One thing that's always bugged me about the TARDIS taking The Brig's shape though is that she is supposed to be female. Granted, she's a living space-time machine, so I guess she can conjure up anything, but still, I thought it sounded odd. Or perhaps that is just me.
I looked at it as the TARDIS taking a form that Charley was familiar with. If you recall, she met the Brigadier briefly in "Minuet in Hell". So, it was basically trying to lull Charley into a false sense of security by taking the form of someone the Doctor knows and trusts.

If there are any generous souls out there who might be able to help I'd really love to get hold of a couple of the subscriber only BF stories, I can't do torrents unfortunately.

I'd love to hear a couple that start with Return...

Return to the W....(place where the 1st doctor met some giant ants and butterflies, and a caterpillar stuck its head in a wall!) and,
Return of the K....(big crystal-ly monsters, with spinning heads who like setting exams and have a name that sounds like the hard bread chunks that you put in salad!)

Much obliged if anyone can help, no worries if its too much bother :)

I've listened to the first three Blake's 7 re-boots (Rebel, Traitor, and Liberator) and they're pretty awesome. The sound design is most impressive, in a way that I can only describe as "cinematic." Unfortunately, I haven't had time to listen to the rest of the Blake's Seven or Kaldor City audios.

Some of the comics aren't bad....I really wish the artists were better....
If they grabbed some artists from Marvel Comics I think the quality would be over the top

Actually, a lot of the earlier comics were done by artists who went on to become big deals at Marvel and DC. The vast majority of Tom Baker's strips and the 5th Doctor epic "the Tides of Time" in Doctor Who Monthly were done by Dave Gibbons (Watchmen), and Abslom Daak the Dalek-Killer was co-created by Garth Ennis collaborator Steve Dillon (Preacher, Punisher MAX).

In fact, here's a shot of Mr. Dillon finishing a sketch of Daak (http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1159774920743.25758.1418901846&type=3#!/photo.php?fbid=1159809161599&set=a.1159774920743.25758.1418901846&type=3&theater) he did for me at the Philadelphia Comic Convention a few years ago.

I'm also pretty sure that Brian Hitch (The Authority) did a few 7th Doctor strips, but I can'r recall them off the top of my head.

I really liked Ridgway's art on the 6th Doctor strips with Frobisher. In fact now that I've become a fan of Colin's BF adventures, I kinda feel like I like everything associated with his Doctor with the tiny exception of all of his televised stories. Odd that.

So glad I could help. I always like to re-listen to audios I've already listened to. It makes me pick on stuff I didn't notice, or didn't realize right away. For instance, I listened to "Invaders From Mars" because I love Mark Gatiss' writing and also because Simon Pegg was in it. By the end, I loved it, but was disappointed that I didn't recognize where Simon Pegg was in all of it. On my second listen, it dawned on me that Pegg was playing that gangster Don Cheney. It was unreal how convincing he was in the role with that broad 1930s New York accent! At least it was to me. :)

But don't forget - you really shouldn't listen to Zagreus on it's own. To appreciate it best - get in sufficient supplies of food and beverage of your choice, tell your loved ones and close ones just to bugger off for a while, turn the phone off, turn on your best audio gear and then put the whole day aside to listen from the start of Neverland to the end of Scherzo.

By far the best hours of storytelling that BF have yet to top.

(S4 of the EDAs in one go is a pretty close second, though.)

All of the B7 Media 'Blakes 7' are on iTunes for ridiculously low prices, so if you can you should consider lobbing some cash their way. Less than a fiver, IIRC, for each of the 'Early Years' stories.

The entire collection of SJS stories from BF are only 25.

EDIT TO ADD - Just been over to the BF site to double check the SJS price and they've announced that a new site design is to be launched.

Is it just me that worries about a design when there's a line in the news release that says "we will also have a helpful video here on the site and on YouTube to explain where you’ll find things" - Seriously, if you believe you have to release a video to explain the navigation you've probably really screwed up the site design.

Oh well, it'll be interesting to see what it's like once it's live.

The SJA's on BF come up to $50 with postage for Aussies - which i can't justify right now - if they had download packs for both S1 and S2 at $15 ea i might get away with it but that offer is only for S2. And for that kind of money, i'd still prefer the cds themselves.

As for itunes, i'm holding out for discount vouchers atm - we can often get $30 for $20 here and sometimes even better, so i'll wait for them to come up and see if i've got the money to get them.

Unfortunately kids insist on being fed lol. And with easter and two kids birthdays in the next couple of weeks my 'spare' money is spoken for right now lmao

Don't jump straight to it if you've not heard any of the 8th+Charley stories that proceed it, though, other wise you risk it not making a helluva lot of sense. If anything, make sure you listen to 'Neverland' first which references more than enough to make the following three hours of Zagreus work in context.

Yes, it's a torrent. There are a few torrents around and three different rips! Obviously, two of them are defective. The one that works (128kps) is in update 1 at the impish site. I also notice that the running length is longer than the other versions, so the faulty ones probably had a missing chunk of audio (I just listened to it, so there's no repeating section).

*/files/details/2726195/2990670/

;)

The Three Companions is another one I had to find an alternate source for as the .m4b copy going around is also screwy (the omnibus .mp3 works). Also Colin's Axos was glitchy (just a pop at the start in the big collection). And it was here that complete copies of Gallifrey #1 and Faction Paradox #2 were made available (both had several minutes of audio missing).

What's your issue with torrents? Never had any trouble. Really, they're no more frightening than any other way of picking stuff up and quite simple. They're also where the majority of material is put.

Though threads like these are far better when you're looking for books and comics. That's for sure.

I use my son's internet and his network when i access the net. He doesn't want torrents so i don't use them. Simple really.

exactly my son's reasoning. He's one of those technogeeks lol so if he says i'm not to use torrents i'll do as i'm told lmao.

0:25 - 0:26 is definitely Bad Wolf Bay, well it's the same location anyway (Southerndown Beach). Not that it means anything seeing as 'The Time of Angels' also had scenes set there. I only recognise it as its only 20 minutes away from me.

Looks like the blasted Teletubby daleks are back, too. Gotta love the Daleks, but I really don't like the new design. Fingers crossed they've done some slight modifications such as subtly making it them less bottom heavy and hunched-back.

Hew1tt
03-26-2012, 12:46 PM
The source which said the Daleks were coming back, is the same source which said the 'new' teletubby Daleks were destined for the dustbin of design, and that the BBC were going to go back, to the popular 'gold on Bronze', though they may get a paint job like the 'ironside' [Victory of the Daleks] ones, in par with the classic series where dalek colours and design features were changed frequently for the first 20 years, before the new molds for 'Revelation and Remembrance'....
So hopefully we will have collectable 'teletubbies' - for the kiddies.. [like 'Rolikins' and 'Marklin Sparking Daleks'], and back to the 'old' ones in the new series.... it would be nice to see them back.... in 'scary' gunmetal and black, [a'la Genesis of the Daleks] .... looming out of the shadows or mist, again though .... :) ......

Excellent news if true. As long as the original New Series design doesn't get the plastic look. IMHO with the industrial/military look I think they really hit a sweet spot design-wise. They properly echo the classic design with looking like they really could have been mass-created and real. (er - if you see what I mean)

With the New Paradigm design I don't really believe it was purely to sell new figures as you could tell in the confidential that Gatiss wasn't too happy that the new look didn't quite manage to translate from imagination to production.

Perhaps they could have worked if they'd not gone down the primary colour route, or given them just a large blaster to be latter-day Special Weapons Daleks, but I'm gonna guess that they'll not be gone forever but used sparingly as 'top of the shop' Daleks with the NS-Original the ones we bump into more often.

It makes you wonder if someone at the BBC was under the impression that the Daleks needed changing because the fans were unsatisfied/bored with them of if they just felt that they had to change because x number of years had passed. The Daleks need to be scary and a bright yellow dalek with a fat fat bottom looks like it ought to be cutting the grass at a preschool.

Nobber
03-26-2012, 03:07 PM
I think it was more that The Moff and Gatiss wanted to put their stamp on the design as they re-populated the universe with Daleks that didn't need to keep explaining why they popped up all the time after being utterly wiped out after The Time War. There's no doubt that BBC Worldwide rubbed their hands with glee at a new marketing toy, but if you watch the Confidential for 'Victory Of The Daleks' (and, if memory serves, the commentary track?) with Gatiss I think the pair of them really had the best intention at heart and were definitely disappointed by the actual realisation of them and fan reaction.

Wearing my "If I were show runner" hat I would re-use them as Special Weapons Daleks (I like that idea the more I think of it), have the Original New Series as the Leader ones, and have the various Classic Series designs as drones and (ah-hem)foot-soldiers.

(I quite like this take on the design - Enemy Of The Daleks - Based on a Big Finish Production - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Y7OMxhEraE) - a sort of half-way house between the Classic look and the New Series loook.)

The Daleks need to be scary and a bright yellow dalek with a fat fat bottom looks like it ought to be cutting the grass at a preschool.

The Daleks have always come in all colours, shapes and sizes (swamp Daleks looked like spiders, with their eight long mechanical legs). The new Daleks are bigger, with scarier, somehow more mechanical voices. Yes they are brightly coloured, red, blue and yellow, but so were the Daleks in the Peter Cushing movies in 1966! They are bigger in the same way that a tank is bigger than a Nissan Micra!

I find the new Daleks to be scarier than the old ones, and look forward to hiding behind the sofa again, which is something the Daleks haven't made me do since they came back in 2005!

03-26-2012, 03:23 PM
I'm guessing Swamp Daleks were a comic/book thing?

You have a point about the colour of the Cushing Daleks, but they looked Metallic rather than plastic and the design wasn't as bottom heavy with chunky-shoulder-pads as the New Paradigm ones. (IMHO, of course. Your Mileage May Vary! :) )

So anyone spotted in the wild the companion's tale and the fourth outing of our two favourite Victorian fellows?

EDIT TO ADD - Anyone else having problems with the 'Like' not registering?
The latest outing from the huge conclusions companions has finally reached my grubby fingers in the ninth episode from the sixth series of these. I'd also like to discover what the two Victorian fellows have been up to recently, but alas, no-one has yet told me...

Yes, Marsh Daleks (not Swamp Daleks, as I called them before) are designed for marshy planets, and I thought they had more legs, but it appears to be three, according to this artists' rendering:

And here are some other dalek types: An Emporer Dalek surrounded by 'Special Weapons Daleks'

Thanks for the Base Two story.

Hmm. Not sure about the Marsh Daleks - they do like they need more legs, don't they?

The second one reminds me of the TV21 design. Which reminds me, I've not looked at the Second Empire web comic for a while. Dalek comic index (http://www.cg-lair.co.uk/daleks/secemp-index.htm) - It goes on for a while, but this chap really does have some brilliant designs.

Seems the net is closing...

While googling and torrent-searching for items I don't have yet (most noticably, the 'Bereft of Elegance II' and the 'Victorian Fellows'), I keep coming across '1 result removed in compliance with EUCD / DMCA'.

I know that Huge Conclusions have asked a number of sites to remove their items (and all sites I'm aware of this happening at, have complied with the request), so I suspect that they have found another method of forcing us to cease the age-old practice of buying a CD, and burning a copy for a friend (which to be honest is what happens, although sometimes we have a lot of friends, and they get to to the actual CD burning themselves...)

I think it's safe to say the Cushing Daleks were brightly colored because color film was fairly brand new. Kind of like how the slippers in the Wizard of Oz are supposed to be silver but they changed them to Ruby so the could show off the new technique. They're not very scary either but their metallic look is better than the plastic look the new Daleks have.

@Nobber
That's kind of what I meant. They changed them just to change them. It wasn't broke and it didn't need fixing. If they wanted to let the Daleks return en massse they could have simply used the current design or slight modification. Why would the new Daleks have a look different from the ones we've been seeing? Presumably the pure Dalek DNA was from the Time War and we've seen plenty of those Daleks. Why are these different? There is no explanation given. Furthermore, Daleks are creatures/machines of terror, war, and genocide. Those things aren't supposed to look like toys.

If they wanted to change something, why not remove the plungers and replace them with various torture devices? We've seen Daleks with flamethrowers and pincers. Why not chainsaws? Too scary for the kiddies?

Classic Dalek Variants (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/james.parker197/classic_variants.html)
Dalek Colour Schemes and hierarchy - The Daleks - The Doctor Who Site (http://www.thedoctorwhosite.co.uk/dalek/types/)

I believe that the 'change' to the 'tellytubbies' had more to do with expanding the history of the Daleks, to include the 'ultimate daleks' from the 'Dalek Empire' audio series, as it doesn't state in Victory of the Daleks, that these new variants, are from before the Time War in the Doctor's universe, from the Cult of Skaro's vaults or from an ulternative universe as in the audio series and thus the 'ironside daleks' see them as the TRUE dalek incarnation....
If you want 'scary' look up ' Dalekstorm' on google.....

Where do you get the connection to the Dalek Empire series from? Not saying their not, just that I honestly can't think of any thing I've seen/read/heard that links them together.

AFAIR the DNA was from before the Time War, but I can't remember any Alternate Universe comment. And, again AFAIR, I guess the 'in story' explanation was that these ones are designed to be better than their Time War compatriots. Or something! I'm sure the Davros-DNA Daleks would argue they were purer ... and we all know that can't end well ... or, again, something ...

Well, as I said I don't think the change that happened was really the one they intended. Based on a hazy memory of the Confidential/Commentary Track - The hump-back for instance was supposed to be a storage locker for different 'arms' but they couldn't make the practical bits work or afford the CGI, and I believe Barnaby Edwards commented that the neck was meant to be a bit longer but it restricted even more just how much the operators could see.

As for 'change for change sake' you could also argue that against the Original New Series design which generally seems to have been taken as near-perfect by the fanbase. At least I certainly can't remember any great debate over the issue!

But, what the hay, this is a series that thrives on (and, indeed, NEEDS) change and there's bound to be the odd misstep now and then.

For all you lucky peeps, this one is currently a thread-exclusive! (as I've just finished it and not put it anywhere else yet).

Let me know if you find any errors, typos or such-like, and I can correct them before this goes elsewhere. As those of you who can compare to the original may notice, I'm something of a perfectionist in my PDFs, so even the fonts are as close to the original as I can get, and every word is duplicated, even the ads at the end. The only concession I allowed myself, is the logo on page 2, which I recreated from scratch, as my original has 'library marks' over it, and so I refused to scan it...

I like BabelColour (http://www.youtube.com/user/BabelColour)'s Doctor Who fan films on YouTube, especially the Ten Doctors (http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4A983C1F79B74FC4&feature=plcp) episodes (3x10 min parts with plans for more)

Thanks enormously for Track 5, JD!
No problem! Sorry it was messed up the first time - I have no idea why...

I like BabelColour (http://www.youtube.com/user/BabelColour)'s Doctor Who fan films on YouTube

I love Babelcolours YouTube vids too, especially the "What about Everything (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceoV-YLAs4E&list=PLB51F8BA54027DC45&index=1&feature=plcp)" Its just Doctor Who clips over a backing track, but all the clips tie into the lyrics so well. I've never worked out where the "space sailing ships" clip is from though at 2:36 on that video, does anyone know? It looks far too good to be from Enlightenment!

And if I could put in a request it would be great if anyone had any of the 7th "Missing" Large Conclusion audios, and if anyone has the freebie audio that came with the official mag that featured number 8 and the companion with the same name as the cat from the old health and safety adverts (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HB0HcINjWs) that would also be awesome! I can't do torrents sadly, no worries at all if no-one can, I realise its a lot of effort and bandwidth and time. :)

For all you lucky peeps, this one is currently a thread-exclusive! (as I've just finished it and not put it anywhere else yet).

For anyone wishing to read the further adventures of a certain female archaeologist, which were released by 'Huge Conclusions', here is the first of those adventures in PDF form:
BF-BS01 (http://www.4shared.com/office/I1U6hyEU/BF-BS01.html)

Let me know if you find any errors, typos or such-like, and I can correct them before this goes elsewhere. As those of you who can compare to the original may notice, I'm something of a perfectionist in my PDFs, so even the fonts are as close to the original as I can get, and every word is duplicated, even the ads at the end. The only concession I allowed myself, is the logo on page 2, which I recreated from scratch, as my original has 'library marks' over it, and so I refused to scan it...

I like the Britain's Got Talent clip

I saw on the web after searching and there is a Parting Of The Ways and Last Of The Timelords/Time Crash Enhanced Special Edition posted on torrents but I don't have access to torrents.....
I would be curious to see them if possible.....
Would anyone be able to locate those?
Thank you!

A question for my fellow 8th fanladies who's seen the cover for 'The Clockwork Prince'.

So, a couple weeks back I was at Wal-mart doing my grocery shopping. I spied a book while meandering down the book isle.
"The Clockwork Prince".

The only thing that shot through my mind at that moment was 'O__O!! Omg! 8th Doctor YOUNG! Goodness, he's hot!'.

Now every time I hear the 8th Doctor, I don't think of

or even

I now envision him like this.

Am I the only one? Is it just me?

I think they don't fit into the regular scheme because they are scarf-wearing doctor stories, and these seem to be seperate from the usual scheme.

They mention in one that they've just finished with the Talons of Weng Chiang, and that they should leave the period dress on because they're only going ahead another 10 years in time.

Although Lis Sladden was supposed by in on this, so who know what that did with their work schedules that they're doubling up on the Leela?

Nobber
03-30-2012, 10:11 PM
IIRC he and Lalla Ward have made up over the years so she's now taking the recording slots that would have been for Lis. Obviously the stories will have had to be changed but, again IIRC, I don't think they'd actually written any yet for LS.

EDIT TO ADD - D'oh! As I was corrected, as you read down the thread, I got my Romana's mixed-up.

DrakeRavensmith
03-30-2012, 10:23 PM
They didn't. When Lis died Tom mentioned that he'd just signed the contracts for them the previous week.

NileQT1987
03-31-2012, 02:04 AM
I'd heard that Tom Baker will be doing recordings with Mary Tamm, not Lalla Ward, after this series with Louise Jameson. Are they with Lalla then? Now that would be a surprise!

Indeed, Tom and Lis signed contracts a week before she died. He didn't even know she had cancer (only a handful of people did, such as RTD and the BBC--she apparently did tell David Tennant that The End of Time would be the last time she'd be in Doctor Who).

Nobber
03-31-2012, 02:43 AM
Yeah, my mistake. I conflated something I read about TB wanting to act with all his old companions and with knowing that one of the Romana's was coming back with Tom.

Talking of which - from the latest BF podcast it sounds like we could have a reunion of 4th, Nyssa and Adric sometime in future. I wouldn't mind that as Adric wasn't quite so annoying when it was those three.

Stinkor
03-31-2012, 03:10 PM
But don't forget - you really shouldn't listen to Zagreus on it's own. To appreciate it best - get in sufficient supplies of food and beverage of your choice, tell your loved ones and close ones just to bugger off for a while, turn the phone off, turn on your best audio gear and then put the whole day aside to listen from the start of Neverland to the end of Scherzo.

By far the best hours of storytelling that BF have yet to top.

I have to disagree; I really hated the whole "Alternate Universe" arc of the 8th doctor. In fact, pretty much any story with C'rizz in it was complete crap ("Other Lives" I think is an exception). The early 8th doctor and Charley stuff was good--particularly The Chimes of Midnight was outstanding--but when it just got weird it got sucky. I'll never listen to that era again.

The early 8th doctor and Charley stuff was good--particularly The Chimes of Midnight was outstanding--but when it just got weird it got sucky. I'll never listen to that era again.

Not wishing to sound terribly picky but I wasn't talking about the whole arc, just that trilogy.

Compared to 'Chimes' ... difficult. I think, for me it's down to context. 'Chimes' is definitely up there battling for any 'Top List' and can be listened to every-now-and-then, but if you start at 'Storm Warning' and work your way through the series to 'Scherzo' those last three just blow me away. Much the same way as Lucie Miller/To The Death just explodes at the end of EDA-S4. (In fact those two may even tie for top-stop)

Last summer I listened to all of 8th's and the Divergent-Universe wasn't as bad as I'd remembered, but the return back to our universe and how Davros was all entwined in it all was a bit hamfisted.

C'rizz had some great potential, but was hobbled being back in our universe having to constantly explain why he looked different and a rushed departure as Briggs stamped his mark on the ranges. From what I gather the idea for the character had been something along the lines of (if you'll excuse the phrase and not take it too literally) The Doctor does a Columbo. Folks were dying, the audience KNOWS it was C'rizz 'absolving' them, but the Doctor doesn't. Or something like that. Not really sure if would have worked or not, but at least 'Absolution' could have been a better story if we'd had some foreshadowing.

NileQT1987
03-31-2012, 10:28 PM
Indeed, I've mostly been going through Legend of the Cybies quotes for my signature. I have the argument scene from Glorious Rev. typed up, too. On another site I have bits of the argument from Evil (telesnap-irrific, of course) in my sig. Obscure Jamie scenes have become my usual for sig material. I have yet to be disappointed or bored by any Frazer Hines audio. And strangely, Anneke Wills' audios have kept my attention span really well. They've certainly moved Polly a few places up my top companion list.

My favorite Classic Doctors/companions happen to be the first four (+Tennant--can't wait until BF gets a hold of his era), so I do admit to getting into the CCs first (actually, The Stone Rose was my first NSA listen). My main forays into the main range have been the Six/Jamie trilogy/quadrilogy, Five Companions and Colditz (all for very obvious reasons). My last CC that I listened to afresh was Mother Russia.

I use ConverterLite (http://www.converterlite.com/) for most conversions to AVI, as it's free, and really easy to use (drag/drop files onto it, select output format and resolution, hit 'Convert', find new version in same folder as old one), and it handles conversion from almost any Audio and Video format to almost any Audio and Video format. One program does almost all your conversion needs. Not wanting to sound like I have shares in the company (cuz I don't), but it's a nice program.

Never tried to convert an MKV file on it before, but just tried it, and it seems to work - I downgraded a 1080p MKV to 640x480 AVI without a hitch...

A few pages back someone posted a pretty definitive collection of the DW comics from the 4th Doctor on up. I was wondering if anyone has similar collections for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Doctors, the old TV Comics and stuff from the Annuals and so forth? I know it's all a bit naff, but I find that stuff kind of charming.

Also still looking for Large Conclusions main range 124, 125, 126 and 129. Selfish of me, really.

I didn't realize that about Briggs, interesting.

I did re-listen to the first part of the 8th Doctor stories with my wife (she prefers the audios to the TV stories, as she says "the effects are better when I do them in my head" :) ), but there are a few of them I just don't want to re-visit. The one with no light, and the one in the glass-tube universe (I think that's the first one in the divergent universe). To be honest, I never really felt like C'rizz's whole thing was very well explained, just that he was sort of weird and had some kind of indoctrination to kill people. Charley also grated on me after awhile, and I've only recently gotten into her being with CBaker, which is vaguely annoying.

I've only listened to 2 of the Lucie Miller ones so far. Verdict not in on her yet.

It's nice to be able to discuss these a bit, though. Seems like nobody who listens to them really ever wants to talk about them.

I didn't realize that about Briggs, interesting.

It's also tied to the series returning to TV, too. IIRC it was Cardiff that requested the Divergent Arc be wound-up so that any new listeners wouldn't have to feel like they had to start at the very beginning. And it's also when Briggs took over from Gary Russell as Exec Producer and you'll notice from that period onwards stories get generally tighter to the 4x25min length.

I did re-listen to the first part of the 8th Doctor stories with my wife (she prefers the audios to the TV stories, as she says "the effects are better when I do them in my head" :) ), but there are a few of them I just don't want to re-visit. I think the 'glass tube' one is probably Scherzo - one of my favourites! But, as I've said before, it's better in context. I love two-handed plays and the performances in this are superb.

C'rizz 'Absolution' thing was never really given the time it needed when they decided to jettison him. I find it's best not to look at the logic too carefully in that one and just enjoy it.

Charley ... just stayed on too long. But, frustratingly in some ways, her time with 6th was probably actually a better pairing than with 8th. I think there's probably more chemistry between the actors, too. A proper Father/Daughter feeling. Her proper exit was badly handled, though, as there's so many holes in the plot it makes me wonder what Briggs was thinking.

In many ways it was a mistake to make her 'loop' like that, but IIRC it was because Bonnie Langford had been booked for her first three but had to cancel so Charley was parachuted in in a hurry with some emergency re-writes to make her 'fit', and Colin and India enjoyed working together so much (and they do work well together) she was given another three to finish off her time.

I know people keep demanding a Charley spin-off, but I really hope they don't give in. Let her final fate remain a mystery.

You're in for a heck of a ride! :)

I haven't listened to the "Gallifrey" series myself, but I hear mixed things about it. However, have you considered that maybe she's acting like that because she's putting it up as a front so the other Time Lords won't question her authority on some things because of her association with the Doctor? Just a thought. I know that if I was a Time Lord under Romana's authority and knew of her travels with the Doctor, I'd be a bit suspicious of her myself. Especially since the Doctor is a known renegade.

I've considered it but had to dismiss it! It's a good point & to be fair the other Time Lords are mostly gits as well & the plot does involve her having to show a strong front a lot of the time! But she never lets up & frankly it's difficult to see how she has any friends or supporters at all (or even just why she would go around talking to people like that, all the time)! After four series & so much time spent in different universes, you would think she could tone it down a bit!

Ah, okay. Fair enough. I just wanted to make sure you had at least thought about it. Too many fans nowadays jump on the bandwagon of screaming "character derailment (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CharacterDerailment)" when a character they like does something or behaves in a way they don't like. It's gotten so bad that I'm beginning to think some people are doing it just for the sake of complaining and not really thinking about the context of the overall situation or what kind of journey the character has been on up to that point.

Fair-play! I might be going over the top - I don't know. All I know is that I didn't like it! Gallifrey's a bit of an odd one for me. I could spend all day complaining about it but I found it compelling to listen to; once I'd started on it, I had to see it through to the end! I've got mixed feelings (but mostly horror) to learn there's going to be another two series. I'd love to see it sort itself out & come good but I've got a feeling I'm just going to spend several more hours getting very annoyed but being unable to switch it off!
Got to take the rough with the smooth, I suppose....

Well, each to their own, personally I have all the classic series episodes in audio and recons format.
[For the missing episodes, in audio I have the stories read for the blind, the BBC releases, and the 'book' readings]. but I am a 'collector', more than a purist, so if some one makes it, I want to get a copy :)
I find that, if I'm working night shift, I will put on an audio book or BF audio, but if I'm in sit back mode, the frame advance 'slide show' to the audio track, works well enough to bring back memories from my childhood, watching the episodes on TV....

I have always put forward the argument that the BBC can and should recast the 2 missing doctors [RIP Bill and Patrick ], and re-shoot episodes with the new actors - like Sherlock Holmes, must we, as fans be so limited, that we can only accept the originals?, in having new actors in the role. These two new actors could then do all of the first 50 stories as brand new/classic episodes, including all the missing ones.... no reason why fans would not buy the stories on DVD/audio - and they could also do all the 'unmade' ones at that time as well.

I was heavily into knitting Doctor Who scarves when I watched/listened to the recons and that worked extremely well for me. I only had a few (the Smugglers comes to mind) where the linking subtitles were so jittery as to be nauseous. With my neck tension I'm not sure I could do that now. Luckily it'll be a few more years before I try that stunt again.

@Hew1tt If Big Finish fans are so adamant that they not cast sound-a-likes for the Doctors, I'd think that they'd take up arms if a tv production were put in place. That said, I'd love to see some new Eighth Doctor Adventures.

@besthead It is an accomplishment when you're take into account the sheer number of episodes. I once glued myself to the recliner and watched every single episode and movie of Dragonball, Dragonball Z, and Dragonball GT inside of 3 months. Tell me that doesn't make you want to genuflect.

It looks like I got my wish a little earlier than my bank account would have liked. Issue 38 of Vortex magazine says that starting April 23 the first 50 stories from the monthly range will be available, ten per day, for 5 pounds apiece which is half off. I would imagine in the US I'll get stuck with shipping on top of that but it should still wipe out what's left of my tax refund. I was rather hoping the sale would be in June or later and I could get my credit card a little lower first.

Sorry, but sitting on your behind watching TV isn't an accomplishment. Maybe reading the books would be a bit more of a an accomplishment, since it requires some actual effort. But only maybe on that one. I've been in the hobby long enough to understand how it can FEEL like an accomplishment. You did something you enjoyed. That's really all that matters. But it's not some major accomplishment to be proud of. Billions of people (myself included!) sit on their asses and watch television every day. There's nothing special about it! In fact, it's one of the major reasons human beings are getting fatter every year -- myself certainly included!

As for Big Finish sales. if the CD's will be 5 pounds, then the downloads will probably be five DOLLARS in the US, with no shipping. Yes, you won't have that piece of plastic and a few pieces of paper and discs sitting on your shelves, but you'll get twice as many audios as you otherwise would have, will still be supporting Big Finish, and will actually be supporting them MORE, because the downloads don't really cost them anything, other than a tiny bit in bandwidth costs.

I used to be a big comic book fan, so I can somewhat understand the irrational collector's need to have a long line of something sitting on the shelf or in the closet. But it's the 21st century, and such things are long antiquated these days. As living space becomes more and more limited (as we overpopulate the planet) and as all entertainment becomes digital, there's nothing particularly special about having your media sitting on your shelf these days. And, like watching TV, it's certainly nothing to brag about. Anyone with money can buy a bunch of CD's or DVD's.

AND my little fifteen-month project was able to provide a random Internet user with a condescension high! Truly a great day.

When you brag about silly things on the internet, you kind of have to expect a certain amount of condescension, don't you think? You're pretty much inviting it. Not that it was actrually meant that way. I'm not actually trying to be rude here. Just injecting a little reality into the discussion. And I really do find such bragging to be odd.

Spend 15 months feeding the homeless or helping the poor or educating people, and you have every right to brag. Sitting on your butt watching TV, not so much.

In a side note, I'm also finding it odd that when I hover my cursor over the word "Internet" in the above post (and in my quoting of it), it pops up a definition of "a series of tubes"!

Well, when there's 916 live-action episodes between Classic, Nu and spin-offs, expect a little bit of 'go me!'

I'm going with 'it's an accomplishment to have such an impressive attention span'. And you really start getting attention span points when you get into BF, books, comics, etc....

Okay, so it's not feeding the homeless (seriously? that card?), but then again, I'm also the kind of person who signs up on travel map sites just so I can delight in filling said map with 17 countries and 22 U.S. states. I have done other things besides 'sit on my bottom'. Lost over 10 pounds in the last 6 months, too (not obese).

Also, some of us have Asperger's Syndrome.

I would agree with you if I believed that the person you were 'replying to', really spent 24/7 just watching TV.... but I sure she had a life outside of our hobby... so smile, bite back a comment, and merely say "Way to go"... eh?
What are you going to say, if she turns out to be Mother Theresa in her spare time....?

My partner has Asperger's as well, so some weeks it's; Bones series 1-6, back to back, and having to tell her to go to bed at 4 in the morning.... some weeks it's 'The Sims' computer game....

Sod Big Finish and their profit margin...when they were Audio Visuals, they like the rest of us, spread their output all around the fan groups, for free or recovery of costs prices...when they became 'Bill and Ben Video', they applied for and received a Dr Who license, they became a minor arm of BBC, Now that they are, the major arm of the BBC audio output, they are holding people to ransom, and doing anything they want, including acting with DCMA, to shut down on sites like this, as well as their trolls creating offensive sites and 'naming and shaming' people like 'Eggburnroll' [from here]

Sorry for the rant...but guys, keep the responses to 'well done' or 'maybe this will help'... we don't want or need, people belittling others here, we want this site to say up, and for like minded people to be here....

HAPPY EASTER, for those who are christian, happy [....insert festival here.....], to those, who are not. Enjoy the days off :)

Let's brag, lets chat and lets escape from the rolling eyes of our families when we tell them how much who we've watched :)

I was, of course, joking. I thought the bazzinga was implied.

As far as 'needing' the CDs/DVDs/physical books on the shelf, I'm not alone. It's a well documented collector mentality that while digital is convenient/better on the environment it's not what nerds do. Big Finish themselves say that the majority of their sales are CDs even when it would be cheaper to get the downloads like it is here in the US. Nerds must have the physical media even if it's just so they can post pics of it. Even changing the type of media is forbidden. Just this month in Vortex a letter writer asked if they would switch their CD packaging to digipacks because their jewel cases were often cracked upon arrival and the cardboard would be environmentally more responsible. The response was that fans do in fact like their CD spines to line up and match but if readers wanted to email for supporting such a switch they'd listen. Do you really think it'll happen? Another good example is the DW Magazine releases. Google search the images and you'll quickly run across a fan who has made jewel cases images you can print off. So they'll match. Another fan made CD covers for Cuddlesome and the Davos Mission that resemble the 'standard' ranges cover art. There are also fans who made covers for the DW magazine download only stories before the BF released official art with the CDs they eventually released. There are a lot of us.

Maybe I just sound old, but buying something and getting 'nothing' just seems wrong. That said, if I like the Stargate audios or Highlander, I'll probably just buy the downloads simply because it's not Doctor Who. I own all the Doctor Who books (I have the credit cards bill to prove it) but I read them on my Kindle anyway because of my neck tension. Or I would if I hadn't gotten caught up in the audios. The NSAs aren't quite as interesting and as a OCD nerd, I can't simply switch to another series and start reading that. Which is a shame because I read samples of the EDAs and such and they seem much better. Doesn't bother me much because it's all Doctor Who and I'll get there eventually. Not that it will impress you. Which is okay.

In a side note, I'm also finding it odd that when I hover my cursor over the word "Internet" in the above post (and in my quoting of it), it pops up a definition of "a series of tubes"!

This is in reference to Alaskan Senator, Ted Stevens, who on June 28th, 2006, described the internet as being like 'a series of tubes', a quote which was so ridiculous it became an internet phenomenon, spawning huge numbers of YouTube clips which used the quote in different ways. Other Ted Stevens quotes include:

They want to deliver vast amounts of information over the Internet. And again, the Internet is not something that you just dump something on. It's not a big truck. It's a series of tubes. And if you don't understand, those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your message in, it gets in line and it's going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material.

Ten movies streaming across that, that Internet, and what happens to your own personal Internet? I just the other day got… an Internet was sent by my staff at 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday. I got it yesterday [Tuesday]. Why? Because it got tangled up with all these things going on the Internet commercially.

We put restrictions on over-the-air signals. I think we can put restrictions on cable itself.

It's simply an example of someone in power who has no idea what he is talking about... Ted Stevens died in a plane crash in 2010.

Burning trees refers to a wood, that is being 'torched'. These are the two most recent audios.

The first contains the title:

Watch out for that falling ash from the burning trees

The second refers to a solitary soldier...

I prefer to see what I've sent, but I invariable forget to tick the box too...

Welcome to the site, sometimes it pays to have a read-back over several pages [or from about page 20 onwards...], because it seems that there are about 1 1/2 new pages a day at the moment....
It will bring you up to speed with; why the strange cryptic clues, or who is the best person to pm/vp, to find, what you are looking for... and remember, a lot of the share sites are not allowing downloads or deleting them within a few days...so it pays to find the uploader [here] and ask them again :)
That said, Neva and Renaissance have been previously listed here.

Haha. Some root beer and/or cream soda would be good, too. But in all seriousness, I only share on occasion. Mostly because I don't wanna risk being on Big Finish's shitlist like poor Burneggroll. But if I recieve some PMs about certain audios, I'll try my best to share them. However, I just have the stories themselves. I don't bother keeping the CD extras like interviews and such. Mostly because I just prefer to have the stories.

I have pretty much any 'Large Conclusions' release you could think of, mostly thanks to the generosity of the community. I'm sure I don't know the full details of Burneggroll's unhappy persecution by BF, but I can clearly see that all messages in this thread before 20th Dec 2011 have been 'removed by OP', and through a few quotes, I am able to see what a few of those posts were. Obviously, I don't wish to have my posts removed from the forums, but if that's the best they can do, I'm not too worried. I share DW-related files in several places, some of which have a BF ban, but I see it as no worse than lending a CD/DVD to a friend. In the days before the internet, Doctor Who societies, clubs and get-togethers were rife with frenzied swapping of video-tapes and cassette-tapes, which you took home, copied and returned next time. I remember the time fondly. The internet is a tool which makes this easier, and I have a hard-drive with 700Gb of Doctor Who stuff now.

Frankly, BF make enough money to hire big names to make these audiobooks and dramas, and DW fans who can afford it will buy them, but for me, they are too expensive. I'm a lifelong DW fan who, due to disability, is unable to work. As such, the only way I can afford to fuel my passion, is to download stuff for free, and sharing Doctor Who stuff between the fans was a tradition that existed a long time before BF did. BF's own beginnings were in those hastily swapped cassettes (in the days of the Audiovisuals series, BBV and Magic Bullet). Too many of the old traditions have been lost - I don't want to lose this one

The boffins with the time machine stopped by last night. They said they didnt have any luck finding any more missing episodes, but I could distinctly hear the sound of a twenty-something Louise Jameson and Mary Tamm giggling drunkenly within the ship. Before I could ask any more questions, they said that they were heading into the future to Caitlin Blackwoods 21st birthday to see if she grows up to look like Karen Gillan at that age as well, and shoved a few PDFs at me before vanishing into the vortex. So, get them while theyre hot.

Large Conclusions - 1st 'Benny' (Dxexaxd Mxexn Dxixaxrxixexs) (http://www.4shared.com/office/WLpfc0GS/BF-BS00.html)

As usual, my version will be as close to the original as possible, leaving nothing out (ads, about the author, etc...) so may have something the one above doesn't...

The only thing wrong with mine is that I recreated the logo on the first inside page, but the shading isn't quite right...

---------- Post added at 06:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:41 PM ----------

Just checked, and there are a few minor differences between mine and MadKalnod's PDF.

All Pages: width/height ratio varies slightly in MadKalnod's. Mine is an OpenOffice PDF export, so all pages are the same size.
Page 2: The recreated logo in mine is clearer than the scanned one, although the shading is vertical, should be horizonal. MadKalnod's is also missing the BF logo.
Page 160: box at the top - I recreated the box on mine, MadKalnod's is scanned - mine is clearer.
Page 223-225: About the Authors section is in mine, but removed fro MadKalnod's

Sorry - not nitpicking - just pointing out the differences so that people can make an informed choice. Personally, I prefer my own version, but only cuz I spent so long trying to make it perfect ;P

Tidbit I forgot to mention earlier. BFs last March podcast contained a response to an email where they were asked if they'd ever reprint the Benny books. They said no. Ebooks may be possible but they didn't sound that interested. The most recent podcast had some bad news as well. 2nd class postage is apparently going up 30 percent for reasons unknown which means that for the first time since 2004 BF will be raising prices. This apparently means UK shipping will no longer be free (although I believe they said 'token amount') but they failed to mention shipping to the rest of the world.

BF Pros: Good quality writers, professional directors, able back up voice actors, solid relationships with lead actors,
BF Cons: Business treated as more important than history, poor customer service, limited distribution, poor public relations, range too large [trying to be all things to everyone...]

Though I love their product, they have a mind set like the large supermarkets, they knock out the small guy, and then, when they are the only game in town, don't deliver on the promises....
A small outfit like 'Doctor Who Audio Dramas' is still able to produce product of the same quality as BF, without the main star actors, without the world wide distribution and at no charge to the Dr Who fan [free downloads from their web site].....and in the case of DWAD, the writers, are in some cases the same writers, who sell their work to BF.

So yes, keeping the price down for 10 years has given them the market share, but does it have more to do with the BBC arrangement, than it has to do with BF being generous to fans...
Their prices are the same as Audiogo's....

Here in Australia, we have 1 major store which carries BF titles, there they charge $50-$60 [$55-$65 US] per title, the BBC/Audiogo titles sell at the ABC Shop [our version of the BBC Shop] for $29.95 [$34.95US], there are other small scifi shops around, that get the odd BF title in, but the mainstay of BF sales in Australia is eBay, where the 'online stores' are going for $34.00 buy it now plus $7.00 postage - for UK imports
The exchange rate for the Australian dollar at the moment, that would have the 12.99 quid UK price as $19.50 Australian.... we can order them directly from BF, but it takes up to 2 months for the titles to arrive - unless, of course, you are ordering them in bulk....

I've watched every Doctor Who stories that has all its episodes intact but have always shyed away from recons, but I really want to experience some more of Patrick Troughon (I'd say War Games is definitely in my top three episodes of all time).

I'll say this. Big Finish offers their stories significantly cheaper for download.

If YOU choose to pay significantly more because you feel the collector's need to have boxes on your shelf, then that's your own fault. Like all collector's items, you will pay a premium for it. If you want that fancy collector's box set of a CD or DVD or video game, then you will pay significantly more for it. If you want that collector's cover edition of a comic, you'll pay significantly more for it. Same thing.

If you can get over your collector mentality and uncerstand that the actual product is the story, and that the box is just wrappingm then you'll save yourself quite a lot of money. If not, you can hardly blame Big Finish for feeding your own needs, and charging you for it.

It costs a lot of money to send CDs through the mail to the US or Australia from England. If you download the story, they don't have to pay any of that, and as such, you don't have to pay it either. But should THEY obsorb the cost because YOU need to have the box?

I don't think anyone was suggesting that they should. However, I (and Nobber) would like to point out that they must have been absorbing the increasing costs for the past 8 years. You have to admit though that their shipping policies are somewhat strange. I find it curious that UK customers get free shipping but US customers can't apparently get combined shipping. I'm to understand that if you purchase a couple of randoms stories or boxsets of perhaps you dropped the money for all 4 seasons during the EDA sale, then you paid the listed shipping for each item despite the fact that they most likely shipped it one box. I emailed BF in that regard for their upcoming sale of the first 50 stories but have yet to hear back from them so maybe I'm wrong.

UK customers pay nearly the same amount for downloads as they do CDs (YOU say that we're paying a premium for the physical media but not all of us actually are) but US customers get a discount on downloads (most likely as an enticement) and Australian customers get screwed. Their policies are region based and therefore somewhat unfair. I don't care about the downloads (and BF knows this) so why should I care that US customers pay less? It stands to reason that Australian customers would benefit most from such a discount but they dont't see it. Why? You know that BF downloads don't have DRM restrictions. The best system a UK customer would have for getting their stories is having an American buy them for them and email them back. My best bet would be to make a friend in the UK so I can get cheap CDs and discounted shipping. Who would put up with that hassle?

As far as shipping rates go, that's subjective. If I order a CD off of Amazon I pay a fixed 3 dollar shipping fee even if the seller is located in the UK. But that's only if I'm ordering off the US Amazon. If I switch to the UK Amazon the price goes up significantly. Who gets that extra money? The seller or Amazon? That's beside the point. What I'm getting at is if a UK seller on Amazon can find it profitable to ship CDs to the US for 3 dollars and BF charges 2.43 (exchange rate is of course flexible) and the rates are going up 30 percent, what will the new shipping be? Especially if BF is going to absorb the UK shipping costs and only charge them a token amount. Will we see only a token increase. I don't mind paying real shipping but why doesn't the UK have to?

Sorry if this post rambles, I"m running off to work. I dug up this post off of Gallifrey Base where they discuss the possibility of BF going download only. Several members say they'd stop buying if they couldn't have their CDs. Admittedly irrational but that's the way it is.

unfortunately for BF i find the prices for downloads on audiogo (for the first 50 that are available on there) are cheaper as they remove the vat costs whereas bf increases the costs even for downloads. The difference for most was only a couple of dollars but if you are buying a few that all adds up. There really is no reason why aussies should be paying more for downloads as there are no postage costs at all. Itunes is just as bad, or even worse, with significant differences in prices between uk, us and au for the same item. Some downloads costing 18.99aud compared to 11.99usd - that makes no sense to me at all.
I have to say i would prefer to own the physical cds (yes that collector mentality) but i don't hold out much hope of managing that.

Swamprat - perhaps your anti-virus is blocking 4sq? The files on there are fine. Perhaps check your settings?

I really love the Gallifrey series, even if the plot is at some points a little awkward. It doesn't always make total sense, and sometimes it can seem a little far-fetched, but I love it all the same. The first series might take a while to take off, but once it's on a roll it is good. I mean, it has two K-9's in it. TWO.

I have them all (at 256kbps, except #8, 'Masters of War', which is 192kbps)
I'll put up Exile for you when the other have finished (in about 5-6 hours...)

Coincidentally, Exile also has David Tennant playing a Timelord. It was released in 2003, three years before he played The Doctor! Arabella Wier (who played the Doctor in Exile) also re-appeared in Doctor Who, as 'Billis' in The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe.

Ha ha! A topic bound to cause arguments amongst the fans. Personally I've never really seen the need for the Doctor to suddenly become female except to drum up some publicity. I wouldn't have thought that Leela would be too impressed if Andred regenerated into a woman! Would have caused a bit of tension in the marriage ;)

It would be a little strange to watch on tv too, would the Doctor be commenting on getting his first bra, the perils of running in high heels. Though I would quite like to hear the Doctor say I have boobies now, boobies are cool!

I don't feel the need to suddenly see the Doctor change into a woman either, but I think the idea of it is one worth thinking about for fun. It's an interesting fan debate I think, and I don't think it's likely to ever happen, but I would certainly be interested to see how it would work out.

The Doctor always says :'I'm still me'. Wouldn't that also count if he changed into a woman? It's just a fun possibility in my opinion, not something I'm seriously campaigning for. But if they ever find someone suitable, I'd be willing to watch it just because it makes for an interesting idea. Admittedly, it would be a little strange to watch.

And now that evil goes back to where it came from and will never be unleashed again. I promise.

If there is anything from that torrent that you'd specifically like, I can put it elsewhere for you ;)
Unfortunately, I reckon it's gonna take 7-10 days to seed that lot, so my bandwidth is gonna be stretched until it's finished. If you don't mind waiting for a week, that'd be great... ;)

I really appreciate that!
I was told that Kaldor City is really good....also, if you could.....I had never heard of Lollipop Man
The only other ones I am interested in are Zygon and Shakedown
I hope it's not too much....
I don't mind waiting at all....
I thank you very much for doing that!

No problem.

Lollipop Man was actually taken from this YouTube version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knHMYI7J5Wk) (Note that it's in 3 parts), using the excellent KeepVid website (http://keepvid.com/), which allows you to save YouTube videos. I'm posting the links for you, as it may be quicker to grab your own copy from YouTube.

I don't normally watch 'Doctors', but this episode is worth watching for fans, as the part of Graham Capelli was obviously written for McCoy, as it is almost a parody of his real-life in many ways.

I'll put Kaldor City, Zygon and Shakedown up for you as soon as I can...

I already put Kaldor City up sometime last week or thereabouts, so that should save you some time unless the links are dead already. Check back a few pages on page 96 and it will be with the "S'ekalb Sseevveenn" stuff, titles encoded with my patented "Reverse Double-X Encryption System"

Not sure what's MadKalnod's Kaldor is like, but it's probably very similar. Here's the details for mine:

Part 1: Oxcxcxaxmx'xs Rxaxzxoxr (128kbps, 51.2Mb)
Part 2: Dxexaxtxhx'xs Hxexaxd (192kbps, 67.6Mb)
Part 3: Hxixdxdxexn Pxexrxsxuxaxdxexrxs (192kbps, 79.5Mb)
Part 4: Txaxrxexn Kxaxpxexl (128kbps, 56.0Mb)
Part 5: Cxhxexcxkxmxaxtxe (128kbps, 57.3Mb)
Part 6: Sxtxoxrxm Mxixnxe (128kbps, 66.8Mb)
Part 7: Txhxe Pxrxixsxoxnxexr/Txhxe Axcxtxoxr Sxpxexaxkxs (192kbps, 28.5Mb)

All cover art is included

I'd already put it on my share before I saw MadKalnod's post (but thanks anyways, MadKalnod!), so here's the link:

Kaldor (all parts, zip, 403Mb) (http://www.4shared.com/zip/-ZMhoqPV/Kaldor.html)

I've set Shakedown on a slow overnight upload, as it's 894Mb - hopefully it won't affect the torrent too much, and I'll post the link in the morning (ETA currently reports 8 hours!). It includes VHS cover art and 'The Making of...' video.

Not sure what's MadKalnod's Kaldor is like, but it's probably very similar.

Here's the details on mine:
#1 = 90.2MB, 244 kbps
#2 = 90.9 MB, 256 kbps
#3 = 106 MB, 256 kbps
#4 = 112 MB, 256 kbps
#5 = 116 MB, 256 kbps
#5a = 23.8 MB, 160 kbps (Not full album, just the KC story)
#6 = 167 MB, 320 kbps
And no cover included.

I imagine between the both of our uploads, one can Frankenstein together a version with the best of each.

Thanks MadKalnod, apart from your 5a (which I have as #7), yours is better quality - I'll certainly be upgrading my own copy :)

Due to an overnight disconnection from 4shared, something odd happened to the Shakedown upload. I have 'resumed' it, but I'll redownload it to check it's OK before posting the link, as it could have been corrupted (4shared says it's uploaded 1.5Gb of a 894Mb file!?!) - I'll only be able to tell if it's OK when it's finished. It it is corrupted, I'll reupload - sorry for the wait...
