On a semi related note- Does anyone have a copy of the TV version of Mr. Kneale's The Ttone Sape or the Magnetic Strip made of Rock? I had the PAL DVD but I just pulled it out of storage and its' gotten a bad scratch making it practically unplayable. I'd like to replace it with even a digital copy if possible before I have to hunt this one down again...

for one thing the we are entering the era where the "age of the well known celebrity" exploded there are ten of thousands more celebrities after a certain era.... so more well known people are dying... the percentage isn't higher.... however many of the celebrities are bigger names recently.

Not sure about the rest of the world but during the half time at the FA Cup match on Saturday, which is being shown on the Beeb, they are going to do a reveal/give clues to the Medic's new companion.

My Blu Ray went missing last year and the high market value of the set on the secondary market has kept me from repurchasing it. I know a couple of friends with the Blu Ray Set and I'll see if I can borrow it for ripping.

I gather the 40th Anniversary set had the commentaries (I've got the 35th Anniv set, which doesn't) as on the toerent sites they've got that as their source for the commentaries. I know the Blu-ray set definitely has.

I dunno, guess it's the "grumpy old fan" speaking from inside me, but I wasn't that impressed with the new companion. My wife and I were hoping for a male companion, perhaps, but as we saw, not happening. Not sure why that is, as it would be a fresh start for the series, something we haven't seen. Fitz and 8th Medic worked well together in the male-centric time ship during the EDAs print run. I am not sure what they are doing, but I think it is perhaps time for me to walk away from the current state of Medic fandom. I just don't get where the series is trying to go, but it's felt less and less like the series I recalled. Ah well, there's still a few NAs, MAs, and EDAs I still have to read. And every so often, LC hits a homerun, so I will remain optimistic on that front..

Hmmm... can't help but think the desire in the modern era to make an 'event' out of every Medic related announcement can be counter productive sometimes. The actress playing the new companion has some seriously impressive credentials, I've no doubt she's a top talent who will demonstrate her versatility and range in the next series. Trouble is, a 2 minute comedy scene in the middle of a football match, didn't really do her any favours I thought. It looked like one of those Comedy Relief sketches and the companion came across as a caricature (which I'm sure she isn't). I doubt any actress would have impressed within those confines. Strange thing to do, or at least a strange way and choice of how to showcase her.

One of the first things I did when I got the internet was to track down all his music. He was making music both under the Black moniker as well as his own name. Good music that spoke to your soul. I only found out through one of his friends posting of his passing on FB.

yeah i think if they announce another range of titles they might implode. They should really look at what happens with comic books -- you create too many titles of the same character [ie Punisher ; Batman ;superman; Spider-man] eventually people stop buying all of them

interesting news on the LC Main rance it seems the 7th medic trilogy to come next after the Meester trilogy is featuring the return of a post Iceworld Ms Bush that joins Ms Mcshane and the medic .... I've got a lot of stuff through toe-rents and they almost invariably have no extras. I try to buy all I can but a lot of the stuff I want I'd only be able to get online - which I'd have to get a pre-paid card for (again, money I don't have). We've recently had our rent put up by $57 a week. My wife's job is only part time and I'm on a Disability Pension. We're struggling and live from pay to pay. No money in the bank at all. So I'm reliant on what I can find online.

The way Courtney and McGann play it is pitched so perfectly that you just feel the history that the Medic and the Brig have shared together. Especially love when the Brig says to Eight "I like the new face, by the way. See if you can't hold onto it a little longer than some of your predecessors. There's a good chap." So wonderfully wry, droll and British. In other words, a perfect line for the Brig that rather succinctly shows just how "seen it all" he is to the Doctor at this point.

agree there..... what brought the down for me were the horrible American accents; and pretty a bizarre version of the US political process and admission to statehood that has ever been invented. The story choices were bizarre; and apart from the Brig/8 interaction every aspect of the audio took me out of the story and it was very hard to get back in .

I actually quite like this one as it's a good separation story between 8/C and them having to work alone. But it's really let down by NBs performance. He's not a terrible actor, but he's one where I can 'hear the acting' rather than 'feel the performance'.

And, arguably, it's a bit early in the run to try and do a "bait and switch" that our lead character has been replaced.

Thank you! As I admitted before, I'm aware of how foolish it is to want such a substandard episode. But knowing that I didn't have a complete copy still bothered me no end!

At least you can still get looked after, health-wise, if you have no money.

A good example is one of the medications I have (Humira injection pens). I have to inject myself every fortnight. The pens cost over $1,700 for two. As I'm on a Disability pension I can get for only $6.10c. There's also a safety net in place. Once I've spent over a certain amount on medications (and I'm on a lot) and I've reached the safety net, for the rest of the year I get my medications "free".

Yes, I've just got to listen to an audio at least once, even if it is bad. I'm making my way through all the audios, and I want to make sure that I manage to hear the whole thing (I will at least give it a go). LC has begun an annual P@ul Sp@gg Short Story competition, in which anyone can send in a one page synopsis of their story idea along with a brief bit from their script. Winner gets their story made into a full Short Trips adventure.

P@ul Spr@gg was an awesome guy who helped me out with any number of issues I had with LC. So I am pretty happy they continue to honour him two years after he died.
