Here's D**ar*k Sh*ad**ow*s episodes 16 and 22.
I don't use the same numbering system that TheDoctor911 uses with his files - I follow the LC numbering, which includes An*gel**ique*'s D*esc**ent as the initial 2-parter in the series.
I have one more, number 29, which seems to be taking a while to upload. I'll post it when I can, but it might be tomorrow.

[QUOTE=AdrianHula;2340305]At the risk..... don't think the medic should be either black or a woman for the simple reason the medic never has been before. This late in the day, it would be seen a a gimmick and a massive risk which could kill the show stone dead. I know there are a lot of female actors and black actors that could play the medic very well indeed, but I think the public scrutiny, one single story not being the best ever doctor who has ever produced, for instance, would produce a massive backlash against the BBC that they were just trying to be politically correct.

Since Romana seemed to be able to choose her appearance within a given time (though no reason was given for her change) maybe the Doctor could cycle through a couple of options. Pity he's usually about half dead whenever he regens though.

Poor Harry! as Sarah would say. I don't think he's an imbecile, just wasn't TARDIS trained to quote prof marius :)
To be fair, he did have to go up against the pepperpots and cybers. no small task. i think he did well. now if you want to talk bout imbecile and utterly useless companions, i think you'd have to put... oh what's his name... Adam Mitchell! now there's somebody you could have killed off! besides, back to Harry, he really made Sarah look good... while he was running around clueless, she was starting a rebellion on Skaro... Good girl Sarah!

I love Harry, possibly my absolute favourite, I even read his book.....

campion1971
05-02-2013, 09:21 AM
I hope you are quoting the medic from Te*rr*or of the Zy*go*ns. You must be, Harry is great and I won't have a bad word said about him :)

Or was it The Ar*k in Sp*ac*e?

Indeed! R of the C, in the caves with David Collings....now there is another actor, with Warner, that really should have been the Doctor........

campion1971
05-02-2013, 09:24 AM
No no, I won't have it, no negativity about Harry, he far outshines most of the male companions before and since he travelled with the Medic.

Hurray, that was actually my point!

campion1971
05-02-2013, 09:28 AM
He was one of the better male companions. A positive giant compared to Adric (spits in the corner) but suffered from the writing and stereotypical characterisation. Ian Mater was someone who contributed hugely to Doctor Who so never a bad word against him.

Just looked it up - I hadn't realised he was only 42 when he died - tragically young

I think I've only seen him in two things that I can think of, Doctor Who and Sherlock Holmes (a small bit in a Jeremy Brett episode) but he has left such a large impression on me, I love companions that just get on with it, instead of all this modern angst and accusation that have done recently.....why would you not just get on with it and have a ball?

It does seem that they are doing that right now though with Clara/Oswin whatever.....which I am really enjoying....though I suspect their reasons for doing this.....

That was very jarring, but I remember watching The Daemons and wondering why Jon Pertwee alternated between calling then 'Day-mons' and 'Dee-mons' in the same story... so there is precedence for the Doctor getting his pronunciation wrong!

And let's face it, he has a different mouth now.....so some words are bound to come out differently.....

Not really a Spin-Off, more that Shades was a 'backdoor pilot'.

Had mixed thoughts about that one. Liked it as a story to introduce a new character, but felt having 1/3 of a box-set dedicated to a.n.other character was a bit of a cheek.

Yeah, that's kinda what I meant, really (part of me thinks something similar was the cast with Ultravox Woman last year)...

Which was really odd. A spin-off based on a character announced before anyone had even HEARD her?

Don't get me wrong, I can see that some characters probably do ping the 'Ooo! Wouldn't they support a series on their own', but surely you should wait and judge fan reaction first?

It was an old original PSP that needed replacing anyway, I only ever used it as an mp3 player, (because it had good battery life), should have bought one of those cheap Tesco mp3 players whilst I was there.

I fire up Command & Conquer now and then, does that count?

The occasional BBC Text Adventure, and the C64 version of Elite.

Not DOS games but I've got a spectrum emulator on my pc and play some of them every now and again. seems a bit of overkill using a pc for old Speccy games but I enjoy the odd game of manic miner.

Honey Jack Daniels Update - Nice, but a bit too sweet for my taste. SWMBO is being all gallant and has volunteered to finish the rest of the bottle whilst I get intimate with a bottle of Makers Mark instead.

But she's just bought up an interesting point ... IF Matt is leaving at Christmas, then wouldn't it make more sense for them to release this upcoming "Regenerations" set NEXT year, rather than this?

I tend to agree. I prefer my scotch(and the varieties there-of) to have more of a bite. But, saying that, I've just remembered I've a bottle of Penderyn (a rather nice, smooth, Welsh brew) that really could do with some loving attention.

EDIT TO ADD - Any one that's not watched Willium Russelies first leading role series really should. It's aged pretty well, IMHO. They're all available here - Matinee Classics - Classic TV Shows - The Adventures of Sir Lancelot (1956) (http://www.matineeclassics.com/tv/1956/the_adventures_of_sir_lancelot/) - but note that the list of episodes is in ALPHABETICAL order and not episode order. I love this show, that and The Adventures Of The Scarlet Pimpernel with Marius Goring. Btw, one fun game you can play with the early Sir Lancelot's is the "spot who Derren (Derry as was then) Nesbitt is pllaying this week" game. He's in almost every episode of the first run of episodes and never plays the same role twice.

I listen to a fair amount of that online, never heard of him either.
What's wrong with Mark Wing-Davey? Just doesn't want to do it?

He's on the topical sketch show "The Now Show", doing voices and one or two topical comic songs (usually very good ones, and sometimes Medic based!) - check it out if you can next time it rolls around in a couple of months, it's good fun. But, yeah, I thought he was appalling in his LC role - very OTT. Can't see him as Beeblebrox AT ALL...

IIRC I've tried that one the VICE emulator and it kept crashing.

That was a couple of versions ago, mind you, so something to add to the list of "things to check this weekend'

EDIT TO ADD - One of the biggest issues I have with playing old games is the damn graphics. NOT that the graphics aren't as good as they are today, just that CGA/EGA graphics emulated on high resolution LCD monitors just don't look right.

We were trying to play an old Holmes based one via DosBox the other day and could barely work out some of the scenes properly, yet we all agreed that when we played it on 14" glass CRTs they looked perfectly fine.

I also reckon it's about time that the Character dudes released a figure for that Metal Man version!!!

M00nb@$ and the Beneath*the*Sea Mn@c both have only two episodes missing.
The Circle in Space has four episodes missing.

Sadly it's only affordable to animate two missing episodes per story/release at the moment.

Too true. However, as they're coming to the end of releases of the classic episodes, maybe they'll have another look at the situation and decide to go with more reconstructed eps.
I did manage to get a reconstruction using stills and off air soundtrack from youtube a while ago, so that'll do for now, but it would be nice to see a full motion version, even if only animated.

Still want the figures though!!! Maybe even a nice Zoe.....doubt that'll happen though.

Yeah I could have put Robert Shearman but, eh, choices...

It fits quite quite well into DW - at the end a blue box and adventures with companions are mentioned... As for the cover I see it as a Land of Fiction/Celestial Toyroom-like place hence the door and the light (white void mentioned).

I do plan on going through the LC stuff too, though that may take a while to get there, still on the last bits of the first medic, though school and work has been getting a bit in the way. Which was really odd. A spin-off based on a character announced before anyone had even HEARD her?

Don't get me wrong, I can see that some characters probably do ping the 'Ooo! Wouldn't they support a series on their own', but surely you should wait and judge fan reaction first?

I kinda get the Feeling Morris came up with the character idea first, then BF, spotting a way to push it, said "Great! Now stick her in this Medic story - we'll sell more that way!" I may be wrong, but it's just a feeling...

Now I've finished the Leggy-ion box, I must say, the whole thing felt a bit slight. I just felt like it was getting started when, boom, that's it! A couple more stories couldn't've hurt (especially with that back door pilot in there) - so I guess this months lot is kinda 'part 2'...

BTW: thank you to whoever pointed out that the archaeologist books have important plot developments in them. I've not read them, so perhaps I'll have to a complete 'from the beginning' listen/read session to get the full experience. Does anyone know a 'chronology' of sorts, i.e. the best places to slot the books in??

Interesting. Certainly not the look of caveman Pat from the Rice Warriors animation. It also looks a lot more like concept art than animation stills. I could be wrong.

Those kinds of download sites are garbage, all you do is fill out survey after survey after survey and you never get to the download you want. Well there was one time it worked for me. But seriously you'll just be going in circles.

Thanks so much for the LC DS ups The Doctor 911, however e.32 is also listed on site, but it keeps flashing on and off making it impossible to DL.

Same is true for the DS OTR show. And by the way wasn't the OTR show actually the soundtracks from the TV show?

Forum friends, would any kind soul happen to have 11th medic audiobooks - B#l#a#c#k#o#u#t, A#r#t of D#e#a#th, D#a#rk#st#ar Ac#a#de#my & The Nu#h#u#m#a#n#s please.

incidentally, with a few notable exceptions, I am aware I have been "requesting" more than "sharing" recently, I will try and make up for that now by issuing an open request. If anyone wants any Medic audio requests I will try my best to accommodate in the coming week. Just tell me what LC adventure or CC you want and I will upload and share a link for the standard 48 hours.

I know this group doesnt just reward people who share, but I have been put to shame recently by others extreme generosity and would welcome the opportunity to do the same.

I cannae say fairer than that by jove...

I've meant to get around to uploading these as they've been really hard to find and I've only recently gotten all of them. If no one does it by the end of the day, I'll do my best to have them upped for you.

Well it's the same lot who have done Reign and Tenth - so the styling will fit in with that hopefully. The Ice ones don't look as nice, not even close to the Invasion.... though they may change that in the final edit

So, here come a few more audioized versions of classic serials, starting with one of the missing stories, in which the gang finds themselves in the middle of a battle between English and Arabic soldiers. Awkwardness ensues. It's followed by an episode in which the medic and company go sideways in the temporal whirlpool and find themselves in a museum where they are the exhibit.

Hi.

Here is a final update to the LC archaeologist novels as epub/mobi files.
I proof-read no 17-23 (no 8-16 were done before) and also reviewed the others to give them a more consitent look.
Also included are the pdfs of no 24 and 25, which were posted here some time ago (not from me).
The other PDFs are also included, but not edited. They may not look very good.

I also started a new project to make better looking epub/mobi versions of the NA novels.
Among the things I have done are:

Correct chapter marks
Complete new styles
Normalized quotation marks, dashes and ellipsis ("…").
Paragraph joins, when they where incorrectly split and easily detectable
Paragraph spacings, when available
Removed page numbers
Fixed some common scanning errors ("comer" instead of "corner")
Back covers at the end + back cover text after the title page
Included the DWM Prelude

One exception is no 8 (n_i_g_h_t_s_h_a_d_e) where the scanned pdf was completely unusable.
But there was a very good version from feedbooks with nice formatting.
I decided to keep the formatting and only added the prelude and some images from the pdf version.

Currently the first 10 books are ready. So you may have a look.
The complete project will take some time as I still need about 90 minutes/book.

Big big thanks to Daniel9, Foe, Andyb2011, Nobber, Katrinaau and so many other V angels for your generous sharing.
Your all heroes to us and make this such a great site despite some of it's tech quarks.

Thanks to you guys all I need now to complete my CC stash are series 2,3,&4. Bravo.

I don't collect the audioized TV medic shows because to me it's not real audio or radio, but I know many of you do and that's great. However, I see these ups being put in spoiler folders and that I feel that is not so good. The cyber cops always seem to be able to penetrate that camouflage with no problem. And if there's one thing we want to maintain here, that's a low profile. Very low.
That's why I heartly endorse RWQ, which seems to working quite well and now even better with the hit and run guerilla uping tactics being wisely used by some of the uploaders and of course our coded references to keep this resource we have with the V secure.
I hope all the good folks who've been using the spoiler folders to conceal DLs will start using RWQ instead too and of course where they'll be no visuals.

One more thing, I've been asking about this a few times already, can anyone tell me if the DS otr show about the shady vamp was actually the soundtracks from the TV series? My impression is that it was. Just like to know. And of course if anybody else has the rest of the LC DS ABs to share it too would be much appreciated as would the posting of the newest LC goodie, B7 LC Vol 4.
Up the Federation!

neonihilist
05-04-2013, 07:58 PM
Gosh, I didn't realise that.

any day in which you learn something is never entirely wasted
and you are right, she was superb. as was Rigg.
the show itself seemed a bit of a rollercoaster ride, of nonstop action. but this seemed to fit for once rather than as cover for poor plotting.
the leech was acceptably nasty in appearance
the potato was his comedic self, and jenny was both hot and seemed to get out from under her wife's shadow for one, nice to see.
to be really picky....sat-nav boy, why?
the fainting, fainting, fainting.....really?
and Ive already mentioned the sherlock music and the clark kent moment
BUT
actually makes a second watchable ep from mr gatiss, (and both in this half series, has he been taking something?)
the SS was not only avoided but actually dissed.
the ref to our Aussie friend.
the plot was coherent, and nicely tied into the history of the time with the utopian worker communities and paternalistic business leaders of the victorian age
top half of this 1/2 series so far

Thanks!

No worries. Just experiment if you're not sure - you can always correct it if it goes wrong.

(sharp intake of breath) There are some sites where you would get an instant ban for even thinking that and posting it would end up them putting out a contract on you. :D

or, as I've figured, just an open pointy bracket before each line works to RWQ it. <like this :)

<or this!
RWQ for an example
(you do have to disable automatic link parsing though)

Even the last 3rd of this weeks eppy was muddled the rest was cracking IMO. Solid old school story done in a modern style.

Have you guys seen this: Buy Doctor Who - Dalek Limited Edition on Blu Ray - Sainsburys Entertainment (http://www.sainsburysentertainment.co.uk/en/Films-TV/Blu-ray/Doctor-Who-Dalek-Limited-Edition/product.html?med=aff&product=E11212566&esrc=phg&cmp=301250&aid=drytinder)

Very cheap. Basically packaging both movies together so it's almost half the price of buying them separately. Not the franchise's finest hour mind you but fun none the less.

:) No offence taken here!

I just get a bit miffed at "it's only a TV show" or "if you don't like it, don't watch it" replies to any negativity towards the show.

I *LOVE* the Cushing movies and think it's such a shame that they never got to do the 'The Chase' based one.

They're not without their issues, but they look superb and (for me) don't drag out the stories like their parent series did.

BUM!! I was going to post the link to the full 'The Daleks' one on YT but it looks like it's been pulled.

Haven't seen this shared here yet. Here's one of the three new 11th books. Was kindly uploaded by someone on a different forum, so if that person's around here, a big thanks to them. In epub format.

Ummm... Right.... Well on to next weeks episode

Final impression: self indulgent drivel!
Liked the references to Hammer Horror and the Carry On films but the whole tone of the programme was wrong - it was more like a Comic Relief send up episode. It was a bit like one of those episodes in American series where they decide they will have everyone singing only being the UK it was camp send up.

Like a lot of other people liked the chair beats sonic bit but really I'm clutching at straws now. Second half of this season has been such a huge disappointment for me, couple of good episodes but some stinkers.
