For new ones we'll have to wait and see. For others, try the south american river site, or discount sites like fishpond and bookdepository. To get d/l's audible although the quality will not be up to scratch. You might also find some at your local library of course.

They use DRM that takes forever to remove unless you burn the file onto a CD/image and re-rip it. It's a bit annoying but doable.

Google tells me that there are free legal programs that record the media without the dmr, and then there are free illegal programs that just strip the dmr out in a fraction of the time... But it seems impossible that such things wouldn't exist.

Thanks everybody. After investigating audible a little more I decided I don't want anything to do with audible. I'll just wait until they turn up someplace else w/o drm or someone posts them here. Or I'll just chase the cds on ebay. LC should should just start selling the downloads. Makes more sense to me than burying them on a generic audiobook website.

And a lot of these programs are free to download, but you have to pay to get full functionality.

Which is why a disreputable scummy little Muppet would look online for a good brand pay tool, then scrye for a cracked version at the sharing forum/torrent site where they usually get their music from in the first place.

Although if you want to stay above board, I usually find safe freeware, as well as a host of payware at Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com (http://www.download.com)

Oh, I dunno... among Bondphiles it's got a very good rep. Peter Hunt's direction and editing is superb and this tends to be recognised amongst fans and filmgoers generally. I think you put your finger on it though - it's George himself, the one-off JB. Media at large just sees that as a failing somehow, even though he puts in an entirely creditable performance. It's an easy target... it's like a cultural myth that gets perpetuated, despite all evidence to the contrary.

And Lazenby basically played Bond (even down to the stereotypical "Bond tux" look) in an episode of Lee van Cleef's The Master tv series. That episode was included when some of the series episodes were re-edited into tv movie format, and was then featured on MST3K as Master Ninja II (season 3, episode 22).
Lazenby's also kind of a Bond knockoff in the laughably awful 80s action movie Never Too Young To Die, as John Stamos' secret agent father, battling a villainous Gene Simmons (whose character is basically John Waters' "Divine" as the Joker).

I do however believe that Rolph Harris has stated from his desk in Animal Hospital that it is 'very very poorly, and may not make it through the night...'

True.

I really don't know what it is about him that gets my back up, though. The best way I can describe it is ... you know what it's like when you're out walking a dog and most of the time it plays perfectly well with others or just lets them pass by ... until there's that one other dog that it just suddenly goes for and wants to get into a fight? It's something like that.

Very strange.

(Not too keen on his Missus, either. Can't stand her music. Friend of mine saw her at The Roundhouse last year ... apprarently most of the front row at one point said something along the lines of "Oh, put them away ... we've all seen your t*ts and put some f*cking knickers on.")

Me too. I don't get it. I've tried... I just don't understand all the adulation. He's slick and clever but everything he's ever written seems co-opted from other sources - he's a master of pastiche. Perhaps there really isn't an original story under the sun, but it's the way you tell 'em - and the way he tells 'em I can't help finding kind of charmless. Airless, even - everything seems so staged, so deliberately crafted so as to ensure fan adoration. Plus he does have a very irritating public persona that seems to me to be so carefully presented and manicured that I can't help but suspect he's actually a raving egomaniac.

I kind of wish this place existed without the sharing. It puts so much pressure on the people who do, and leads to posts seconds after release with requests.

On the other hand, after spending my hundred quid to subscribe through LC, then being told I don't get bonuses and then the prices everywhere else were about a third of the price... I will be pissed if they don't get this out somehow. Might end up giving up and getting an iTunes. This whole subscription was a shambles. Glad they won't be working with that shower again.

The Synopsis for DotD was sent to the presses today, for those that want to remain in the dark (me, but hey that is what I get for randomly deciding to check out an actual news site), I have placed it in spoila's!

The Doctors embark on their greatest adventure in this 50th anniversary special.

In 2013, something terrible is awakening in London’s National Gallery; in 1562, a murderous plot is afoot in Elizabethan England; and somewhere in space an ancient battle reaches its devastating conclusion. All of reality is at stake as the Doctor’s own dangerous past comes back to haunt him.

I know, it's been a joke. But not really their fault, was more AG.

LC provided content for series and AG did the rest. LC charged normal price for CC and then AG undercut them.

I, along with many others, subscribed at Xmas 2012, and yes I knew a Boxset would be released, but 'subscribers get more' so I chose to get it monthly. In April AG announced exclusive Boxset material. For a 45 set. Subscribers paid 100. LC harassed them a bit and AG said subscribers could have the bonus but pay for it, in January.

Swore I would never buy a joint venture again, but luckily AG are as good as dead and buried.

Downside of course is that I have 10 CDs and a possible download of 11, with no guarantee of the CD.

Ah. For some reason I was thinking you meant a Monthly sub. Wonder if the AGo 'undercut' was part of the, ah-hem, financial issues that killed them off?

Fingers-crossed that LC will be able to eventually finish off the line under their own label.

And ... with the demise of AGo, will LC now continue the CC range after all? It really did seem like AGo were going to to continue the range under the 'DoTD' banner.

Usually when I'm absent for a week, playing catch-up isn't so bad because I've missed some kind of pointless dramatic meltdown. This time I'm bummed because I missed several pages of spontaneous outpourings of gratitude to people for unexplained reasons. Which was hilarious. (And improbably good-natured for an Internet forum, now that I think about it.) Good work, folks.

And although I wasn't checking in here, I have been taking in the third and fourth series of J & L. Which have actually been rather disappointing. They seem to have jettisoned the Victorian X-Files thing and started using rejected Medic scripts. And given Lee-la an arbitrary IQ drop of about 30 points, for some reason. ("Raining cats and dogs? But would such a phenomenon not fill the street with blood and entrails?")

And this just came to mind-- anyone who really digs the Victorian angle might check out William Hope Hodgson's stories about 'Carnacki, the Ghost-Finder.' Gutenberg has the public domain ebook right here (http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/10832). Fun stuff.

Funny you should mention pinball-- I'm actually a big fan of the Pinball Arcade app (though it'd undoubtedly be better on a tablet than my phone). Sort of sounds like it could be capitalist religious doctrine: product death isn't really an end, it's just a transition to a higher state of being.

And captcha codes between links too.

Just been listening to LC's The Spice Rice and I have to say that since my major disappointment with Mr A*rowsmith in the previous show, this is a serious step in the right direction.

The plot is excellent throughout, and certainly one of the best shows of the past few years.

Wouldn't it be good if....
In the DOTD, 11 discovers that as he's regenerated over the years his previous selves have been ripped from time and imprisoned within the Matrix.
Somehow 10 has escaped this fate and joins with 11 to travel to the devestated Gallifrey.
Overcoming many obstacles they find the Matrix still functioning deep below the surface and enter.
Within they find there previous selves living out a normal life oblivious to who they are.
The first three have died a natural death but the others are alive only older in appearance. After many trials and tribulations they are reminded of who they are and freed, once more able to roam the galaxy, but only for the rest of their 'natural' life span (whatever that maybe for a Timelord).

But that's no-where near complicated enough for Moff.

But in other news, Ch5 to show the Cushing movies ... Doctor Who to air on Channel 5 which will show two Peter Cushing films to help mark the show's 50th anniversary (http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2013-11-08/doctor-who-channel-5-to-air-peter-cushing-films-to-mark-50th-anniversary)

Going off topic- (forgive me)

Has anyone been watching the U.S. remake of the Tomorrow People?
I know it hasn't really caught on with American audiences so I'm expecting it to get shelved after 1 season, but I must admit I'm enjoying it- it has lots of little nods to the original series that a TP fan will pick up on

I think the trouble is that the Americans keep comparing it to Alphas & the film Jumper- not realising that the original British Tomorrow People is actually 40 Years old this year - and was around long before the programmes/film that the new Series keeps getting compared to

If it does end after 1 season I at least hope it doesn't end on any sort of cliff hanger or unfinished story arc

It'll be shown in the UK in January 2014.... I'm downloading it every week from a torrent site as I cant wait that long

Been doing the same and struggling a bit with it, got the last two episodes downloaded and not watched yet which says something. I just get the feeling it hasn't really found it's way. It has moved significantly away from what the original was and seems to have taken a bit from Heroes, Alphas or any other teen action, conspiracy, special powers show (of which there have been loads). Because it is so far from the original it suffers in comparison to modern shows when in fact the original predates pretty much everything apart from Doctor Who and Star Trek. Unless it picks up I think this will be a one season show which would be a pity - I wish they had had the courage of their convictions and been more faithful to the original - I think it would have done better than this mishmash.

Tomorrow people is dull.

In one of the X-Men comics a few years ago after they got kicked in the sack so well that there was only 198 of them left from a previous census count into the millions.

The Endangered Species Act. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endangered_Species_Act)

The Tomorrow People can sit back and let the USFWLS fight Ultra for them.

That's how you play it smart.

I cant disagree- I haven't watched the last episode yet, but I'm enjoying it as easy watching-
it has moved away from the original premise of the show (as in the episode Kill or Be Killed) - No spoilers here
but Iam still pleased its back- I suppose, being honest Iam easily pleased- its not the greatest acting & I think really for the timeslot that it holds I would expect a lot stronger drama- but I've just re watched the 90's remake so this new one is looking good - at the moment though I think it will just be the 1 season

I loved that criteria from the 70s... "The Galactic Federation of Planets (whatever it's called.) does not view a planet as having sentient beings on it until the population begins breaking out and becoming telepathic."

Also, the obvious, which I never got was if Mutation/evolution is unavoidable and all children born from humans are within a generation of three going to be mutants/tomorrow people... Not only are you eventually going to be going to war with your own grand children but the mundane human population you claim to be defending just won't exist anymore by 2050 except in retirement homes.

You remember the third Doctor Story the Mutants where the Inquisitor who had been hunting and slaughtering mutants for years began to turn into a mutant himself in the final episode and the self loathing was manic.

I just wish they'd NOT called it The Tomorrow People. Taken on its own merits it's not too bad and I like how the story is going. Yeah, it riffs on themes we've seen from Alphas/Heros, but so far it's doing it well. But .. but it's NOT what I would want as an updated version of the original TV series.

As an 'reboot' of TP - it sucks

As a new series ... it's got legs.

And I'm enjoying more than M:OaS.

I have to admit I started watching it with the idea that I'd hate it! I quite like the BF audio version and I was pissed off that it got cancelled. However, this US version is growing on me but my continued enjoyment is going to hinge on them not overdoing the 'shady government department' angle. I'm hoping Jedikiah will turn into his original shape-changing alien self!

guygardener
11-10-2013, 01:34 AM
Lets assume that the Galactic Council is not allowed to interfere in "uninvolved" worlds, which means to an effect, that they are not policing or protecting Earth until a tipping point is reached in the number of Tomorrow People on the planet... So maybe Ultra is actually culling down the numbers to keep Earth as a legal no mans land where a pack of Alien bastards are doing something dirty and underhanded which they really shouldn't be doing if the space police were allowed to kick some ass and take some names.

No.

They do not want our water.

Oh, definitely! If they could SUBTLY bring that into the story then I think we could be on to a winner. Spend this season setting up the idea that the 'evolution' may not be natural as our heroes think and has been influenced by 'outsiders'? I can see that working.

One of the 'downsides' of the original was that the leads were undoubtedly so bloody smug about about being TPs. The LC continuation did knock the edges of that a bit and, in honesty, this current TV series does have the potential at the moment to flip that entirely on its head.

I'm hoping that once it gets going down the route it seems to be heading it can fill the 'story' that Alphas tried to do before SyFy realised they were doing a SciFi programme.

I sort of dread to think what you mean ...

It was odd that Clara wasn't in the story, if that's what you mean.

And, seriously, couldn't they have got Matt in for the last one?

That would make the episode top heavy since the other Doctor actors didn't show up for the party either.

I hear that since 1-3 couldn't show up, they intentionally avoided all medics.
