Speaking of Pythons, anyone saw Gilliam's newest? I haven't, am curious though.

I never watched those. I once picked up Brothers Grimm in the rental shop but didn't get it in the end. Tideland didn't appear at all. I like his older works mostly. Brazil is a classic of the genre (I think it created a genre all it's own). Last thing I saw with Mr Gilliam was "Lost in La Mancha", I know it's not technically a Gilliam film but it's a wonderful watch. Tragic, ah, what might have been.

i think Gilliam's planning on reviving that film.

what about 12 Monkeys? a wonderful little piece of cinema.

and Fear & Loathing? well...i'll be honest and tell you i saw it under the influence in the theater on a really bad trip. i guess it did it's job.

If you didn't know already 12 monkeys is a remake/reimagining of an old short film called LA JETEE, by Chris Marker. It's maybe a little hard to find but highly recommended. I got it on dvd with another Marker film on the same disc. It's B/W, about 30 mins long, made up of (almost) entirely still images. and is one of the most profound things. Fantastic. Marker is an enigma. I have a spare copy of Time Bandits that I can't give away. No one wants its. Morons. Sure, it gets a bid mad at the end, but it's classic Gilliam. You want it? You pay the postage and it's yours.

yeah...i knew that....but i've never actually seen the source material. I'll try and dig it up at the local freak and geeks video store.

but Time Bandits? I think i have it.....besides, i get the feeling you'd just send me 2hours of you dancing to the Kitty Cat Dance in the nude.

the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is already out in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. I gotta wait till Christmas. :sad:

I haven't saw that one. It's got the wife too. Apparently it's not great. Burton was in one of his "fallow" periods. Still, even Burton at his worst is better then some at their best. And Liz is always fun to watch. If you know the story you can guess who she plays.

yeah....it sounds like Herrmann got together with the '60's experimental Pink Floyd and played with a massive string section.
