce. :smrt:
Although contains Aquaman :erm:  fuck. there goes my faith.

Marvel movieverse...I like them all. yeah. even Thor. Sorry :erm:. well except the first hulk movie. it sucks.

DC...Dc produced two of the worst turds as far as superhero movies are concerned, for two of their main (no...for THEIR main character and an important one). Superman returns was at best a 1 out of 5 for me. I got bored. in a superman movie that's a crime. the thing is bo-ring. Green lantern...well...Ryan Reynolds. what else needs to be said ?
As for the justice league...they need first to make another batman movie. why ? well, maybe because Nolan's batman is so down to earth that death is final, superpowers do not exists, and technologically speaking, a long time will pass before Wayne is able to set up the watchtower...

So superman needs to have a good movie. they need another batman in a completely different direction, a wonder woman movie, a reboot for green lantern with decent costumes and SFX, and surprisingly, they'll introduce Black Canary and Green Arrow in the JL movie.

Oh, and they need a hulk placebo, so they'll also have to do a martian manhunter movie.

in other words, at best, we'll either have a decent justice league movie in 10 to 15 years (keep in mind...Iron Man stayed in development hell for 16 years, Cap for nearly 3 decades). By then, Marvel will probably bath in money with Avengers 3 and a shitload of superhero themed movies, all linked together. in other words, DC tries to catch a train that is already 3 or 4 miles away from their reach.

What was The Punisher? Different brand altogether?
i want the first one again  Dolph's bum~

the punisher is a special case in the marvel universe, as he doesn't interact much with other heroes anyway, except maybe Daredevil and Spidey. He has his own gallery of supervillains (the only one correctly portrayed in a movie was, sadly, the Russian in Hensleigh's movie, played by Kevin Nash. and even then...his death is so much more fun in the comics. that and the punisher has a long, complex (very very) complex story involving crime lords, over white and black hats, angels and the devil himself.

and yes...as sad as it sounds, Dolph lundgren was the best on screen punisher. Thomas Jane was too emo for my taste, and Warzone's punisher (Ray Stevenson) is cold enough....but the sheer gore side of the movie and its bad direction, acting and so on killed the thing. The punisher comics aren't outrageously violents. well, some are...but not as a general rule. Castle doesn't pulverise head with a single punch.

I haven't watched any of the US after the first one.
I hear the where Van Damme returns for the franchise is actually good.

Universal Soldier was Emmerich only watchable film. because it had a good idea that he couldn't fuck up.
US 2 was terrible. because Vandamne was out of control, because Bill Goldberg can't act and because the script was incredibly stupid. only redeeming factor was michael jay white's martial abilities.
US 3 is pretty good, for a DTV movie. Lundgren's back and that's for the best.
US4 is on good and bad rails right now. bad because why make Luc Deveraux, the hero of previous movies, the bad guy ? working with his arch nemesis ? with seedy, under-qualified bums turned unisols ?
good because it has Scott Adkins who can do pretty crazy moves. because it potentially takes the franchise in a new direction, and because there seems to actually be a scenario in it. quite the new thing for a vandamme movie.

You don't wish you had the ability to be a good chef. Trust me.

That means you come to terms with being a complete asshole and feel nothing when you tear someone down.

High stress just leads to smoking and drinking. I don't remember the last time I worked in a kitchen that didn't have 75% of the crew smoking and drinking like there's no tomorrow.

However, you are a good cook and really, that's all that matters.

Question: Why wasn't War Machine in the Avengers?

Besides 'He isn't technically an Avenger.' You're going to tell me Rhodey wouldn't want a part of that action?

I mean, there might be a reason. Fill me in. Course it opens the can of worms as to why Wolvie et. al. and Spidey didn't show.
Rhodey is Air Force. Nick Fury may not trust having somebody from a government agency other than his. Given the short time span of the film, he wouldn't have time to show up unless asked. Also, don't know whether he still has the armor. I mean, maybe he doesn't, maybe something's happened to it. We'll find out in Iron Man III.
From a practical standpoint, there are too damn many people in that cast already.
JonC

---------- Post added at 06:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:18 PM ----------

That's part of what I had in mind, to be inside the can. Or, what is preventing it from being opened, as it were.
I forget which, it's either Daredevil or Fantastic Four is about to revert to Marvel.
Spider-Man ain't gonna happen until it loses so much money as to be useless. Same thing for X-Men.
I'm old school, I never thought Spider-Man or Wolverine should be in the Avengers.

---------- Post added at 06:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:21 PM ----------

Spidey's dabbled in The Avengers in the comics and could work. I'm happy without him in there though.

Wolvie's fought with them too but he's got his own thing going. No need.

The Avengers already have a smorgasbord of characters they can use from their group. Stick to that.
Yes.

I'm happy with the way Marvel's handling their films at the moment.

I might not like them all but they seem to going in the same direction. Was a little iffy at first but they seemed to have found the right groove and are going with it.

DC on the other hand.

Now that Batman's done I get the feeling they're a little stunned.

"What do we do now?"

"Guess we wait to see how Superman does?"

"Was that a question or a statement."

"....:erm: I don't know."

"Is that Josh Wheaton guy still available to finish Wonder Woman for us?"
DC is fucked.
Nolan's Batman is now considered definitive, yet is also impossible to continue. Since's he's overseeing Superman, expect the same, at best, or since Zack Snyder's directing, get ready for reboot...what...four?
DC got to choose between Josh Weadon's Wonder Woman and David E. Kelly's. They picked the wrong one. This is before you get how DC's characters have much more different styles from each others than the Avengers. (There's a reason why Ghost Rider isn't a member.)
The Mrs. postulates, and i agree, that if they really want to do a Justice League movie, they need to forget about copying Marvel's model, and just do the movie, with version designed for it, and not worrying about what films are out or in development.

Marceline

cuckoo77

They could continue Blake.......and risk turning to poop with that.

It's a nice thought but it's also kinda set up to turn to nothing but ticket sales.

I know the last few Batsy films had ticket sales in mind but I like to believe Nolan also had fans in mind as well.

...I think he did.

The comic book movie thing is excruciatingly painful for longtime fans. It does what we recognize for our sake then shits it up for the kids. I personally wish for no more batman. TDKR ended it perfectly with our imagination flying with wonders.

I think DC should sell themselves to someone like Marvel did.
Sell everything to WB.

What was The Punisher? Different brand altogether?

Unlike Marvel, which has it's properties scattered through the studio system, DC, for decades, pretty much had everything controlled by Warner Bros. Which makes sense, since Warner Bros. fucking owns DC, and has for a while.

the punisher is a special case in the marvel universe, as he doesn't interact much with other heroes anyway, except maybe Daredevil and Spidey.

I'm sorry, I could never call myself a fan of The Punsiher, and well, The Tick just destroyed him:

The general audience want a Batman movie, not a Robin movie. That goes triple for a Justice League movie. "We don't have Batman, but we do have Robin. Sort of." Not a plan.
And Nolan is done, so you have to have someone else try to copy what Nolan did, and ended. You'll be lucky if he doesn't denounce it on general principal, no matter how noble its goals.

Fox had the rights to Fantastic Four and Daredevil. The options for both were expiring, and they weren't going to be able to mount both. So they picked one, and let the rights lapse to the other.
So, at the very least, Fox will make one more run at a Fantastic Four movie. It will be a reboot.

Probably the coolest thing we ever did out here was when we walked onto the Paramount lot, headed up to Ron Moore's office at Deep Space Nine and interviewed him to work for us.
Second was a few years later when we did the same thing with Rick Sternbach.
The funding never went anywhere, but still; that people of that calibre were evaluating us and our work, and took it seriously enough for an interview (at a time when they clearly didn't need the money,) was beyond awesome.

Temporarily transfer a bunch of files to fill your E: Drive and C: drive for a bit to defrag. Then transfer back.
Shuffle all the drives around so at least a large chunk is defragged.

You only need at least 15% to defrag. So move 80-120gb to be on the safe side.

:erm: What's all on your C: drive then? over 200gb.

For your main drive with the OS, you should have at least 30-45% free for the temp files and free-space fragmentation and largest free-space chunk.

Name them after shit shooters, for maximum awkward future sentences potential~

I filled cuckoo. :erm:

And emptied Neg. :erm:

Ndi needs a good defragging. :erm:

Sparky was safely removed. :smrt:

Temporarily transfer a bunch of files to fill your E: Drive and C: drive for a bit to defrag. Then transfer back.
Shuffle all the drives around so at least a large chunk is defragged.

I'll do that next time. I spent too long doing what I did already. Need a break.

I should do some pruning.

It looks lonely.

I found a new external in a box once. Too bad it didn't have a power cord or usb cable with it. I sold it on eBay saying I had no idea if it worked or not. Got 50 bucks for what could have just been broken.

I cleared some space on my drives. :D

I have 247 GB free of 450 GB left on this, and that's almost exclusively music. Normal computer has like a few hundred gb left out of a terabyte.

I need to get a another drive.

My C drive also has my D/L folder which is feckin huge. I forgot about that. Some of it will eventually be moved to the E drive.

I don't want to tackle the D/L folder.

The sad part is I know a few Republicans that would take this SERIOUSLY.
