On the commentary they just say they didn't want someone who had killed a child, and that's it. At first I thought that the character was supposed to have killed a child and was really confused. Figured it out when I searched for story stuff though.

They make it sound like the network really hated Rebecca Gayheart in general. Bryan Fuller said he got into arguments with them about whether or not she was attractive and really weird stuff like that. Feel bad it was so stressful behind the scenes, it's such a good show.

Kind of thought it was a shame guy who plays Holden was never on Dollhouse.


Rebecca Gayheart never really bounced back after that accident.

I wonder if her career would still be the same today if that hadn't happened.

Probably, most of those "I Was In a '90's slasher flick" actors are pretty much gone today.

tommy is an alright album, not the who's best imo, but fine enough with daltrey and townshend singing the songs, but i really have little interest in hearing the songs performed by some ensemble cast, regardless of whether or not that was pete's intention.

i've never been able to stand rocky horror either. i know that doesn't make sense coming from someone who listens to bowie, roxy music, and queen, but i just can't get into it. never been able to. glam rock had run its course by then anyhow. bowie was smart, knew a sinking ship when he saw one, was wise to jump off that bandwagon when he did, otherwise he'd just be a footnote, a novelty act like gary glitter.

come to think of it, i just hate musicals in general. with a few exceptions. wicked is okay and i'll always enjoy fiddler on the roof

The first time I heard about Spirited Away was seeing a poster for it in the Paris subway. I stopped and stared. It was playing in the theaters in Cannes, and my wife and I were very very tempted to see it there even though it would be the French dub. Saw it as soon as it came out in the US that summer.

Been following Miyazaki since his Lupin III days. Disney has the distribution rights (certainly for North America,) so it is released on their schedule. The upside is that John Lassiter oversees all the dubbing, and he and Miyazaki have this big mutual admiration society going. (The Ghibli Museum always has an exhibit for the latest Pixar movie.)

She was also cast in Firefly as well and even filmed all her scenes for the pilot, if I'm not mistaken. Whedon ultimately felt she wasn't right for the role and quickly replaced her with Morena Baccarin.

It's one of those things like Eric Stoltz in Back to the Future where I feel bad when I read about it, but am still really glad that it happened.

When it was first on TV I managed to catch it in it's 2nd run before the 2nd season for viewers that missed it the first time around.

I only had to wait a week to find out what happened.

I feel sorry for the folks that had to wait like 6 or 7 months.

...but I had to wait 10 - 18 months for LOST, so I feel their pain now. :sad:

Yup, I watched it because of Joel McHale too. It was this okay comedy with mostly stock characters and then all of a sudden it changed into this amazing show. I started to realize it might be something special around the first Halloween episode and loved it from the debate episode on.

It is insane to watch the early episodes and see how much most of the cast has changed. Especially Troy and Britta.

How do you feel about the reveal, Sparky? I know people talk a lot about how Lynch didn't want to ever reveal the killer and stuff like that, but I found it to be really satisfying, especially when you go back and re-watch the show knowing everything.

Yes! In retrospect some things seem so obvious I can't believe I didn't pick up on them. There's a lot going on, much of it crazy, and it sort of obscures the obvious truths, but doesn't feel like it was all red herrings once you know what was going on either. Really good writing.

I love Gordon tons.

Mostly it's the just the James plotline that's really, really bad. And the Nadine stuff.

There are plenty of works I've enjoyed in spite of spoilers, but trying to figure things out and put pieces together in my head is a huge part of the fun for me. I dislike that being taken away.

I do like the spoilers that are hints of what to come and not "Droopy McCool is the killer", because they invite speculation.

I'm anxious around spoilers. I genuinely do get what you're saying though. For me on first viewing it's nice to experience the emotions the director had envisioned. Subsequent ones can reinforce ,or expose holes in, the fabric of the work.
