Yeah, it was an alright episode. Not spectacular. I'm not feeling the furry vibe of Gekiranger and have no desire to ever watch it. I figure there'll be plenty of just special attacks now that I know they're willing to pull that. Even if they are doubling up on the auxiliaries like with Gaoranger and Shinkenger, there's no way they can release anything close to 34 mecha.

No. Easy enough play on words to pick up on if you know those Japanese words, as we've already discussed. If you watch Sentai you should know Tora one way or the other. Everyone knows Neko.

Animals and numbers are one of the few things I feel confident about my Japanese knowledge in. And days of the week and colors, I guess~ My DS has served me well! I feel pretty good about knowing random Den-O catchphrases too! Ore, souiu kao shite ru daro?

I thought this week's episode was pretty good. It's one of those ones that I think will be better as a part of the series as a whole than it is by itself, even though I liked it by itself too. There were just lots of nice little details and I felt everyone got some good characterization. They've been doing some nice, subtle stuff with Joe. I find Don to be so endearing, and I loved his ensemble. ^^ I want to see more of the awesome way his mind works, though!

I love the Sun Vulcan costumes so much. ; ; DEM SCARFS! Makes me think of Showa Era Kamen Rider. Do you watch Kamen Rider at all, Blinded No More?

The stuff I hear about Gekiranger is very positive, so I'm sure it is a great show. Just not really one that appeals to me, both aesthetically and setting wise. Gokaiger has been great about getting me interested in new series, though! I can't wait to watch Dekaranger. Episode 5 has been my favorite so far. I know this isn't saying much when there have only been 7 episodes. XD

I'm happy they're not overdoing it with the new forms. Gokaiger is pretty over the top already, and I think they can afford to keep things a little simpler sometimes. Thought the mech fight in this episode was pretty good, even if the finisher was a little anti-climactic. Totally squeed at the sauntering away with the explosion in the background. Expect a gif of that soon~

I find no sleep is better than less than 2 hours. I feel worse with one or two. My body hates me. If I have none then it knows I'm the boss. :-P

It is true that less than 2 can be painful, but I find it's more important to lose consciousness even for a few minutes.

If I lose consciousness, even for ever so brief a time I won't get micro-sleeps and that is 99% of the battle.

I'm in the no-sleep zone right now. I went off at 3 am, watched some shit and eventually came back on here. :laugh:

Well... I watched Dragon Knight. *facepalm* I'm mainly concerned with watching Super Sentai at the moment, but Kamen Rider Ryuki/555 is on my watch list after I finish Choujin Sentai Jetman.

In my experience, sleep aid is a bad idea if you can't afford to sleep for more than 8 hours. You just don't really wake up for a long time. Taking half a dose of Benadryl has worked without the super grogginess when I really need to get some sleep.

I've gotten questions or weird reactions before. Think it's pretty obnoxious, tbh! The checkout lady was really weirded out when she asked who I was buying my Peej for and I said it was for me. Nothing wrong with ladies buying toys of busty superhero ladies, missy~

I can take the occasional weird reaction for the convenience of buying stuff in the store, though. There are a lot of things I'm after that I could order online, but I just won't because they're not really worth that extra shipping money. Something special about getting stuff right off the shelf. And when you get positive reactions, it makes buying the toys that much more fun. Guys who worked at the Toy R Us in my mall always wanted to talk to me about what I was buying and even invited me to do stuff with them. :D Pretty great!

I've actually heard pretty positive things about Dragon Knight! Did you not like it? It seems like it's better than the usual toku adaptation, anyway. While I'm sure it's much less dark than Ryuki, it feels like it's a bit more serious in tone? Ryuki can be a really, really dark series, but it's easy to forget that because the show can be so silly, too. It's actually a pretty neat contrast and I feel like it made some moments in the show more powerful.

I know opinions on 555 can be pretty mixed, but I'm a big fan of the show. Might have my favorite rider designs overall, and the fights are just SO GOOD. Plus, I find all the shades of grey in the human/orphenoch stuff to be really compelling. If you're a huge fan of mecha, it's definitely one of the better Kamen Riders to go with.

If you're not sure you want to watch a whole series, I think Paradise Lost is the very best rider movie, and you could definitely watch and enjoy it without ever seeing 555! Just has some major spoilers for the series. Also, no Delta (this is not a spoiler for the series).

Plus, I find all the shades of grey in the human/orphenoch stuff to be really compelling. If you're a huge fan of mecha, it's definitely one of the better Kamen Riders to go with.

If you're not sure you want to watch a whole series, I think Paradise Lost is the very best rider movie, and you could definitely watch and enjoy it without ever seeing 555! Just has some major spoilers for the series. Also, no Delta (this is not a spoiler for the series).

I find the lack of mecha in Kamen Rider keeps things grounded and centered on the characters and the cities where they take place. Especially Fuuto. No sudden cuts to suit actors tromping through a cardboard city.

It definitely doesn't have mech on the level that most all sentai series do, but there is still some awesome mech stuff. I'm working on getting streaming 555 for you right now. I can do Den-O next! Might take me a while but I'll get it up as fast as I can.

I've always liked how completely badass they are in such different ways. I think Rook is a pretty entertaining (not sure that's the word I want, but I'll go with it) villain, but it's rough seeing characters get tossed around like that, especially when they have that kind of emotional investment in the fight.

Yes, yes! I loved his interactions with both Otoya and Wataru, and I really felt for him. Just thought it was a beautifully told story, and I love seeing what an impact Otoya had on people. One of the many neat things about the time switches.

I like that that element was explored fairly early on too- the nature of Fangires and how difficult it is for them to fight their natures. Definitely made a difference in how I view that stuff, and I just like shades of grey type storylines.

It's really hard to talk about the Jiro/Otoya/Yuri stuff without getting into spoiler territory. ; ; They're all such interesting characters, though! Really think character development is one of Kiva's strongest points. ^^ Hope you keep on enjoying the dynamic between the two of them.

I'm not sure how I feel about Decade. I've only seen him twice and it's been so brief.

It's not easy to get a good idea of what Tsukasa's like based on any of his crossover stuff. TBH, it isn't that easy to get a great idea of what Tsukasa's like even watching the series. XD I only feel like I have a strong understanding of the character because of web videos and manga. The series and the movies don't give you enough!

I'm thinking about reshuffling and burning my own discs in chronological order. But you're right...nothing compares to listening to the crisp-sounding stuff straight off the disc. That's something you'll never get from the downloads.

Well, since all the bonus tracks are tacked at the end, it makes for a disjointed listening experience. They could have easily put it in film order and saved us the headache.

The Nightmare Before Christmas album is the one they did right. All in perfect linear order. :)

Yes....I don't like how the "bonus tracks" are at the end of each disc. I would have preferred a separate disc for ALL the extras.

You should frequent this "score" thread. It's relaxed, sort of left in the lonely corner and no drama......so far. We just sit back and share what we've been listening to. :) I like it.
